  1. Yea I have been waiting to post about it but coverage in the cicero area seems to be getting better. At work I would jump in between 3g & 4g but today it was 4g all day. I ran a few tests and were between 4.5-8mb down. I will see tomorrow if I stay in 4g all day. If so they must have turned a tower on nearby because when I was jumping in and out of 4g I was getting 4g between 1.5 & 2mb last friday.
  2. LOL...Yea I read about all these things like rooting your phone. I think I am completely happy with it the way it is. If I don't know what I would be missing how can I miss it. Plus I try not messing around with things like that until I have nothing to lose. That'll be 18-22 months from now. I just added a few apps and wallpaper. I only use it for basic things so I don't think I even need to consider rooting it. Thank You I appreciate the advice.
  3. Okay i think i figured it out lets see. Okay now a stupid qestion how do i delete it from the clipboard? Or will it just get written over when i clip other things? Thanks EDIT: Never mind figured out how to delete it.
  4. I have it on an app so I could access it quickly. No I did not know that Thank you. I will try. However right now I am trying and it won't let me. I will play around with it and see if I can figure it out. Thanks again. Okay cool I was hitting the wrong button...Thank You! Nice and easy now!
  5. Well I just got back from Best Buy not far from me on the North Riverside/Berwyn boarder and was rocking at about 25mb downloads on speed test. According to someone in another forum the 37-38mb download speeds were extremely fast so here is what I got from emailing it to myself and click the link it will show the results. Test Date: Oct 6, 2012 1:53:09 pm Connection Type: Lte Server: Chicago, IL Download: 37.30 Mbps Upload: 7.66 Mbps Ping: 59 ms External IP: 98.253.115.145 Internal IP: 30.43.81.230 Latitude: 41.85407 Longitude: -87.85037 A detailed image for this result can be found here: http://www.speedtest.net/android/262459745.png Ookla operates Speedtest.net using a massive global infrastructure to minimize the impact of Internet congestion and latency. 6. Check the post above. I was also at another site still close to my house but I was also getting 22-25 download and 7-12 upload. Any idea why only about 5-10 blocks away at my house it drops almost in half maybe a little less than half. I suppose it doesn't matter cuz I just connect through wifi but was just curious. Thanks, Jay
  7. This is my first smart phone so I am learning but I attached it from my phone and emailed it to my self and this is what was sent to me. Hope this helps. Ok cool click on that link. Test Date: Oct 6, 2012 1:53:09 pm Connection Type: Lte Server: Chicago, IL Download: 37.30 Mbps Upload: 7.66 Mbps Ping: 59 ms External IP: 98.253.115.145 Internal IP: 30.43.81.230 Latitude: 41.85407 Longitude: -87.85037 A detailed image for this result can be found here: http://www.speedtest...d/262459745.png Ookla operates Speedtest.net using a massive global infrastructure to minimize the impact of Internet congestion and latency. 8. I have reported some okay signals of LTE in North Riverside/Riverside area. I think I have located where the signal must be coming from. Not far is Broadview where I was just at Target @ 17th & Cermack and I was rocking out at 37-38 download speeds and 7-8 upload. I tested it every few blocks on the way home and the signal was getting weaker and weaker. So that is where I am getting my LTE from. I just don't know where exactly the tower is located somewhere over that way.
  9. Okay a town away from me is where the signal has to becoming from in the Chicago burbs of North Riverside/Riverside area. I was just at Target in Broadview, IL and I was getting 37-38 download speeds. So some of the near West Chicago suburbs should be getting some descent connections.
  10. Well I have reported over in the Chicago sub-forum But I suppose I should post here. I am seeing LTE connections in chicago near west suburbs. Cicero is flaky in and out of LTE a matter of a few feet which is weird but by my house a couple towns away the North Riverside/Riverside area I am getting LTE in and out of my house except for the basement and it is pretty wide spread a pretty large area. I read that a new tower was up in the last 6 months close by so it must be on. I have been getting anywhere between 5-13 MB inside my house. Although down near Alsip I did pick up briefly a signal for 25 MB down.
  11. Well I just got home and the north half of Riverside and then south end of North riverside where I live by the mall is a hot zone. Last 3 where taken in my house. download speeds in mbps-8.38, 11.39, 8.36, 13.38, 12,76, 12.28 upload speeds- 5.63, 5.89, 2.54, 5.96, 5.40, 4.66 pings-66, 57, 58, 62, 65, 45 Anyone in that area should be having a blast.
