I couldn't agree more with your comment!!!
The ad could easily be talking about sprint. My really criticism was that sprint doesn't talk about it the same way. I see the tmo ad imply yes we know we sucked in the past but we've made progress. Try us out.
Vs saying yea Sprint is 1% off from being Verizon. Which I suspect most users don't believe or understand.
Or saying we slash our prices which gets folks in the door. But idk
All in all Sprint can or should advertise better and keep up on the network

Looks like Paul and Marcelo are 100% in on this together. The network improvements are happening. Once Three Carrier Aggregation goes live in the coming months, we'll notice a huge jump in performance.

I usually try to steer clear of this Sprint vs T-Mobile fanboys war, but...
This has nothing to do with a "fanboys war" as you put it. The FierceWireless comments section was poorly moderated and you had insults, doxing and spam galore from accounts with throwaway emails.

I dont get it, you guys are happy they removed comments? people need a place to vent and sprint bashing is not allowed on here, now they are just going to be even worse on the sprint reddit page.
The comments were beyond useless. Just a bunch of guest accounts with throwaway emails spamming insults back and forth.
I'm glad they're gone.

I know. I only used 16 days because that's how long the Olympic games are supposed to go one for.
True... but it matches T-Mobile's promotion which is scheduled for the same period: 8/1 to 8/31

I feel like not many people are going to switch carriers for 16 days of service in another country. My guess is there majority of these folks will just pick up a prepaid SIM while there.
Would I have preferred for them to be first? Yes. But ultimately the amount of lost or gained customers seems like it'd be negligible.

According to the Fine Print: "Unlimited data is in Brazil for a limited time: Aug. 1-31."

Anyone here heading off to Rio?
T-Mobile announced it was doing this back on July 21st, so it's nice to see Sprint respond competitively on this.

Dr. John Saw (Sprint CTO) just dropped the news on the Sprint/Ericsson relationship going forward:

Yeah, that is what I don't get. It isn't permitting, many have been open and extended for nearly a year. I'd assume the ALU-Nokia merger wouldn't have impacted the supply chain this dramatically since there was an existing order....
I guess COWs will be deployed in force to supplement.... Here's what Sprint did for the inauguration back in 2013.
Sprint Prepares its Network for 2013 Presidential Inauguration
Sprint has been aggressively preparing for the inauguration since April 2012 – boosting wireless voice capacity by 25 percent and increasing data capacity by 37 percent for numerous cell sites around the National Mall and downtown Washington, D.C.
Other Sprint preparations include:
- Deploying three Cell Sites on Wheels (COWs) at key locations near and around the National Mall – including the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History – to further enhance the wireless experience of inauguration attendees.
- Installing in-building repeaters at the Capital Hilton hotel, the Washington Marriott Wardman Park hotel, and The Mayflower Renaissance Washington DC Hotel to boost wireless coverage throughout these locations for hotel guests and the venues’ numerous inauguration events.
Hopefully Sprint puts this on the fast-track for January 2017.

In the markets I follow (DC/Tampa), I haven't seen Clear B41 equipment swaps in mass. Any other markets noticing that work being done?
I'm hope Sprint will fast-track upgrades for Washington, DC, especially given the huge crowds expected for the Presidential inauguration in January 2017.

The first "Paul" commercial was really successful.
Marcelo said in the call today:
I have discussed previously how perception has lagged reality on both accounts, and we're starting to break through with one of the most successful marketing campaigns in Sprint's history. As I mentioned earlier, all networks are good today, so it was time to make that point clear.
With the help of Paul Marcarelli, the actor who used to ask if you could hear me now for Verizon, will launch an advertising campaign to highlight the fact that networks today aren't that different so customers shouldn't have to pay more. The campaign has been one of the most successful in company's history with over 1 billion impressions already, as the ad has been viewed over 8 million times on YouTube, with nearly 300 million impressions on social media and close to 100 million impressions on broadcast media.

Galaxy 7, galaxy edge, Note 7,IPhone 7,HTC10.
Also he said 3x will go live within the next two months which would hit the target in September with the launch of the iPhone.
Marcelo said:
This includes bringing LTE Plus to even more markets and further unlocking the power of our deep spectrum position. Sprint has more spectrum deployed on LTE per consumer than any other carrier today. And no other company has the spectrum to unlock the power of carrier aggregation like Sprint does. We're already rolling out devices in the market that supports three channel carrier aggregation that are expected to deliver big speeds in excess of 200 megabits per second when we were allowed three channel carrier aggregation in the network expected as early as – early 2017.

like I said before, I have a feeling the G5 might be part of that list. And maybe the axon 7
The LG G5 doesn't support 3xCA: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-409-teaser-lifes-good-with-volte/
The LG G5 LS992 is not 3x CA B41 capable -- unlike the Sprint variants of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Quote from John Saw
"we have five today that support three channel carrier aggregation including the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the GS7 Edge."
Unless I'm missing something here... It doesn't add up:
S7
S7 Edge
HTC 10

John is up for the day. He's on Twitter doing what he does best. He's trashing the results. I did however find this funny.
I think John should be more concerned with all this backlash he's getting for this new $20 "assistance fee"

John C. B. Saw - Chief Technology Officer
Hey, Jennifer. Just as a background, 74% of our postpaid sales in the quarter was CA capable, so there has been a rapid improvement and increase in CA capable phones. In terms of 3CA phones, we have five today that support three channel carrier aggregation including the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the GS7 Edge. Three more we haven't really announced yet, but we will be doing some demos around that. So, the array of devices supporting CA is going to continue to increase and we expect to be rolling out upgrades to the network to support three channel carrier aggregation in a couple of months.

iPhone 7?

Seems that was quoted over in FierceWireless comments. I'm curious to know who the heck is Salty Robert?
TS
Lol... Perhaps the ghost of Fabian?
By the way: The coverage map was last updated on July 8th... and if Sprint now says there are 237 LTE Markets, I'd figure the Coverage Map would show an update.

New Sprint commercial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b50GPIm99Pg
Seeing Paul in Sprint commercials will never get old. I hope Sprint sticks with him for a long time.
The original TV ad featuring Marcarelli has been viewed more than 8 million times on YouTube.
Marcelo went through the Metrics of the original ad during the Call this morning, and the numbers/impressions are truly staggering. I'll pull them from the Transcript once it posts to Sprint's site.

OH my God, fiercewireless and others news outlets haven't even posted Sprint news yet. Had the quarter been negative the article would gone live at 8 am.
They're waiting on Moffett.

Another is probably the Note 7.
I'll bet you're right!
-
Carrier aggregation capable phones, which allow for higher data speeds, were 74 percent of postpaid phones sold during the quarter, increasing the number of these phones within the phone base to 35 percent.
This 35% Figure from the Investor Update should jump substantially with upgrades to the iPhone 7 this Fall, so it'll be interesting to see what the next Investor Update shows for the quarter.
On top of the iPhone Forever upgraders, Users with iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will be eligible to upgrade to it via 2 Year Contracts as well (since it's been enough time), which is what will help bump this figure way up.
Please Apple: Let it be 3xCA

Hmmm... I guess he rolled out of bed late this morning...
He probably fell out of bed with this news.
Or maybe he didn't roll out at all.

It was clear from the call that Marcelo is expecting the iPhone 7 to make this current quarter huge for Sprint in terms of upgrades.

Sprint should bring back the Network Improvements Interactive Map that it had on its website... and keep it up to date.
