  1. Yeah that makes very good sense. So if you dont mind explaining to me what the ultimate fix will be and what they are currently tweaking? Sounds like they are prepping for the quickest handoff so that the phone is losing little to zero voice packets I just dont know how they accomplish that technically and why it is affecting our service so severely right now.
  2. I am seeing similar behavior where I am onLTE then on eHRPD and down to 1x and back to eHRPD etc. Only happening since the 9.0 update but as mentioned it also somewhat coincides with the soft launch of VoLTE in Chicagoland. I have done all the carrier updates with no luck but have not full reset yet. Has anyone found a permanent solution to this?
  3. My old man always taught me...if its nice out, keep it out
  4. Having exactly this with more than att. Comcast VoIP for instance. I have google voice integration do you? Also been having complaints recently from att and Comcast VoIP that I sound very quiet and muffled. But nothing as bad as today's silence. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  5. I don't think you can pull those down speeds on a 5x5 sector like b26 operates on. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  6. Perhaps this is why http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-touts-network-upgrades-chicago-including-launch-spark-lte-service/2013-12-10 More info here: http://www.fiercewireless.com/press-releases/sprint-turns-volume-3g-and-4g-lte-chicago and more http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprints-hesse-spark-tri-mode-lte-service-could-eventually-provide-real-worl/2013-12-10
  7. I believe it has been mentioned before but it seems like when I am on LTE and receive a phone call it drops to 1x 1900. However, when I am on 3g and receive a phone call it connects to 1x 800. This stands true 100% of the time for me albeit I have only checked on a few occasions. Any one else noticing the same or different? Has there been an explanation posted for this yet? It's not really a problem in the Chicago suburbs because cell spacing is pretty good...just thought it was weird that it was so consistent.
  8. It is all over the Nexus 5 device topic here http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4989-lg-google-nexus-5-users-thread/ There are 87-ish pages of it so I dont have specific comments to pull out for you. But if you check out that thread you will see unanimous opinion that the nexus 5 is an RF beast.
  9. Good news is with the improved RF performance of the Nexus 5 I have yet to see any of the typical LTE dead zones during my trips to work and back through the western suburbs. For LTE signal its an easy 10 db higher than my HTC One and sometimes more. Band 26 would be nice for indoors but even still I hold signal much stronger indoors than before. My friends HTC One will drop to 3g where mine still holds -95 to -100 db of LTE. Haven't gotten to the city yet so I am sure the slowness/SNR problems still exist there unfortunately
  10. Found out the N5 has a magnetic ring built-in around the lens housing for add-on lenses. Source here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1q6jv7/nexus_5_camera_has_magnet_ring_builtin_for_addon
  11. Yes the iPhone 5s supports 1900mhz cdma/evdo/lte as well as 800mhz cdma/lte Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 4
  12. You will see a definite improvement in cdma signal quality yes. There are very few towers in the west loop that have not gotten their 800mhz upgrade. Most of them are broadcasting 800mhz or will be shortly. I would suggest becoming a sponsor so you have access to the full site map. It would give you a clear view of where towers are located and what upgrades have been done to them.
  13. iPhone 4s does not support 800mhz cdma voice unfortunately.
  14. Anyone else notice the gmail/email notification previews suddenly reverted back to standard notifications? I was able to preview the message with option to reply/forward using the notification pull down when i first updated but somehow it has reverted back to pre 4.2 behavior. My friend has the Sprint HTC One and his still does the gmail/email preview so I wonder what I could have changed. Maybe I just need a factory reset
  15. This may have already been answered so I apologize in advance but how is sprint proceeding with NV now that they own clear. I know they plan to put 2600 on all Sprint towers but never heard what they are doing with Clear towers. Are they keeping all existing Clearwire leased towers and converting them to TDD-LTE? Will they be adding 800 and 1900 carriers to clear towers as well?
  16. I dont understand the purpose of purchasing the spectrum and not using it on every site. Its like purchasing a sprinkler system for my entire yard but only activating one sprinkler lol. Is it costly for Sprint to add an additional carrier? I imagined it being a software configuration change somewhere.
  17. Robert, do you foresee Sprint keeping the public up to speed with the spectrum migration as things progress or are we to rely on our own tools? Has Sprint announced any concrete plans yet for the USCC spectrum in the Chicagoland area or is that still TBD? Thanks. Rob
  18. Yeah Winfield road is bad until you get near CDH. That road is right at the edge of a pair of towers to the east and west. I am sure it has something to do with that entire area being either forest preserve or catigny golf. Sprint must not be able to build towers on certain zoning or perhaps it is not cost effective to do so. Also I have noticed that kicking off a PRL update will trigger a rescan for 4g and in my experience is the equivalent of toggling airplane mode. May be a moot point but thought I would toss out an alternative. Rob
  19. So this is probably a super n00b question but how did you get the rf numbers to show up in the pull down menu? Edit: Or up in the left hand corner too for that matter