  12. Okay this is my first smart phone so I don't know how to put up pics or anything but I am Happy to report here at work in Cicero, IL I am hitting 4G. I ran 2 tests on my phone activated minutes ago. It reports test 1@3:33 3441kbps down 1141kbps up and 50ms ping. @ 3:34 it is at 3707 kbpps down 1254 kbps up 59ms ping. Now I am showing 3g again. but it was showing 4g at time of test. UPDATE: Just ran another test in 3g horrible.323 down 21 up 193 ping. However I moved 5 ft 4G picked up at 5557 down 2261 up and 73 ping. Note: All tests are from in a building.
  13. Sweet I just received my phone today and activation will be implemented and complete tomorrow. My phone says updated on the box so I would imagine it is fully up to date is there something I should look for to know for sure that it is? Thanks! I'm look forward to getting this up and running and all settled in tomorrow. Anything like tips or tricks I need to know please let me know. THIS IS MY 1ST SMARTPHONE! Thanks again.
  14. Hey I am new to the whole smart phone thing. This is my first smart phone Galaxy S3. I was wondering was is a good sd card. I know micro sd but I am getting a 32gb. Does the class matter. I know 10 is fast but is it just based on your needs. I really don't think I would be doing anything extreme with it maybe some downloads of music and some pictures and that stuff is kind of something I don't really do. If I did anything with music it would probably be done on my mac and then transferred to the card. Thanks for your help. Update: I think I am gonna go with a 32gb class 10. It is a store brand card but it is reasonable for 24.99 and they are a computer store that I always use for flash drives and computers. I hope that is a good decision in regards to a card but that is what I have read a few places to use. 32gb is probably more than adequate.
  15. Well I just finalized everything and got the headache over it turned in to a really big pita experience with in getting a phone. Although sprint was really helpful which made it easier. BUT FINALLY! Come Thursday I am a member of sprint family with a Galaxy S3 and can report any progress by North Riverside, Bewyn/Cicero, Brookfield area and by my lady friend's down in Alsip.
  16. Pure speculation here but I know Chicago probably should have gotten it first being it has the largest population but I think maybe it might be easier to update the towers there. If it is on roof tops even in winter it is much easier to get to then these individual free standing towers. So I think they want to get as much of these out laying towers done before snow. I could be wrong I have never looked at the towers on top of the buildings. Again pure speculation. Hopefully Soon you will begin to get some hits.
  17. Cook thank you...I am glad to here it is starting to hit in my area. That is not very far from me. Thanks for the heads up.
  18. Ah...Thanks liars told me to check out over there and see all the progress we have made. Maybe they misunderstood me but I think it was just trying to convince me to get sprint. Although I am in the process of doing that. It just pisses me off that I was lied to. Because I specificly asked about 4g lte. Who knows maybe they thought that was the upgrades for that. Cool thanks man.
  19. Any hits of 4g Lte near brookfield, Oak Park, Berwyn area. Supposedly a tower with Data speed was completed at Harlem and Cermack also in Broadview.
  20. I forgot to mention the information would be useful for the area of Riverside,Berwyn,Cicero,Forest Park, Oak Park area that is where I am and where I will most use it. Along with like the Alsip south side Chicago burbs and a bit further west. Hopefully I get a response soon as the SG2 arrives tomorrow and need to ship it back for the SG3 or EVO. I have been seeing positive reports just a little nervous....Thank You!
  21. Okay I just order a SG2 with my concerns on the 4g lte in Chicago. I am in the near west burbs. I was wondering as it will be arriving tomorrow would it be in my best interest to send it back and pick one of the LTE phones. I would rather have some good Wimax speeds than non existent LTE. Also this will be my first smart phone so I am not sure. I just never got one because I was fine with no internet on the phone but I decided to upgrade and switch to sprint. Thank you for the help. I have never had internet on a phone so I don't know if I would notice a difference I just don't want to get stuck on 3g with what I have read is pretty horrible atleast with Wimax the upload and download speeds are pretty bareable. I'm kind of torn as I know that rolling it out does not always mean it will be flaws and work like it should. And may have some big glitches for a while. I just don't know what is a bigger gamble slower speeds but reliable or fast speeds and a chance of unreliability for who knows how long.
