5g : what's required ?
bucdenny replied to Seandarcy's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
64T64R is 5G capable. Sprint can smoke it's competitors asap by deploying this antenna. Will boost its 4G network and ready for 5G. -

Does anyone know if the 64T64R is widely available and how much does it cost comparison to the 8T8R antenna? Wondering if Sprint can get 50% of its sites with the 64T64R equipment this year. -
Anyone received the update?

It looks like it only takes 3 months to get these small cells approved in San Diego. Usually, it is very difficult for the mobile carriers to do anything in San Diego.
-
Maybe not traditional back hauled. https://opendsd.sandiego.gov/Web/Approvals/Details/2035656 says UE relay.
-
Looking at the Mobilitie applications, looks like many are only taking 3 months to get inspected/approved. Once approved it is live.

Another live Sprint small cell. Mobilitie SD90XSE47B https://opendsd.sandiego.gov/Web/Approvals/Details/2035656

Verizon also use same type of setup.
-
I remember LTE hunting looking for signals off the I-5 & CA-52. That was one of the original live LTE sites in San Diego. I was only a few months old on S4GRU!
-
Yes sir, it's almost complete. Keep eye out on Sprint sites, we maybe start seeing them install new B26 equipment soon.
-
Yes Sprint still upgrading. We should be expecting B26 EOY, that should fill in all the 3G holes.
-
I only see B25 on C&G Block 10Mhz in San Diego. Waiting for it to be 15Mhz wideband. We used to have B25 5Mhz on A Block. When I was in LA, I noticed B25 is also 10Mhz?

If you look at the small cell post on October 25, 2017, it is dual carrier. I will go check them. Maybe they are all dual carrier.
