    That's sort of bittersweet news. Yeah, it's great El Paso is finally seeing upgrades. But it's also a bit frustrating that it's happening on the eve of Massive MIMO (and with the merger looming). This likely means El Paso won't be seeing 64T64R anytime soon.

    I stayed in downtown El Paso a few years ago and data was slow for Sprint. When I got to the hotel (which had a view of Juarez), I turned off all the Sprint bands and roamed on Movistar. Sadly, it was a more pleasant experience than being on Sprint (or my T-Mobile tablet for that matter). Hopefully I can go back later this year to catch a game at the Sun Bowl. It's one of the few College stadiums I have yet to visit.

    Unfortunately, even in almost mid 2018 sprint still only has 1 tower downtown it is band 41 now , but it's doesnt help much with coverage .. the sun bowl doesn't have a Sprint Tower close by .. TMO att Verizon have sites pointing directly inside the stadium .. sprint has a tower on the U BUILDING, but it's still not band 41

  2. Those antennas are B26/B41 antennas. In combination with the old NV antennas, they should be able to provide 4x4 L800, 4x4 L1900 and 8x8 L2500...it’s very strange you’re not picking up anything but L1900...
    That's a small concern of mine .. I was hoping Tim would have info.. these sites that are getting new equipment.. sprint is moving at a pace unknown to me ..I'm sure in other cities it's been seen before .. but these sites take anywhere from 3-6 months to to be turn on from what I heard

  3. I don't agree with having two headquarters. Seems like a waste having to transit multiple executives between the two locations. Just have it in one place.
    Surely the Overland Park location is plenty big for both, more space perhaps than the Bellevue location. Personally I think the combined company should move out of both locations and move to Las Vegas, where T-Mobile has its arena. If then they decide they need another hub to go with it, open one up in New York City.
    Both are already up and running why spend money on new ones.. one can be HQ .. the other one can be HQ lab for network testing

  4. When they did B26 the first time around, they installed the RRUs with the antennas, but it was some time between the original installs and when they brought B26 online. When they did, some required a site visit to install a carrier card. I would think they would install all of that now, but you never know.
    This is an update as of this morning they are already at the site now .... I tried to get them as clear as possible.. maybe later my buddy will come with the DSLR and take come pics 6e8e552c3e2a90058b03652073019847.jpg8c450c631953f5bf7266ae931d0b9f82.jpg

    The source also says this which SeekingAlpha conveniently left out;

    But otherwise it seems that if it does happen, both sides will get what they want out of it.

    There is no certainty that a deal will be reached, the sources cautioned. The companies came close to a merger agreement in November before SoftBank’s chief executive officer, Masayoshi Son, pulled out of the talks at the last minute.

    I just saw the article you quoted .. that article is hinting a purchase of sprint by DT .. by get a debt financing plan together

  6. What do you mean by future proof? This is just getting you up to speed with the rest of the country at this point. Any 5G upgrades, or additional capacity adds will still need more equipment down the line.

    So long as they actually install the B26 RRUs and other related equipment, it should be a relatively quick process once they are cleared to use the spectrum. It may require a site visit to turn on, or it could be pushed via software, I'm not sure. But either way, if everything is installed now, it'll be a quick process.

    Well, I would hope sprint would add the rrus since they are already working on the site ..
