  1. Even if they make it unlockable, secure boot has made using alternate Android installs too much of a pain for me to bother with anymore. I waited for several price drops before I bought my Nexus 5X.
  2. I am really disappointed in how much more complicated it is to use custom recovery or Android build on the N5X compared to the N4. I'm afraid to mess with it. I just picked up a second N4 for $60 that is like new. Love that little phone. I rotate through four different OSes on them.
  3. Thanks. That doesn't sound too bad I guess. The online swap seems hit or miss when going between 3G and 4G phones, but the chat is usually pretty quick. I'm surprised to hear about the APN thing, since I have swapped sims back and forth without issue for speed testing purposes (leaving the Sprint sim active..). Then again I was probably only testing mainly data, and possibly calls.
  4. I know this is an old post to ask for clarification on, but I wanted to test another phone on my line for a bit, and I wanted to put a GSM sim in my 5X while I'm doing it.. what are the difficulties in swapping to another device, then swapping a different sim into the Nexus while I'm using the other device on my Sprint line? I know I'll probably have to chat to get the swap to work, as I've experienced in the past going from an LTE device to a 3G device and back. It just seems odd that you could swap sims back and forth without issues while it's still active on your Sprint line, but not while it's inactive. Thoughts?
  5. I was hoping to test LTE roaming this weekend, but there was just enough Sprint signal to keep my phone from roaming.
  6. I hope that makes them much easier to find.. getting one for my 5X was pretty frustrating.
  7. Very well. It isn't my everyday phone, so it doesn't get a lot of abuse. I try to be extra careful with the Pre3 since there aren't too many left to replace it. I do have a couple of spares I was fortunate enough to find for good prices. My only lament is I can't use them on Sprint.
  8. Mildly truncated... The Sprint website clearly says it requires adding at least one new line and installment billing.
  9. Every BOGO I've ever seen required adding a line, which is why I never saw the appeal. If -- Sent from my Palm Pre3 using Forums
  10. I have a Lumia 635 I bought to check out WP8, and it does the same thing if you try to reduce the brightness too far. Fortunately there's a low enough level for night viewing that does not whine.
  11. LG Tribute 2 is under 5" and fairly recent release-wise, but I suspect old in terms of specs.
  12. And I'm not trying to start an argument here.. Just though it was an interesting nugget. T-mo seems to be stealing the bulk of the customers from the big two. I miss the days of Sprint gaining big chunks of subscribers. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  13. What does that mean? Are you saying they lied?
  14. Well, they outgained ATT and VZW in postpaid phone subs.. That's something that doesn't happen every day.
  15. Well I have another confirmation of no LTE roaming on Sprint for the 5X. We were driving on 50 East of Jefferson City, MO and my wife's iPhone picked up LTE roaming but my 5X did not.
  16. So you took advantage of the Fi deal and they let you cancel it without a penalty? That's pretty surprising.
  17. If I don't get it soon it's going to be my first sideload of an ota update..
  18. It's definitely not hi-fi, but it works. I've been really happy with my 5X - the screen and camera are fantastic, and the LTE speeds have been blazing. I just wish it was smaller, and didn't have the occasional lag - though that hasn't been a problem since I deleted Facebook and FB Messenger. I just hope when baseball season gets into full swing, I don't have the same problem I have on my Nexus 4. The gamecast is useless on the N4 because the phone can't keep up. Other than that, I have NO issues with cm12.1 on the N4 (plus I couldn't use it on Sprint..). I'd hate to have to track down an ancient apk of the ESPN app from before they ruined the performance.
  19. Sounds like a mess to me. You know Google will screw it up. Just add another item to the following quote from the article: And if carriers decide to try to monetize it, just write it off now.
