  1. I was once again by Bay Ridge in Brooklyn and I tested out speeds on Band 25, Band 41, and 3G. These tests were performed on my friends iPhone 6 and this is what I got: Band 41: 11.36 down 8.96 up 42ms ping Band 25: 2.23 down and 1.72 up 66ms ping 3G: 1.23 down 0.96 up 96ms ping These tests were performed at 7:30pm. I must say I was blown away by Sprints 3G speeds. It was consistent when I ran the test twice. Band 41 wasn't crazy fast compared to other results that I have seen but you can browse videos and do anything with those speeds I got. Band 25 was slow but enough to allow anyone to watch a video and social media. Overall, I am very impressed with Sprints speeds and improvements.
  2. At&t is great but the data caps can certainly be frustrating and with Sprint providing unlimited data, I won't have to watch my usage. At&t is now offering rollover data and maybe that will help me a lot but I still want unlimited. A friend of mine averages 9-10gb of data a month and never has to worry about caps or overage fees. Awesome feeling.. Makes me jealous all the time. I'm very impressed at how much Sprint has improved. They have come a long way from 2011-2012 when I had them.
  3. My job requires me to constantly be emailing and calling my clients so talking and being able to pull up an email at the same time is something I do everyday. Is a must for me and to suddenly lose that would be a big blow to me, unless of course I'm on wi-fi.
  4. Really? I did not know that. Will Sprint ever deploy small cells in crowded places such as Citi Field or Yankee Stadium?
  5. Does Google Voice use your same phone number or does it give you a different number? I've never used so I don't know how it works I have the Magicjack app that allows me to call using data as well but it gives me a phone number with an area code from Florida. I just use it to call people that I don't want knowing my personal number.
  6. Reading all of this makes me anxious to switch back to Sprint but as I said once before, I will probably make the switch when the new iPhone comes out later in the year and by then, I'm sure NV would have gotten better. One thing I will miss however will be the ability to talk and surf simultaneously as I can with At&t. Anyone know when Sprint will offer VoLTE or something that will allow me to talk and surf?
  7. I was in Bay Ridge. 3G was very slow. I thought that with NV, speeds would improved. Also, Band 41 has slowed down a lottttttttt. I was surprised at how much speeds have dropped. That was in the second week of January.
  8. I was near the Verrazano bridge on an iPhone 6 and in 3G I was getting .17 Download. It was so slow and this was around noon on a Saturday.
  9. Wow very interesting. I will probably wait for the new iPhone to come out later this year to switch but can't wait to see what Sprint does this year in 2015.
  10. Could you explain what MIMO is and adding another carrier? I can only imagine how better Sprint will get. Rebuilding takes time. People don't have the patience, I for one didn't but I can't wait to switch back. I had t-mobile for 10 days and went to at&t. I didn't have service in my office and I'm there for the most part of my day which drained my battery. This was back with the iPhone 5 before the iPhone had wi-fi calling. I returned the phone, got my money back and jumped to at&t.
  11. I have noticed. When I was with my friend in Brooklyn and two months ago I was seeing those super fast speeds, I was ready to make the switch then but I have still been hesitant in doing so and then on Tuesday when I saw those slow speeds, It discouraged me but now I understand why. I'm not under contract with At&t so I can make the switch whenever but I want to wait for the entire rollout to be complete for Band 26 and Band 41. I know Band 25 can be slow at times but in NJ around Lodi my friend was getting 25 down on Band 25 and we were streaming an episode of house of cards and it played straight through without buffering. I was very impressed. Note that this was on an HTC One M7 that only has Band 25 capability. Same friend also went to CT to visit family and we streamed another episode and it played the entire way but it did buffer a few times but just for a few seconds. I couldn't believe how much Sprint has improved.
  12. I can't complain about at&t, it has been great for me. I only get 3gb of data which is the sucky part but in terms of speeds and service, can't complain. I was with Sprint a few years back and I want to switch back but I want to hold off a little longer until they complete their entire rollout.
  13. Another question, back in late October I believe it was, I was in Brooklyn again with the same friend and I turned off her LTE so I can test out 3G speeds and they were ridiculously slow. I thought NV was suppose to bring faster and improved 3G speeds. Again, this was on an iPhone 6. It was around noon and speeds were about .17 down and 0.00 up.
  14. Ah I now I understand. I'm with at&t but I follow this website and any chance I get to do a speedtest on a friends phone and check what band they are on, I take.
