Verizon LTE is live in the 1 train stations. I haven't had a chance to test it elsewhere yet but hear that it's systemwide. Verizon announced their participation after Sprint and this leaves Sprint as the only operator without subway coverage.

I thought it was a PRL update which forced my phone into the "o of death" (see my post here http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3942-prl-250155601551097/page-3&do=findComment&comment=153732), but it was just a coincidence. However, when traveling downtown and in midtown, I have the same results as you- the iphone spends too much time in "o" As much as I want to root for the underdog in the fight, it's very challenging to have Sprint in NYC at the moment. The LTE rollout is very slow; there is no native service in the tunnels (subway, MNR, LIRR, or automobile), and the network is having significant growing pains as NV is rolled out. Chicago is the best example of what Sprint in NYC will look like in 9-12 months time, and it sounds from the Chicago forum that things aren't great in the Loop there.

Strong LTE picked up at 72nd and Broadway. Particularly strong at the Chipotle on Amsterdam between 72 and 73. Can someone with an Android device map the area? Thanks in advance.

digi, is there any reason why PRL 51097 would lead to more time spent on 1xrtt than 3g as compared to before? Perhaps coincidence with some tower upgrades in NYC that is impacting this comparison, but after the PRL updated, I found myself with 1xrtt where before there was 3g. Thanks

I think significant parts of the Upper West Side have lte but are unmapped on Sensorly. Anyone on the forums have an android device who can spend some time mapping there? I walked up Broadway from 66th to 76th with lte. Also just received a brief period of lte on 50th and 7th this morning.

The MTA has been working with Transit Wireless to install wifi and cellular in the NYCT Subway system. From a press release: Transit Wireless and the carriers are paying 100 percent of the cost of the project, estimated at up to $200 million, including the cost of NYC Transit forces that provide flagging, protection and other support services. The MTA and Transit Wireless would also evenly split revenues from occupancy fees paid by the wireless carriers and other sub-licensees of the network. Transit Wireless will pay the MTA a minimum annual compensation of $3.3 million once the full build out of the network is complete. There is 3G data in some of the Chelsea A,C,E stations. There are some plans posted online for Transit Wireless' "Base Station Hotel." http://transitwireless.mcgowanbuildersftp.com/ Also, both the MTA and California have significant outstanding debt, but California has more. A quick Google search can answer your questions like this.
