The RF evolution/revolution of the HTC 2016 Nexus
in The Wall
A group blog by The Wall Editors in General
To make matters even more attractive, that Nexus device could compete in the same product space as one of the OEM's own branded devices. See the Nexus 5 and the LG G2.
In short, I highly doubt that Sony and BlackBerry were in the running this year or ever will be considered to be a Nexus OEM.
AJ
While they are competing in the same product space, an OEM is saving on R&D as much of the work is reused on the OEM branded device. Google is paying them to make the device, so there is a savings to offset the lost sales.

Sprint's PCS spectrum position in Memphis goes from nothin' but a hound dog to Graceland

The FCC ULS database still is not back online after server relocation. So, I cannot write any updates, if necessary, until probably late this week.
The good news is that the FCC OET database has been back online since at least Tuesday, thus the iPhone/iPad reveal today should have authorization filings uploaded this afternoon. We also expect the 2015 Nexus 5 authorization filings any day now.

Any updates?

Sprint's PCS spectrum position in Memphis goes from nothin' but a hound dog to Graceland

If the FCC ULS were not down this holiday weekend for server relocation, we could spot check for already filed interim benchmark construction requirement filings.
AJ
AJ, any update since the holiday on the licenses and what is all involved?

Sprint Marketing Updates 4G LTE City List where work is under way and adds 9 more communities
in The Wall
A group blog by The Wall Editors in General
I went back to sprint on Monday after two years with Tmo. I forgot how BRUTAL there network speeds were. I did some speed test this morning.02Mbps down .29up 278ms Ehrpd Detroit Mi 42.49277Lat -83.0442Long .07Mbps Down .43up 581ms Same town as above.50Mbsdown .84up ehrpd Lat42.49957 -83.03592Long.12down .91up Same lat and long as abovebest one was 1.08Mbps Down .72up Lat42.29518 -83.18289These speed tests were all in the Downriver area (Melvindale, Dearborn Allen Park) Two of the above were in the Warren, Michigan area.ABSOLUTELY BRUTALLY SLOW!
1 meg down is more than serviceable for 3G, once NV comes though, all towers will have sufficient backhaul to support much better 3G data speeds, along with over 30 megs down for LTE in ideal conditions.

Hey Robert what ever happened to the article on all the phone signal quality reviews? I remember you said you were done with the testing but are writing the story. Do you have an ETA? Thanks and keep up the great work! What is the first rule of S4GRU Club? you don't ask about ETAs
What is the second rule of S$GRU Club? YOU DON'T ASK ABOUT MOTHERFRAKKING ETAS!!!

I use svdo too much now for me to go to a device that doesn't support it.
BT headset or speakerphone?
I just wish Sprint would give us a Pre-order and a price point

I've never had SVDO on a device before, so I don't plan on missing something I've never had. Once LTE is live and strong in the next year, I'll be happy with SVLTE as I'm almost always in metropolitan areas that will have strong LTE coverage.

Nice picture, that lugnut smokestack is the downtown Sprint tower, I can see my office window too
Looks like this map is still missing a significant number of the Grand Rapids towers and all of Northern Michigan, hope to see an update soon from your sources

First 4G LTE sites start going on-air in Sprint's Boston market

Josh, you really need to become a sponsor and look at the maps of what has been done and what is coming up in markets, it is amazing. As Robert has told me many times, Sprint's OEM vendors are doing a "shot gun" roll out, hitting as many places in a market then "shooting" again to hit the gaps. Lather, rinse, repeat
If you become a sponsor, take a look at Chicago
