Keep us updated if they come back and install the new antennas.
Sure thing.
If it's like the other couple of sites I've seen in progress, they should go up fairly quick. The backhaul is another story....hopefully Time Warner is quicker than ATT.

Nice shot of an AL PCS RRU! LTE is not too far away!
That is a very busy tower.... I see iDen, and T-Mobile AIR antennas, plus Sprint and possibly AT&T.
Thanks!
I'm hoping LTE is coming soon, especially since LTE has been going live in other 4th round Alcatel Lucent markets.

On Saturday I stopped by this site in Camarillo, near Lewis. I was surprised that there were guys working on the site. They were from a company called VCI and they were trenching to run the conduit and fiber for Time Warner. He thought that there would be others back later in the day or evening to do some work on the antennas.

I think this is the one you want to use for SLO:

RADIO HEAD.) REMOVE (6)
ANTENNAS. RETROFIT BTS CABINET
AND INSTLAL (1) NEW JUCTION BOX.
POINT MUGU SITE, 4710
HUNEME RD. CROWN CASTLE SITE

I'm not sure if there's a best band, but as Robert mentioned above, Sprint will have 25, 26, and 41.
-
No, it won't slow anything down.
-
It looks like they copied those from here.....so they're correct.

Since SoftBank bought 80% of sprint is it possible that SoftBank CEO and his great knowlage on 4g. That hes going to try and match speeds from Japan. I talked to one of my friends and he said that would require billions of dollars and he spent about 9 billion dollars to help sprint with network. The rest shareholder money.
Basically yes...the plan now is to put TD-LTE on all Network Vision sites.
Follow the link to read about Robert's testing in Denver.

That one is complete....it's not a full build site so it'll probably be a while before LTE is on it.
Again if you become a sponsor, you can look up any sites you come across and see if they are completed or not.
-
What's the address?
-
Can they put cell sites on a huge water tower. By us 101 new on/off ramp by arroyo grande i get 5/5 signal bars and the app i have points to that water tower.
Yes they can.
Most of the time those apps aren't accurate in pinpointing the location of the site.
Post up pictures and someone can figure out what's on it.
-
Your best bet is to become a sponsor, that way you can see where the towers are and check them out yourself.
-
I think they're basically done with that one.
It's probably just Alcatel Lucent doing their typical "Let's get 3G going first on a few dozen sites, before we turn on any LTE"

Does any one have any new info on the North LA market? I am really hoping the Softbank cash infusion starts accelerating work in LA North. Still not much going on in the 101 corridor between Calabasas and Camarillo. I check often to see if any sites in progress are added on the NV Sites complete map,
still nothing new. It is frustrating since I have had 4g phones with Sprint for well over 3 years and have yet to take advantage of 4G minus the few times I venture into LA.
They're still working on GMO sites, but not too many of them are left. I'm sure they're probably working on the full build ones, but we won't "see" them until Robert gets the acceptance or someone goes around to physically check on them.
If I remember right there is one full build site in Lompoc and one in Ventura that are complete. The Ventura one isn't live with LTE yet, but the 3G part is live. They took down the legacy antenna when they were putting up the NV one.
My work is about a mile away from the Ventura site.
Here's the North LA thread: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4032-network-visionlte-north-la-market/

Found a full build site in North LA. I was keeping track of it, since it's down the street from my work.
The guy I talked to was pretty friendly and said they've been working all over So Cal. Their last job was in Indio and were glad they were in Ventura since it wasn't 100 degrees here.
He said it should take them about a week to finish then they'll fire it up to test. I'm sure I won't be able to connect to LTE for a while, but good to know full build sites are starting/have started in North LA.

I don't recall if this was mentioned before, but saw the article this morning:

I believe that's showing Wimax coverage, not LTE.
-
does this mean we have wait aprox. 8 months for it to start going live? or more like ~3 months?
I doubt it. Just because it took that long for the circuit to go live at my work, doesn't mean it will for Sprint's sites. Not all sites are using ATT either, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
There are tons of variables involved and backhaul is just one of them.
-
I'm sure the delay is the fiber. I had fiber run to our new building when we moved in and it took over 8 months to get in (AT&T).
That's the same thing that happened at my work. It took a little over 8 months for them to get the circuit live here too.

All I see is a palm tree? What cell tower!?
You know the funny thing is, there is another tower maybe a block down the street that's just a regular looking tower.
I'm not sure sure why they decided to camouflage this one.
The cool thing is there is no fence or anything around the site...it just sits at the corner of a building. I'm guessing they'll have to put a locked container there when they start the physical work.
-
The panels look similar to the ones at a site near my work.
Here's a couple of pictures of the antennas. I also have pictures of the cabinets, etc. It's an in progress site, but no physical work has started yet....at least as of yesterday when I took another look.

Thanks Robert!
It'll be a good reference for those that want to check up on sites to see how far along they are.

Network Vision/LTE- North LA Market
in Markets
Posted
SignalCheck went off when I left work today and I had thought it might have been LTE.
My phone picked up 1x800.... while not LTE, it was still cool. It'll be interesting to see if I can pick it up again tomorrow.