  15. I was with a friend in Brooklyn (near the Verrazano Bridge) on Tuesday and she is with Sprint on an iPhone 6 and she was connected to Band 41 and when I ran a speed test, her ping was 159ms with 5.59 down and 5.15 up. About 2 months ago in the same location, her ping was about 19ms with 60 down and 40 up. What happened?
  16. So I got a letter today from Sprint letting me know they miss me and want me to come back. I was one of many who paid their ETF and went to At&t on June 2013. I want to go back to Sprint but I'm very hesitant. My first time with Sprint left a bad taste in my mouth. I joined Sprint when the iPhone 4S came out and it was a horrible experience with their super slow 3G network. I know Sprint will pay my ETF as it says on the letter I received but I am still not sure whether I should go back. Will I regret it if I switch back? I know their B25 is not fast and in NYC their are many B41 sites already online. How is their B26 coming alone? That will be very important for me since I would hate to lose LTE when I'm inside a building. I get LTE everywhere with At&t and cannot complain but there isn't anything better than having unlimited data. I don't consider T-Mobile since their rural coverage sucks. Many times I leave the city and I need reliable service and I get that with At&t. I understand Sprint is rebuilding their entire network and it is a slow process but will it be worthwhile once B25, B26, and B41 are fully online?
  17. How will 8t8r help improve Sprint? Can someone please explain this.
  18. Bummer. I'm gonna have to check their website.
  19. I really like your idea. I had not thought of that. I might just do what you suggested. I think Sprint now gives 30 days to return the phone and cancel your service rather than the 14 days that all the other carriers give.
  20. I am normally in Queens. It is where I work in Springfield Gardens.
  21. Hello everyone: I was a Sprint customer from 2011-2013. I tried to ride off the storm but eventually could not stand the slow data speeds from Sprint so I paid the ETF and jumped over to at&t. Tremendous improvement. So now Sprint has been catching my attention with some great new deals and I am tempted to switch back but the main questions is: has Sprint improved? Is their data and calling much better? Are data speeds reliable and fast? I live in NYC and I would appreciate everyone's input. I don't want to switch and later regret it. Please be honest and don't trash Sprint either. I know they are still working on their network but I would switch back only if their network and data speeds have improved.
  22. I work in Springfield Gardens, 3 miles from JFK Airport and get no service with Tmobile in my office.
  23. I just joined AT&T and by dar, their LTE speeds are wicked fast. I am extremely happy with their service but I wish i had unlimited but I am not a heavy data user so I dont worry about going over my 3GB data limit. Sprint won't have the fastest LTE speeds but I am pretty sure they will be successful once their new network is completely rolled out across the country.
  24. So I appreciate everyone's feedback and now I will give everyone my long story of what has happened the past 3 weeks. I was with Sprint for 18 months.. Very long 18 months. I chose to sign up with them when the iPhone 4S came to Sprint and because they offered unlimited data. The first month with them was great. After the first month, everything went down hill from there. I stayed with Sprint because of this site. I never had any problems with voice coverage but when it came to data, the speeds were terribly slow. There were times when i really needed my data and it was useless. After 18 long months, I decided to give Tmobile a try. I paid the ETF which only turned to be $100 since Sprint deducts $10 from the ETF for every month you're with them. I joined tmobile, gave the downpayment for the iPhone 5 and i only lasted with Tmobile for 8 days. Did not have coverage at work and in certain places where I had full bars and '4G', the data would not connect. LTE was wicked fast in certain places but I hated the fact that I didn't have coverage in my job! And it rural areas, coverage sucked. So after 8 days, I returned the phone to Tmobile, got a full refund and joined AT&T. I must admit, I am extremely satisfied with their service. Great coverage and great LTE speeds. I have no complaints so far about AT&T. Only downside is I only get 3GB of data a month. With Sprint the most I ever used was 2.86GB. I don't use much data. At work I am connected to wi-fi and at home as well so I don't worry about going over my limit. I still use my data the same way I used it with Sprint, I was never a heavy data user. I stream pandora, surf the web all with wicked fast LTE speeds. I was trying to hang on with Sprint for as long as I could but I just could not take their data speeds anymore. My contract with AT&T ends 2015 and I hope by then Sprint's service is great and will definitely switch back to them if I see improvements in their data service otherwise I wouldn't mind staying with AT&T. I still check this site every single day and read up on comments and check the maps because I am a huge fan of this site and really wish Sprint the best. I am excited for their future and hopefully in 2 years, I'll be right back with them.
  25. That's a speedtest at 1am and hardly anyone is connected around that time. You have to try a speedtest around 5-6pm when everyone is connected and then you will see the true network vision 3G
