  1. well i tried to move the contacts,  I noticed that there is a nice gash in the contact and on top of that it looks like the contacts are touching each other on the case,   (no black rubber inbetween.)

     on top of that one of the spring contacts on the phone itself is all bent to hell.  Needless to say after I put it back together,  there was no change in GPS lock time.

    and it looks like I will be heading back to sprint for an exchange.  I hope i dont have to do an Insurance claim on it due to it being a manufacturer defect from the factory.   other than the GPS issue I LOVE my G2 and I am heavily antisipating what they do with the soon to be (officially) announced G3.

    Sprint Techs,  what are my odds of getting it replaced vs Insurance?

  2. So I decided to try the "bending the contracts on the board" approach to fixing my GPS. For the moment, it seems that it worked. There were 6 total contacts, and I accidentally broke 1 off. Doesn't seem to matter. Thanks for the advice, guys.

    Edit: I forgot to mention, this was indoors

    Can you reference where you saw about the moving the contacts to fix GPS?   My G2 has terrible GPS and can take 10 mintues to lock on if it ever does.

  3. It's not about minute usage, it's about coverage enhancement. You could be at a location where wifi is available and Sprint's cell signal is very weak.  Like inside my house. Sprint service is spotty to non-existent depending on which room I'm standing in. But my wifi signal covers my entire house.

    thank you for explaining this,   I am in Central Indiana,  and Sprint coverage is excellent pretty much where ever I go.  I get good LTE service at work and at home not to mention the commute in-between.  I keep forgetting that not everyone has the same "lucky" experience that I have with Sprint.

    Thank you for level-setting me on this,   now it makes perfect sense.

  4. I guess i dont understand the reasoning for Wifi Calling when we have sprint with Unlimited, or nearly unlimited minutes.    I have used Wifi Calling with Republic Wireless (a Sprint MVNO) and it works ok,  except when you connect to a wifi that has terrible bandwidth.    and the handshakes between wifi and Cell are less than desireable.

  5. ZVB for LG is the internal testing version, but for Sprint ZVB is the next release in their cycle to keep it consistent.

    So basically, this is LG's ZVC renamed to ZVB.

    at least that is what I am being told

  6. when parsing the LG update site,

    I get :

    <response req_cmd="cs_auth_model_check" status="OK">
    <cs_auth_model_check>
    <result>OK</result>
    <esn>xxxxxxxxx6631</esn>
    <model>LGLS980</model>
    <suffix>ASPRBK</suffix>
    <msn>xxxxxxx321078</msn>
    <esn_date>20131217</esn_date>
    <sw_version>LS980ZVC_12_7</sw_version>

    So it looks like Sprints website is wrong on what version we are going to get.

    LG still doesnt have the download ready yet as when you do the URL it shows "not found"

  7. I for one do not want KitKat upgrade until it is ready,   there is a reason it goes through QA.  Being in I/T,  I can tell you from experience,  I would rather wait for a better product than it be rushed and have issues until the next "update"

    but on the other hand,  it does not stop me from checking all my G2 Info sites multiple times a day :)

  8. Interesting (to me), there is a tech out at my nearest site. This site has been NV upgraded and accepted for months. He is on the new rack that was installed during the upgrade. The legacy equipment is on a different rack and he hasn't visited it that I have seen. To the best of my knowledge everything is working properly. Man I need a triband hotspot.

  9. IN60XC359 Tower in Markleville as of this morning is broadcasting LTE and 1x800.  I was getting spotty 3g coverage for the last few days in the area and went to go check out the tower this morning.

    I was about 600 feet away from the tower when doing the speed test

  11. My mother in law's Samsung Transform has finally bit the dust.  I am looking for a Mid/High level phone with a smaller screen to replace the transform.

    I am thinking the Samsung Victory as my buddy has one on Virgin Mobile and is a solid phone and he has no complaints.

    Looking to spend no more than ~$100 with the contract renewal

    I would really like to get the LG Optimus G for her but the phone is just too big.

    any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful
