I don't think Sprint is in a position to launch VoLTE yet. There are still WAY too many places in every market where LTE gets weak and drops to 3G. Sprint has this problem more than any of the other top dog carriers. If Sprint launched VoLTE today and had a decent line of handsets to use it, call drops would be an enormous issue given the current state of the network.

I actually left Sprint about 8 months ago for Verizon but after I recently bought both a SIM-free iPhone 6S Plus and a Nexus 6P, I decided to give Sprint another chance. The network is definitely better this time around. Some time in the last 8 months, several things have happened that makes me say this: 1. I can now get band 41 at my place in Morrisville (Davis Drive at McCrimmon Parkway) and its solid enough for both phones to remain parked there. 2. In Cary, Sprint has finally upgraded the equipment on the water tower at Walnut Street and Maynard Road near Cary Towne Center. That entire area has been 3G-only for ages. Now it's got some great band 26 coverage going on. 3. Overall I seem to be seeing less 3G than I was 8 months ago. That's always a win. For me, the biggest problem right now is that 3G-only tower at Cary Parkway and James Jackson Avenue because it covers the Park West shopping center in Morrisville and the Maynard/High House area, which is a place I go frequently. When/if Sprint gets that one tower upgraded, I'll be rocking and rolling as far as LTE goes.

Absolutely is recommend it. It's a great phone and the Sprint issues will get fixed soon. Honestly, if you have Wi-Fi most places that you go, just force the phone to 3G and you'll never encounter these issues with calls and texts. It's only a problem when connected to LTE. For me, it's worse when the phone is connected to WiFi. So, I just leave my phone off Wi-Fi and it does OK. I hardly ever miss calls, and if people complain about getting multiple copies of my texts, I just flip the phone to 3G until I'm done. That always solves the problem. This is definitely something Google and Motorola can fix. It will most likely require changes to the radio firmware which will be included in a new update. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

I have no texting issues at all. I use GV for texting because I swap SIM cards regularly depending on where I'm traveling. I do all my GV SMS in Hangouts and haven't noticed anything. I am also not integrated with Sprint. Sent from my iPhone 6 Plus using Tapatalk

The thing that sucks about the Apple SIM as it pertains to Sprint is that carrier freedom is a one-way street. You can take a Sprint-purchased iPad Air 2 to another carrier (T-Mobile for instance). You will not, however, be able to take your T-Mobile-purchased iPad Air 2 with an Apple SIM and bring it to Sprint. The reason? Sprint whitelists IMEI numbers in the activation system that is used by stores and customer service. Historically, Sprint and other CDMA2000 carriers will only whitelist IMEI numbers for the devices that they sell, and occasionally devices sold through third parties like Google Play. A perfect example of this is the Nexus 5. If you bought it from Google Play or Sprint, you could activate on Sprint with no problem. If you bought one from T-Mobile, a Sprint store would send you packing because the activation system doesn't have the IMEI for that phone due to where it was purchased. The fact that the Nexus 5s sold at T-Mobile are exactly the same as the ones sold at Play or Sprint is immaterial. The same goes for the 2013 Nexus 7. Verizon would only be able to activate a new SIM for it if you bought it from Google Play or from Verizon. If you bought it from T-Mobile, you were out of luck unless you had a Verizon SIM that was already activated on another device. Verizon didn't whitelist IMEI numbers from T-Mobile's device stock. There is every reason to believe that this will continue to be a problem on both the iPad Air 2 and the forthcoming Nexus 6 when attempting to activate them on CDMA carriers. Out of curiosity, why do you guys order from Best Buy rather than just buying directly through Sprint? Are y'all doing contracts? I only ask because Best Buy wants $799 for the phone while Sprint only wants $720. If you're buying full price, there really is no good reason to buy from BB unless you just have to have their device protection plan.

Interesting. Admittedly, I probably haven't kept a phone long enough to have these problems, but it's a shame that the "long-haulers" are having these problems because the GS3 was a high quality product IMO.

That's one thing that's nice about Samsung still using hardware buttons...you can use the home key to wake your device rather than putting the entire load on your power key.

Sprint has no native service along the AA Highway until you get close to Cincinnati. If you had service at all, it was most likely "extended" coverage on nTelos or roaming on Verizon.

In southeastern Kentucky I know that Verizon roams on Appalachian Wireless. I would assume Sprint does too.

I joined the G3 party a few weeks ago with an AT&T variant, then Thursday I found a Craigslist ad where this guy wanted to swap his Sprint G3 for an AT&T variant even-steven. I've had an active Sprint SIM in my Nexus 5 for a while as a backup. I decided to go all in and bit on the guy's offer so now I'm rocking a Sprint G3 as a daily driver. Comparing the AT&T and Sprint models, I immediately noticed that Sprint's screen is brighter at equal brightness levels and it doesn't have the problems with over sharpened text that the AT&T version does. Sprint has decent service in my area and they're testing Spark here too. I'll be buying a Galaxy Note 4 next month so if I end up hating Sprint in day to day usage, I can just put my Sprint SIM back in my Nexus 5 for a toy and go back to AT&T for a daily driver. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. So far,so good, though. [emoji106]

This just happened today. The tower that i stay connected to at home is now identing as Sprint B41, ID 311490. [emoji106] According to the debug menu on the phone, I'm still connected to band 25, but the fact that the ident has changed is still meaningful, especially when I've been getting weak band 41 near that intersection for about two weeks now.
