  1. Not feeling too well so I didn't get any screen shots, but I did map some more purple down south around Lucasville yesterday while visiting family. It looks like there are at least two towers running LTE down in southern Ohio north of Portsmouth. I'll try to get back down in that area in a couple of weeks when I'm feeling better.
  2. Have I missed something? Sensorly is showing 4G on I-270 in the Hilliard area between Roberts and Cemetery roads. i'll try to get up in that area today and see what I can find.
  3. If you look at your battery screen under settings when you plug it in, see if it says "Charging (AC)" or "Charging (USB)". Some of the phones out there will draw a lower current if it senses it's plugged into a USB port for charging rather than a wall charger. Many of the car chargers out there, especially older ones, show up as USB. I use this car charger from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0062O25IS/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It has a low price ($7.55) and free shipping for anyone. It is sensed as an AC charger by my Galaxy S3 and it does a great job of charging, even while using some power hungry apps like Waze which uses the GPS, a constant display, a data connection along with the processor power that app itself uses. On my older car charger the phone always lost power while using Waze, to the point where I couldn't use it for more than about 4 or 5 hours from a full charge even while plugged in. This charger solved the problem and it now gains about 20 to 25% charge per hour now (with Waze running) rather than loosing power.
  4. Noticed a rural tower that had new RRU's and antennas on it yesterday. CB03H**** 39.39*** -82.16**** ****, Nelsonville, OH 45764, USA Sprint Market: Columbus OEM: Samsung RF Switch: FW-FORT_WAYNE-MSC_1 It's located south of Nelsonville along US RT 33 (about half way between Nelsonville and The Plains). I wasn't able to get pictures or do any testing due to heavy traffic, so I didn't post it in the In Progress thread, but is is definitely in progress. It looks like there may be some hope for South East Ohio too.
  5. BTW - I saw them placing new antennas on the tower at 2500 W Dublin Granville Rd in North Columbus (Rt 161 in Linworth) last Thursday, May 2nd. I wasn't able to get any pictures due to rush hour traffic but there were two men up on the tower and two on the ground at about 5:30 PM. I'll try to swing by there for some pictures today.
  6. At West Broad and Norton you are probably on the tower behind the car wash on Norton Rd. In either case they have been doing ground work on both towers near you. (cabinets, fiber, etc) I haven't checked the towers for a couple of weeks but I may do so today to see if any tower work has been done.
  7. Check the map here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/682-network-vision-site-map-ohio-markets-west-virginia/ Columbus market is the blue pins.
  8. How much of a delay will be determined on how much OSHA get involved.
  9. I went to that New York page, clicked on the Sensorly logo in the upper left corner which took me to a page that had locality displayed, and I then bookmarked that page. Now it takes me to my local map every time.
  10. Yes, that is a propane tank. An advantage to propane is it's lifespan. It won't go bad sitting in the tank for extended periods of time like diesel or gasoline will.
  11. SW Columbus (Lincoln Village) is also getting eHRPD. Just bit the bullet and upgraded to a Galaxy S3 yesterday so I guess I'll be watching the 3G for a while. I had the old buy-back program with Best Buy which was expiring soon so I had to use it or loose it. Got the S3 and Best Buy still owes me $27.00 so i couldn't pass it up.
  12. I am in Lincoln Village (a couple of miles away) and I noticed my Epic 4G is eating the battery this evening. I checked the battery usage and saw the Animated Weather Widget was 62% of the usage which means it probably is having trouble updating the weather so it just keeps trying which eats the battery. 10:40PM My current 3G SpeedTest with 2 bars is Ping = 406ms, down = 32kbps, up = 28kbps. My current 4G SpeedTest with 2 bars is Ping = 90ms, down = 1066kbps, up = 1393kbps. Just ran another 4G at 10:45PM Ping = 102ms, down = 3471kbps, up = 1234kbps.
  13. Seen it many times and have a copy. I am a member of the Alferd Packer Memorial Kitchen Crew. We cook for Tecumseh Lodge in the Boy Scouts, Order of the Arrow. Our slogan is "We would love to have you for dinner" and we can be identified by our black shirts with Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man delineated with butcher cuts on the back. For any of you familiar with the Order of the Arrow my Vigil name is Woapsu Machque which translates to Polar Bear. Now you know where my name and avatar come from.
  14. So far the Cleveland market is the only Ohio market mentioned in the 3rd round list. Columbus and Cincinatti haven't even been mentioned yet as far as I know.

    LG Optimus G

Just saw the OptimusG on Tiger Direct Cyber Monday. $99.99 New Contract, $149.99 Upgrade w/2 year extention, $579.99 off contract.
  16. They can't tell on their iPhones since they can't receive WiMax. On my Epic 4G the signal on WiMax may be just a hair better than 3G, but not much. The building penetration is still pretty poor. I loose about 1 bar on either one when I go inside the house. The current 3G speeds are pretty bad but the 4G does decent. I live on the far west side of Columbus near Doctors Hospital, a little less than a mile from the tower.
  17. The only time I have many problems with any of it is when I'm inside buildings (like everyone else). Outdoors and near windows it usually works pretty good. Sprint just doesn't get that building penetration. Just ran speedTest again in the 3G mode, all to the same host on Sunday morning at about 9:15AM which I should think would be a very slow time for network traffic. I am located within 1 mile of the tower. 3G in my house at my desk w/ 2 bars - Ping = 283ms, Down = 84k, Up = 43k 3G outdoors on my patio w/ 3 bars - Ping = 97ms, Down = 180k, Up = 58k 4G in my house at my desk w/ 2 bars - Ping = 110ms, Down = 4998k, Up = 1471k 4G outdoors on my patio w/ 3 bars - Ping = 111ms, Down = 5296k, Up = 1512k 4G isn't bad but if I upgrade my phone to an LTE device I will have to rely on the 3G for another year. Going to be a tough choice. My Epic 4G (SPH-D700) is still working great and it still gets great support form the Developers, but like most people I want a new toy to play with.
  18. I live on the far west side of Columbus (I-270 & Broad St). Tests this morning with 2 - 3 bars of service were as follows: 3G - Ping = 283ms, Down = 84k, Up = 8k 4G - Ping = 72ms, Down = 5580k, Up = 1450k 4G is OK (not great) but these 3G speeds are just about useless. I will be elegible for an upgrade the 1st of December and my contract is up a few months after that. If I don't see a NV plan for Central Ohio by that time I may very well leave Sprint after 14 years. I just can't see getting an LTE phone when they can't even tell me when LTE will be available in my area. And saying that everything will be done in the next few years just doesn't cut it with me.
  19. I still use a Blackberry 8350i on Nextel as my work phone (their choice, not mine). The data is slow but at least it works. it does do internet and the email works pretty good. In a few months our contract will be up and hopefully we can switch to something better.
  20. The biggest complaints I have heard about this Phone are the glossy plastic upper on the back and the non-removable battery. Since the glossy back is removable I am sure someone will come out with an aftermarket piece real soon (they're probably already working on it). For the non-removable battery I would just get one of those little portable recharge packs if I was having problems with battery life. With the bigger battery and the lower drain by just having one processor it shouldn't be a problem for most regular users.
