...questions from a still-learning (and long-suffering, out-of-contract, looking-to-upgrade) ten year Sprint customer--inclusion of the 800 band enables more reliable data and voice connections when indoors? And which bands do current phones offered by Verizon and ATT utilize? Thanks for this wonderful resource.

Teaser: iPhone gets two new models but no LTE band *trifecta* on Sprint

...which upcoming Android phones will feature tri-band radios? This whole situation is awful--I have looked forward to upgrading our phones as LTE apparently is on the way to our home (West Kentucky). Our two choices are 5s and the Note 3...and now I read that these phones are inadequate--and I have no idea what bands our yet-to-arrive LTE will utilize!
And what about Chicago's LTE bands. Will a tri-band radio help make things right if you are a Sprint customer there?
Finally, does Verizon suffer from these problems? Big Red is looking better to this out-of-contract family!

Orlando Network Vision/LTE Deployment schedule update

...I posted in early September '12 about our Sprint service in both Cocoa Beach and Disney/Lake Buena Vista, after my family's August visit to these areas. To recap--Sprint service (both phone/messaging and data) was unusable...and our battery life (in three different devices) suffered greatly.
We have just returned from a return visit to both areas, and indeed, Robert was correct when he responded to my initial post with a hopeful note. The Sprint service at the Disney resorts and parks, as well as Cocoa Beach (in the RonJons area) was much-improved. I do not have a 4G device, but I can say that the 3G Sprint service was much better, in January '13, than it was in August '12.
Thanks for this wonderful service.

Thanks for the quick response, Robert. Your website is wonderful...and we're a ten-year Sprint family. I will look to sponsor. Thanks again.

Orlando Network Vision/LTE Deployment schedule update
in The Wall
A group blog by The Wall Editors in General
Our family has traveled to the Cocoa Beach area (and now the Disney area) for years...and we just returned from yet another journey to these Central Florida areas. We have three Sprint phones...and the Sprint service (especially data) was virtually useless at the Cocoa Beach, Universal Studios resort, and Epcot center resort areas...over a weeklong period.
In addition, the battery life, while in the Disney area, suffered dramatically...for all three phones...to a level that I estimate to be 50% of normal. Upon our return home, the 3G data speeds and the normal battery life returned.
Does any of this make sense?

My initial post on S4GRU was about 15 months ago, on this thread (I think). Around New Year's Day, my family and I will be visiting Cocoa Beach again. Only this time, my wife's father (stricken with cancer) will not be joining us for the 'walk on the beach' (a big deal to us midwesterners).
Is Sprint's 4G LTE in Cocoa Beach (near the pier)...on the beach...good enough so we can do Facetime/Skype video chats/calls with Grandpa?
Or not?
Thanks.
