  1. I respectfully don't think that's the issue though. It worked when I first put it on, and when I just reverted back to the original 51098 right now, it still didn't help. I keep getting an error about data roaming not turned on.
  2. I've got a problem that I've come to the end of my ideas list on... I had my M8 set up so that I could force roam, it would use a PRL that prioritized Verizon 3G for data (56019), and I could use that for internet. I tried it out when I set it up, and worked great. Really never actively used it though. Now a few weeks later I notice that its not working! Phone says something like I don't have data roaming enabled, or simply it cannot connect to a data connection. A few things to note: - I am using a custom ROM 'ViperOneM8' - In between the time when the roaming data apparently stopped, I upgraded ViperOneM8 from 1.6.0 to 1.7.0. I also upgraded the Radio firmware. - I played around with Tasker and may have inadvertently shut off something while playing with the things you can control in the system. - PRL I tried using are 56015 and 56019. - I see nothing under Mobile Networks regarding turning data roaming on or off. I have seen in other places online saying there should be some options here, but I have none of that. - I used Tasker to check a data roaming option and it was enabled. - I wiped the phone and reverted back to the original stock ROM, however the PRI & PRL did not downgrade. - Also tried re-installing the ROM but to no avail. - I've also never been able to update the PRL, Profile or successfully run the activation on the phone since I've had it. This hasn't been a concern for me since the phone IS actually activated with Sprint, but Hands Free Activation doesn't think so. I just freeze some of the apps with Titanium that give me reminders and its all good. Also it was this way back when the data roaming DID work, so although I don't think this is related I thought I'd mention it. The one thing I'm curious about is the PRI version. It seems that no matter what firmware package I run or RUU back to stock the latest PRI from the most recent Firmware package I flashed is stuck there. PRL also doesn't change unless I explicitly update the PRL. I think there is *something* that is telling the phone that it cannot use data when roaming. I'm just not sure what. I don't think it's some sort of restriction from the provider side. I've never even really used the data other than to test it, and haven't heard of others having a problem. Edit: I just noticed when I'm on Sprint 4G every 10-30 seconds I get a notification icon that when I pull down says "Unable to establish a wireless d" ... which I'm assuming is continuing to say "...wireless data connection...". This only lasts for about 5 seconds and then goes away, then comes back again every 10-30 seconds. Thoughts?
  3. I use the ViperOneM8 Rom and it has an option to hide the battery saver icon. Great options in that Rom. Sent from my Sprint HTC One M8
  4. I apologize if this has been discussed, I haven't read all 102 pages of this thread! :-) how about an option in the settings to choose how the band is displayed.... IE "Band 25", "Band 26", "Band 41" or "B26", etc. as "LTE 800", "LTE 2600", "LTE 1900", etc? It's nit-picky but aesthetically I'd rather see something like "LTE 800" rather than "B26". Just a thought.... great app!
  5. I can easily see my band using ##debug#, but what am I looking for in signal check? All the numbers and acronyms are Greek to me. I'm looking for something that says band # or even the frequency. Sent from my Sprint HTC One M8
  6. I've noticed that the voice quality is MUCH improved from the original 2013 HTC One M7. On my M7 I used to have a slight hiss with every phone call. Perfect quality on the M8... and I did a speakerphone call today and without even mentioning I got a new phone, the person on the other end (landline) said how unusually well they could hear me. Additionally, he was also on a speakerphone and I could talk to people across the room because I could hear so well, which was not something I could do with the old M7. So it seems voice quality is much improved both ingoing and outgoing. Also, when I went from the Galaxy S3 to the HTC One my initial thought was I missed the size of the S3's screen & fonts... with the bigger screen on the M8 and a slight bump in the font settings (using ViperOneM8 ROM) I now feel like I have the best of both worlds. I can see holding onto this phone for a couple years [until the roaming 700mhz bands come into play and I need that. ;-) ]
  7. Does anyone know how to disable/deactivate the "Hands Free Activation" or "Device Self Service"? I have a custom rom (rooted, twrp recovery, s-off) and everytime I boot the phone I go through hands free activation, yet the phone is activated and works fine other than this annoying wizard popping up. I tried freezing several apps as found on a google search, but nothing has worked thus far.
  8. I'm curious about the sporadic connectivity/reception issues and if there's a relationship between purchase location/early adoption and the problems. Can I ask for a roll call?... if you had any sort of connection/reception problems, where did you get your M8 from? Maybe the phones that went out to x store (bb?) had a bad batch.
