  1. I'm thinking the signal at hall rd and Gratiot is coming from the tower in New Baltimore, that is the closest accepted tower near it. And if that is where it's coming from the signal isnt going to be reliable because that's a far distance for 1900, and even 800 MHz to travel with all the buildings and trees in the way.
  2. That's what the panels look like on the accepted tower in new Baltimore as well as all the other network vision sites I have seen in metro Detroit
  3. There is an accepted tower on Starville rd about 4 miles south of marine city hwy. That could be where it was coming from but that seems kind of far for a 1900 signal to travel.
  4. The tower near 23 and card has lte panels. Its possible lte could be broadcasting from it. Go check it out
  5. If you get a chance, see if you can get lte at 23 mile and card, the tower on card now has new panels. I would but I do not own an lte phone
  6. What size is sprint deploying channels for lte 800 in areas where there is less than 14 MHz?
  7. Thank you for clarifying AJ. Four times the coverage area is a huge difference. Can't wait until I get rid of this iPhone 4s so I can take advantage of the extended coverage.
  8. I know this question has many variables, but lets say in a mostly flat rural area, with minimal downtilt (tower optimized for coverage, not capacity) does anyone know how much further 800 mhz on 1x can travel vs 1900 mhz on 1x while on the same tower broadcasting at the same power/downtilt?
  9. I would think if you had a strong signal from a macro site, the airrave could cause interference.
  10. As good as that sounds, I'm going to have to pass. You are one funny guy
  11. Kind of off topic, but it would be interesting to see how much pcs and cellular spectrum at&t and verizon have deployed in the major markets across the country.
  12. As long as you are at home and have wifi there is no need for lte.
  13. My friend with a Verizon iPhone 5 ran a speedtest the other day around 5pm with a strong lte signal and the results were disappointing. He had about 4 down and just under 1 up. The speeds are still relatively good for a mobile phone but it has dropped under the advertised speed. For the sake of Verizon customers, if AWS isn't deployed soon then the average customer will eventually start to notice.
  14. Found some sites in eastern macomb county around in and north of new baltimore with network vision panels and rrus. I listed them in the michigan sponsor forum.
  15. Its not clear they use short and fat panels , could possibly be t-mobile
  16. I really hope that in the near future Sprints data roaming agreements change. It would be nice to roam on 3g while on verizon, but I must say for loading simple web pages 1x is fine for me. I travel to what Michiganders call the "thumb" of michigan quite often, and sprint roam on a local company called thumb cellular. Unfortunately only Verizon users have the privilege to use their 3g network while sprint users are stuck with only Voice coverage. Thumb Cellular is a part of Verizon LTE in rural america program so that could be a possiblity. Either way it is nuisance not having access to data while I am up there.
  17. Once Sprint completes more of its new network I really hope they try harder to get the message across to the people that their network is better than ever befre. If not, I think subscriber growth will continue to be slow. Right now most people perceive Sprint as an unreliable network. That won't change unless people are informed. Simple as that.
  18. Talking to people on other carriers, and even after explaining to them about network vision, people truly believe that Sprint will always be inferior to the duopoly. Most of my family/friends/acquaintances have Verizon and you could basically say they laugh at the fact of switching to a different carrier, especially if it were to Sprint. Most of my coworkers are on at&t, and some complain about dropped calls, yet they won't try someone else. People act like choosing someone other than one of the duopolys is the difference between life and death. Anyway, the point that i'm trying to make is that Sprint needs to do a better job of informing the stubborn Verizon customers that their network isn't as great as they say it is. I will admit, they have a wonderful 1xEVDO network but from even personal experience, their lte is lacking. I see speeds of around 5mbps in the middle of the day even right next to an lte tower. On 700mhz you would think penetration would be great but it really isn't. Even At&t's lte stays connected much better indoors. To think people with Verizon think they are on a superior lte network, is quite scary. The big companies have them locked in paying premium for what they believe is true, when in reality it isn't. And people are too stobborn to believe their are better options out there. Just my two cents I guess.
  19. Not to make you sound stupid by any means but have you checked to see if LTE is turned on in the settings?
  20. In my area after a power outage, expect sprint to only work for a few hours. After the backup batteries die, my phone roams to verizon.
  21. This is exactly what I meant. Sorry for not being more clear. The legacy network on the other hand as we all know is a different story.
