  1. Wake Forest is plagued with failed coverage and failed fiber to the home.
  2. It's been a year now since Sprint installed 2 LTE towers in Wake Forest. I still get .5 bars of LTE in my house, once I turn phone on it immediately bounces over to 3G where I get about 3 bars of service. If I put the phone down, it reconnects to LTE, cycling between regular LTE, and B26. Mind blown.
  3. RT @funnyordie: Boehner not pleased with proposed taxes on tanning beds & all inclusive Caribbean vacation packages. #SOTU http://t.co/UT9t…

  4. Time to fire on Fort Sumter and take what is ours again.
  5. Look Ma, I'm on TV... http://www.wncn.com/story/25255495/rst-fiber-installs-gigabit-connection-in-wake-forest
  6. Here it is, for those of you who live in North Raleigh/Wake Forest area, gigabit fiber to the home. http://www.wakeforestfiber.com/?p=1055
  7. Video from the Flaherty Park install in Wake Forest. Unfortunately, a windy day + no camera gimbal + youtube stablization produced too much jello, so this is B-Roll material. I know some of you will love it though.
  8. FYI, for anyone tracking my FTTH initiative in Wake Forest, I can't announce anything official right now, but can say we're almost there... Things are progressing amazingly. Hope it won't be too much longer before I can say what it is.
  9. We lost LTE in Wake Forest last week for several days. It's back online now, though.
  10. why have @ncngn been publically quiet for almost a year, other than re-active statements to @googlefiber and RST?

  11. Further reading from: http://www.starbucks.com/coffeehouse/wireless-internet In an effort to bring even faster Internet connections to you, Starbucks has partnered with Google as our Wi-Fi provider. We are excited to offer this new experience, and will expect to roll this out to all of our 7,000 stores in the U. S. over the next 18 months. During this transition, we are pleased to be able to continue to work with our partner, AT&T, to provide Wi-Fi service to our customers.
  12. It's not Google Fiber, it's just powered by Google. If you're in a non Google Fiber city, you'll see speeds 10x faster than before (probably through a deal with local incumbent provider), if you're at a Starbucks IN a Google Fiber city, you'll see speeds 100 faster than before... meaning before is probably a 10mbps AT&T dsl line. From: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2013/07/starbucks-wifi-goes-google.html "When your local Starbucks WiFi network goes Google, you’ll be able to surf the web at speeds up to 10x faster than before. If you’re in a Google Fiber city, we’re hoping to get you a connection that’s up to 100x faster."
  13. From: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7472/sprint-announces-spark-its-triband-lte-network "it's been planning on running LTE on bands 25, 26, and 41 (1900 MHz, 850 MHz, and 2.5 GHz)
  14. My write up on the 2nd Sprint LTE tower in Wake Forest. Unless we get Band 41 antennas anytime soon, I believe this will be my last coverage :*( http://www.wakeforestfiber.com/2014/03/11/2nd-sprint-lte-tower-now-live-in-wake-forest-nc/
  15. I've been talking to RST behind the scenes for almost a year now. They are basically just piggybacking off the MCNC network, they bought several strands of fiber on the statewide network. Of note, the President and CEO of MCNC is actually on the FTTH planning board here in Wake Forest, and is also a resident of the town. At this point however, neither MCNC, or RST are an option for the town, right now.
  16. I now have 2 bars of 1900mhz Sprint LTE in my home office from this tower. My quest for Sprint LTE in Wake Forest is now officially concluded.
  17. There is talk of the FCC director reversing NC HB129 which prohibits municipalities from running their own ISP's. Wake Forest will not be getting into the ISP business regardless, but it may open up more opportunities for us.
  18. The mayor assigned a 6 person planning board for FTTH (Fiber to the Home) in Wake Forest. She formally appointed me to be one of the 6 about 3 weeks ago. Success getting Google will depend on Raleigh getting Google Fiber, first. I can tell you that we are proceeding with plans for a FTTH provider here, with or without Google.
  19. I was told today, that they did something that wasn't very common for this crew, and that was placing 2 1900mhz RRH's per sector. They said they would run them through a combiner and should result in a little bit better coverage around the area.
  20. Should've come over and said Hi, I was out there for about 6 hours today. Made probably 5 or 6 flights.
  21. RT @trey_scales: What's wrong with the announcer's voice? Sounds like his tongue is swollen. @goldrush_parker @Gold_Rush #goldrush #gold ru…