  9. I've done extensive research on cellular amplifiers as I'm a storm chaser and often travel where signals are limited. Wilson has a 'trucker' antenna, as well you can get amplifiers. The absolute best signal you can get is a simple direct connect with a external antenna directly to the phone. The best antenna I've found is actually a smaller 12" magnetic mount, NOT the big trucker type. An amplifier will actually degrade your signal unless there is absolutely no signal around. IE you're in the middle of Wyoming or something...then it becomes a good thing. The reason is the amplifier will pull in a lot of noise and for a data connection, you're just amplifying noise, so most of the 'data' gets rejected. Yes you'll see a much better signal strength, but try transferring data on an amplified 5 bar compared to a non-amplified 1 bar. Your data will fly on the 1 bar if it's clean data without an amp. So my advice is just get the external antenna -- no amp! Now the problem: Today's devices no longer have direct connect ports on phones for an external antenna! So the whole point may be moot. But there's a little hope -- can get a cradle from Wilson that is a fancy cell phone holder that you can connect your external antenna to, and set the phone in the cradle. The problem is that it's actually designed for use with an amp (doh!) so the signal received without an amp will be limited, but may be helpful. The other problem is you can't take it out of the cradle or you'll lose any signal after a half inch away from the cradle. But if you're only using it for data, you can keep it in the cradle and you should see some improvement. That's my best advice: 12" external mag mount antenna, Wilson cellular cradle mount. Good luck. I'd be interested to hear how it works if you give it a try.
  10. I saw that the Verizon variant of HTC One M8 is LTE-Advanced ready due to the processor. Does this mean that it would also be LTE-Advanced ready for Sprint, or is that not applicable since we have Sprint Spark?
  11. I'm REALLY frustrated trying to figure out how to become a premiere sponsor. I assume this means a certain dollar amount of donation... I already donated a couple times for the 'basic' sponsorship, but would LOVE to be a premiere sponsor...yet I can't find anything on how much I need to donate to do it. Having to jump through such hoops to donate money makes it really easy for me to just want to give up and move on to something else. I'm sure the info is here somewhere, but a search of the forums turned up nothing, and I can't seem to find an email address to contact the admins to send a question, which would also be useful. This seems to me to be a HUGE hole and likely throwing away a lot of money by not making this information easily accessible. You'd get a lot more donating members if you maybe put a couple notes below the donation button so people have an idea of what they need to donate to get to x access level, or a link to a page that says if you donate this you get this. With that suggestion in place.... what's the answer? :-)
  12. Yeah there is no rule of thumb thats useful. Depending on antenna configuration and terrain it can vary from 2 miles to 10 miles. Where i am in Cambridge, the signal drops out on the east side of town anout 1 mile from the tower. Not sure why, but they didn't put a panel facing to the east. 13. Cambridge lte just got turned on just before 3am. fastest test was 28 meg down/ 11 meg up with 98 ms ping. from the first day seeing guys climbing the tower to having 4g turned on was 14 days. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  14. So the 'tower crew' is still out in Cambridge, today no changes to the 3 panels & RRUs they put up (I cant identify them, I don't know what to look for), but I noted that there were a bunch of guys on the ground in yellow shirts while there was one guy up the tower in all orange. Could this be the guy who inspects and signs off on the work, or is there no connection that can be made here? BTW, yesterday eHRPD was turned back on.
  15. i just saw 3 guys climbing up the tower in Cambridge. pictures and more later. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  16. i can confirm they are digging today at the Cambridge site. they have it tore up from the road to the tower and a crew with a white truck is there... had a big M on the truck but couldn't make out the company name. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  17. not sure if this means much, but i drove past the sprint tower in Cambridge today and noticed all the utility companies came out to flag all around the property, as if they were about to do some digging. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  18. After a month of not being able to get sensorly to take my updates, it now works. For the third time I drove n/s through st. Francis, MN and Princeton, and it updated quickly. I'm posting this mainly because I know a couple others are still having problems and I wanted to mention that prior to this I was on a custom rom (freegs3) and kernel. I wiped and reinstalled a few times to no avail, but when I went back to stock (rooted) it worked. So I'm not sure if the fix was the rom or the sensorly server side fix, but thought I'd share. 20. It's all over the Internet that 'your phone' checks for LTE every 30 minutes. You know if its on the Internet, it must be true. ;-) So I don't have to use apps like LTE Discovery then if the phone is reliably checking every 3-5 minutes?
  21. I went to details, saw the messages to send, and initiated the upload until all was sent. I'll just keep waiting to see results before I use the app again. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  22. I've gone on three different trips in the past month to map areas in the north metro, and after each trip nothing would update. I emailed sensorly each time and it seemed to me like I was being brushed off with excuses about how it would update in couple days. It's easily been a month since some of those changes went up. I went as far as wiping my phone to do a clean reinstall of everything. It showed 4G captures, and uploaded those points to the server, but I'm pretty sure data is being lost. I can't see using the app anymore given the last time it worked for me was about 300 miles ago. I can't afford driving around like a fool to map nothing. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  23. Android looks for LTE every 30 minutes. Airplane toggle forces a search, or there is an app called LTE Discovery to search automatically for you. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  24. After reinstalling/reflashing my ROM I continued to have problems. After trying to figure out how the Tasker script worked (I've never played with it, but I am a programmer), I realized that the problem was with a variable %HAVE4G. For whatever reason my phone had %HAVE4G set to 1 all the time. So I added a 'Variable Clear' as step 3 in the Airplane Toggle Widget, right after it clears the %4GSCAN variable. This seems to have the script working properly now on my phone. You can correct me and tell me if this will have any ill effects when I actually do go into 4g coverage or at other times with the script, but as far as I can tell, it may need to clear that variable in new script installs. My guess is that I went into 4G at some point and that variable got stuck in memory. Perhaps I killed the script before leaving 4G and it prevented the script for working correctly thereafter???
