  1. I am doubting the iPhone will have it given their trending over the past few years of staying a step behind in hardware. Not starting a iPhone bash by any means, just pointing out their trend of possibly playing it safe. Glad to see the addition as this should allow them to get things working correctly and figure things out before putting it into handsets which to be honest should be relatively easy especially the 800SMR band.

I agree, but I wouldn't rule it out, I believe there are a few European carriers doing 800/2600Mhz LTE. Not supporting it (again) would be a pretty stupid move.

  2. I get pretty good 3G performance, btwn 400-1500k and my pings are crazy sometimes sub 70...

I typically see 0-350k DL speeds with 400-700ms pings, which is fine for web browsing, tweeting, etc. I try to avoid anything data intensive, it'll either stall or kill my battery quick (or a combination of both) or just not work altogether.

  3. 3G Completed indicates the acceptance for the physical work in putting up antennas, rru's new coaxial / fiber cables from ground cabinet to RRU's, and that the equipment is powered up and capable. Depending on backhaul capability, they may hook up legacy T1 backhaul while waiting for upgraded backhaul. The only 100% confirmation that upgraded backhaul is in place is if the site is 4G accepted as 4G will only be accepted with upgraded backhaul.

I'm aware, but I just fail to see how the NYC Market has had a "complete 3G overhaul" when only 50% of the sites have seen NV upgrades. If anything, it should be just that, fifty percent. But I'm no expert.

  4. Just because 3G is complete does not mean backhaul is live on the site sir. It may be only once 4G is turned on that 3g is hooked up to fiber.

How can the 3G upgrades be fully complete if only 50% of the sites in the NYC market have seen NV upgrades? And if a site has been upgraded but the backhaul isn't ready, I don't see how it can be considered complete.

Quite the opposite for me. Their have been rare occasions where 3G has been slow. Again we are talking about NYC, which LI officially isn't included.

I'm also referring to just NYC (Queens/Brooklyn), it seems like I'm almost always connected to a legacy site, even if I'm in an area with strong LTE coverage (which, I know means little), but that's just my luck, of course. I'm not complaining or anything, I know the wait is almost over (hopefully).

  5. A lot of NV hardware is already installed for 800,its a matter of installing a carrier card in most of the already active sites to initiate it. Yes T-Mobile will lag behind without any sub ghz spectrum to penetrate deep into buildings,as for them beating Sprint on deployment in your area..it could happen, like I said earlier their backhaul is already in place so site conversions Can happen im under 24 hours. If you check the NV complete maps you will know that 3G has been entirely overhauled for new York ,so 4G is coming quickly.

There's no way that's true, the NYC market is only 50% complete. Most places I frequent still have slow 3G.

  6. I know if I didn't have a LTE capable phone, I wouldn't really care. Besides Long Island, most of NYC us done anyway. It's really just LI

I don't really care who arrives here first since both should have LTE when it's time for me to upgrade/switch in the fall, I just expected Sprint to be first. My main concern is with the 3G. I live in Queens, but I'm in the Long Island market half of the time.

  7. First LTE site accepted in the Long Island market today in Port Jefferson. It will be posted to the NV Sites Complete Map tonight in the Sponsor area. Woohoo!

Cool, that's only a few miles from where I am at the moment, too bad my phone doesn't support LTE.

yea thanks. I am not a huge tech guru so I will just turn off 4g until i see significant improvement during commuting time. Do you guys know how far at&t went with their LTE? there was someone with iphone 5 on the 7 train and they phone was on 4G, rather than LTE for the entire ride. Maybe it was iphone 4s.. not sure. but I know my coworker complained that LTE is pretty spotty for at&t in Queens.

I'm not surprised, AT&T's 3G was also spotty for me in Queens, compared to T-Mobile and Sprint anyways. And looking at some old speed tests, the 3G was in the same ballpark as Sprint's 3G.

Definitely don't miss AT&T at all.

That's exactly what's happening to me around my home. Service keeps dropping to 1x. A quick airplane mode cycle gets me 3G back but then drops me back down to 1x.

Crossing my fingers that it is NV being done. Either that or this damn Yankee game again. Lol

That's the exact same thing I go through everyday, especially during rush hours, I've done the airplane mode cycle so much that I can do it without even looking lol. But today it just kept cycling between "Searching..." and "No Service" no matter what I did.

If it's NV, I wouldn't even mind, they can keep the tower offline for as long as they need lol.

  10. I had no service for about an hour this morning, and when it returned, 3G wasn't usable until I left my area. As much as I want it to be due to NV, I doubt it is.

On the bright side, I'm getting stellar service in Long Island today, in an area where pings in the thousands were the norm not too long ago.

  11. I check Sensorly the other day , A good majority of NYC is purple , Sprint just needs to fill in some blanks , add better coverage, convert more towers & improve the speeds & we should be good . Then they can start on the L.I market lol .

The Long Island market is nearly 1/4th complete. Whether there's LTE or not, idk.
