  1. Its just a pick'em group. You try and predict the outcome of the games each week and assign confidence points from the picks you're more confident in to least confident in.
  2. Up to 8 people so far, and just to toss it out there, the first game on the Week 1 slate starts at 7 EDT/6CDT/4PDT....I'd originally thought one of the games might be one of the Thursday night games, but the first game is a Friday night game. So still a little more than a week to go.
  3. Actually now that you mention that....I've kept wondering but can't place him. Who is it?
  4. It wasn't my first thought, but when I got to that part it definitely crossed my mind.
  5. Thread is updated now and signup specific info has been moved to the basic Sponsor forum, with both posts crosslinked to each other.
  6. That's logical on the one hand, but would restrict non-sponsors from being able to participate. When I get home, I'll edit the post, create a secondary in the highest level sponsor forum with the login info, and direct non-sponsors to PM me for login details.
  7. Ok, managed to change the password via my phone, see OP for the change. 'No moar chikn', and apologies to Robert if he actually hates KFC.
  8. AJ, I tried using chicken instead of kfc initially, but unfortunately Yahoo didn't care to cater to passwords beyond a certain length.
  9. Sorry about that... I'll check it when I'm home after work. I personally don't care for the spread at all, but in terms of more strategy/complexity that's why we've always used confidence points instead of going purely on straight up wins/losses.
  10. For any member on the site who loves college football, and with the inspiration coming from lilg740's fantasy hockey thread, I've taken the liberty to create a pick'em group for anyone who wants to play. For the signup information, people who are basic S4GRU Sponsor level or higher, you may click here for details: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4507-s4gru-member-yahoo-college-football-pickem-group-signup-info/ If you are not yet a Sponsor, send me a private message through the site, and I'll be happy to send you the signup information that way. I can't force everyone to do this, but I request that you please use your S4GRU member nickname when you sign up so everyone knows who everyone else is. The parameters I've setup the group with are: (a.) straight up picks (b.) confidence points are used (c.) Everyone's two worst weeks are thrown out in the total calcs (d.) Both Yahoo game picks and AP 25 top are used each week If anyone has any issues with these parameters, feel free to bring up your issues for debate amongst those who play in the thread here. We have a week until the season starts, so there's time to change if the majority rules differently. As an added incentive to play for those who are either newer members or have contributed some but haven't made it to Premier status yet: Whoever wins, I will personally donate $50 to the site at the end of the year in the name of the winner. If Robert wins, well....I suppose he can buy an extra bucket of chicken if he wants.
  11. No interest in hockey myself. I haven't done fantasy football in years so I'd likely suck at it, but I'd give it a shot anyway. What I'd want to know is, from any college football fans, would there be any interest in creating an S4GRU-member Yahoo CFB Pick'em group? I do this with some friends every year, but would love to participate with any of you guys that'd like to form a group as well. Edit: Nevermind, I'll start a new thread on this, my apologies to lilg as I don't want to get his thread off track. Carry on hockey fans.
  12. It'd be nice from my perspective too in terms of closing the I-81 gap between Abingdon/Meadowview and Harrisonburg when I'm making trips to/from PA.
  13. It was the one time where hearing the national anthem was depressing. Anyone whose ever watched Poltergeist even in more modern times at least should get it however.
  14. I think most prefer all the customization Handcent offers, though if you don't text much I could see where its not a big deal. As for Google Voice, I haven't (yet) had any issue with using Handcent and receiving texts via my GV number. I don't integrate via Sprint though, so I can't speak to that angle of usage.
  15. I would....I used to use only stock messaging, but once I actually tried Handcent I've never looked back. Granted I've never tried/looked at any of the other non-stock texting apps that may be out there either, but Handcent's about the most popular one out there.
  16. That's what she said? (I only claimed to know the reference, not to be able to effectively implement it properly in all cases)
  17. That's what she said! (Just submitting proof that while I'm an old 40+ fart, I do still keep up with some of the more youthful hipster trends) (Also, I'm ashamed of AJ, he should have picked up on that long before me since this is the first time I've even read this thread)
  18. That already exists in a simpler non-algorithmic form. It's called the Report button.
