  1. AT&T 29/39 GHz and "5g" deployment are years away. Sprint 2.5 GHz is now, and is currently expanding, although much slower than most of us would like.
  2. I'm not using GMap sharing, or any other new features (that I know of). It just seems that since I did the update on 3/29, my battery life has gone to hell. Like SeanK, I'm charging twice a day. Or, I have my phone plugged in to a power supply or portable battery almost full time. Rather disappointing: Before the update, I could easily go all day and evening, and still have 40-50% charge by the time I shut down for the night. Now, if I'm not charging, I'll be in the 30's by lunch.
  3. Has anyone else noticed a sharp decline in battery life since the last update?
  4. I was 1 for 1 (Northwestern over Vanderbilt). Go Cats! (Yeah, I know round 2 doesn't look so rosy.)
  5. Update went ok. WiFi calling failed after update, but healed itself about an hour later. Don't much like the revised Settings menus, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
  6. Most are robocalls placed from automated dialers that rapidly call entire blocks of numbers. They spoof the caller ID (illegal as hell), and are nearly untraceable. If they say your name, it is almost certainly a coincidence - they are dialing hundreds or thousands of calls per hour, and have absolutely no idea who they are calling.
  7. If you have bought a GS7 Edge or Note 7 since August 3: Are you aware that Samsung is offering your choice of a free Fit2 fitness tracker or a free memory chip for GS7 Edge & Note 7 buyers. Check the Sprint web site for details. My daughter's phone died a couple of weeks ago and she bought a GS7 Edge on my account. The reselling store was not aware of the promotion, but I was shopping at a local Best Buy for a Fit2 for my other daughter, and they told me about it. I pulled up the Installment Agreement for the GS7 Edge and submitted it through the Samsung web site, and just received a verification that the purchase qualifies and that I should get the Fit2 "within 12 weeks". $179 retail value.
  8. Has anyone had any more recent experience with the latest GS5 update? My phone keeps threatening me with the update, but I have successfully fought it off so far. Should I update? Should I not update? Should I do like my daughter and get my GS5 stolen, so I won't need to worry about it? (BTW, Sprint refuses to brick stolen phones. Bah!) Thanks in advance.
  9. So did the much-maligned Dan Hesse. His incredibly-stupid-at-that-time board of directors totally torpedoed him.
  10. Is this just on the Enginerring screens, or other places too?
  11. My Sprint Zone auto-updated yesterday or the day before, and is now fairly thoroughly hosed. I have reported through the app. We shall see if Sprint notices either my report or the problem itself.
  12. Looks like WiMAX may finally be shut down in my part of northwest Chicagoland. My aging EVO is stuck on "Searching" and won't lock onto a channel, where yesterday it would lock and populate all the parameters. It is showing channel 2647000, but no bandwidth, Rx power, IP address, or any other WiMAX parameters.
  13. Thanks, but . . . Sensorly data for that area is mostly empty, although it suggests speeds might be OK. I was hoping to hear from someone who recently has actually been in or near the building.
  14. This thread has been rather silent lately, but I though I's see if anyone is still watching: I am working a trade show in the Georgia World Congress Center in late February, and wondered if anyone could comment on Sprint coverage in Hall B. Specifically, is LTE likely to be strong enough inside Hall B to drive a hot spot at reasonable speed? On the Sponsor map, I see 3 sites somewhat close, and the Ultimate Coverage Map shows that Sprint claims perfect coverage, but I can't really tell much from that. Thanks in advance.
  15. The difference is that shipping companies charge ONLY the shipper. And mobile companies charge the recipient, and under net neutrality should charge ONLY the recipient. Greenie is correct, and the analogy absolutely makes no sense.
  16. My prediction is that AJ will continue to post bizarre and absurd media clips, which (in spite of the fact that they sometimes make us all want to strangle him) are almost always directly on point, and sometimes even funny.
  17. Either you left off accessible/replaceable battery or that's what you meant by external battery (I wasn't clear). As my GS5 ages, and I don't plan to replace it for another year, being able to plug in a new battery will become increasingly important. Woe to GS6 (and iPhone) users when they are faced with the same problem.
  18. . . . Or, RootMetrics will need to change their DL/UL ratio weighting to account for TDD. The even FDD DL/UL ratio is actually a disadvantage for most LTE applications, as the UL channel is seriously underutilized in congested situations, as is evidenced by many of the recent TMo speedtests that have been posted in other threads. Sprint's uneven DL/UL ratio on Band 41 provides far more efficient use of spectrum, especially when users are streaming (streaming downloads vastly more data than it will ever upload). It is RootMetrics reporting which needs to change, not Sprint's use of spectrum.
  19. Flying into LAX is easy. Then you have to leave the airport and deal with LA traffic. THAT is the hard impossible part!
  20. My battery life seems to have gone to hell. The GSam battery monitor doesn't show anything which is hogging the system, the battery just drains really fast.
