  1.  I think the others are going to go faster than you think...Probably not much further than 2020 (2 years).     T-Mobile is already re farming their older 3G space... Neville Ray had said in the past that he would like to follow Verizon's shut down date not too much further than what Verizon's is. (see link below)      AT&T just shut their 2G down in January and is now eyeing 3G's deadline. They have not made a date public.
    T-Mobile plan to sundown 3G
I did see that as well, but TMO is still at least 400 thousad square miles behind Verizons LTE coverage.. and some of there band 71 is still not cleared.. I don't see that happening anytime soon.. the only one that can maybe match that date is att.. if att even wants to do that

  2. If the merger fails, how long will Sprint’s CDMA remain live?
If the merger succeeds, how long will Sprint’s CDMA remain live?
I think Verizon will be an all LTE network at least 2 years before anyone else .. if the merger is approved I don't think that will be the main priority for TMO right of the back .. and currently neither T-Mobile or Sprint network are ready for that.. eventually TMO will get there, but network integration will be the main priority

  3. It's not about pushing coverage through B26. It's about densifying and making sure you have enough access points that UEs can reach.

The main problem with VoLTE will be existing devices not reaching cell towers. Sprint is notorious for having places where you can get a decent signal and usable DL speeds, but uploads fail (and this is not due to congestion). If you don't have a consistent uplink, VoLTE will fail even with QoS. I sure do hope VoLTE is an opt-in trial while we wait for the merger to close as the network today cannot sustain reliable VoLTE.

You are correct, but that's future talk. Based on how att is running their network here with far less density compared to tmo and Verizon .. if Sprint can run band 25+band 25 ca combo I think it could work

  4. With the triband antenna that had been talked about that will happen. I have been to areas that only Have B25 and 26 needs to be added since Sprint lacks density big time.

I think for sprint to have a decent entry into volte .. they need to start pushing out CA band 25 + band 26.. to add capacity to each band and push coverage where density lacks

  5. You’re right on that: I’m sure employee morale is bad... possibly as bad as it was during Network Vision when customers were fleeing.

It seems like a “goodbye” tour for the Sprint brand, but I don’t see how this improves morale. The “thank you” part I can understand. Not sure what the “education” part is.

Overall: This is so depressing to see.

Lots of education .. Sprint showed the first LTE/5G phone.. talked about the network and when this device can be sold

  6. I guess I should say my phone will not stay on B41. It does occasionally connect but not for long. I was hoping the B25 speeds would get much better. But so far not to much. We had B26 for a short while, but haven’t seen it in a long time. Not even at the Holloman tower that had it two years ago.

If it is a tower that has been recently upgraded give it some time . Some are being tested in low power mode some arent close to being fully optimized

  7. Sprint is ending its $15 unlimited plan promo this week

So it seems that Sprint is ending this promotion this week and according to them its because of high demand. Say what?
Can someone explain to me this reasoning? If the purpose was to bring in new customers to the network and the promo is successfully doing that due to its high demand, why kill it? Things that make you go hmmmm.
    TS out

At the high demand of course we don't know the number .. the percent of people that get this plan .. will more then likely leave once the promotion is up

  8. It would appear your phone is connected to 3ca. What other conditions are you noticing that makes you believe 3ca is not active?
This quote didn't come from me,it came from a premier member Dkoellerwx.. I noticed it right away .. speeds should of been much faster on a 3xca site then they were .. and that's when he added Ericsson sites are only brodcasting a single carrier at the moment

  9. 5 hours ago, nexgencpu said:
This is 100% 3xCA, all EARFCN on your engineering screenshot are valid..

EDITED BY DKOELLERWX, THIS IS QUOTE FROM ONE OF MY POSTS:

"So far, Ericsson 8T8R sites do not appear to support carrier aggregation. I have several in my market that I have found. For the moment, they are a step down from the Clearwire sites they replaced. 3 carriers are being broadcast, but aggregation does not seem to be happening."

  10. I just wanted to ask with the merger still on going..how far behind is sprint still ? I can only speak for my market and although sprint is moving here with upgrades they still lack density in the area.. sprint announcing a few more 5G markets.. means they are seeing the plan through .. which in any case they would have to Incase the merger doesn't get approved. What are sprint current pops on LTE without any roaming

  11. That's a difficult question to answer. Some sites are live within a week, some take several months. They may be waiting until they have completed all the work they've been permitted for until the integration crews start work. The B41 could go live at any time. Of course the B26 side will have to wait until spectrum is clear, and that likely won't be until fall at the earliest.
Sites have already started going live as of this morning97c871362ee18cc470d7f6e7f3988868.jpg

  12. More dual-band 800+2500 antennas with Ericsson 8T8R RRUs, plus they're installing two Ericsson 800 RRUs so that 4x4 (or maybe 2x4?) Band 26 will be available when the spectrum is cleared.

Looks like that's the set up they will use going forward.. any idea on how long these take to go live on the network.. im sure a backhaul boost in needed as well

  13. I've do remember seeing cell tower equipment installed on one of the stadium's lighting towers and a standalone cell tower next to it. Drove right past it and didn't really get a good look.
It must be hard to deploy service there using traditional cell towers/equipment. The stadium/university sit next to a mountain top that sits next to the international border. Too many cell towers, and you cause interference in Mexico. Not enough cell towers and you get coverage holes inside buildings.
UTEP is a great candidate for small cells.
The tower on the light pole is TMO ... The standalone is Verizon and later att co located ... TMO added a tower deadsmack in the middle of campus.. Verizon added a site across the street..
