    There was a COW from someone next to Neon Garden. Two sets of long panels and two sets of large square panels that had 8 cables going into the bottom of them. AT&T had a COW next to Kinetic Field which for my AT&T friends, it didn't seem like it was even turned on. However I saw an AT&T guy climb up on top of the truck to get a picture of the COW and the grounds with it. I thought I took pictures of them with my phone, but I can't find them. T-Mobile had intermittent LTE in various locations. The edges of Neon Garden and then the stage right of Circuit Grounds. It wasn't usable really anywhere during peak times in Kinetic, the garage area or the walking paths. I too was able to get the push notifications pretty reliably from the Insomniac app. At least the PlurFi network worked well enough inside the garage area to coordinate meet ups / post stuff to social media.

    Well I was slightly out of it. I meant to say Band 41 2600 MHz. The map shows many sites accepted but not live. I'll blame it on the EDC hangover also. @nexuss4g - I saw a DAS out front of one of the main gates. I didn't look for equipment inside the track. Did you have reliable service at the track? T-Mobile didn't, AT&T didn't, and Verizon was spotty most of the time. My Sprint hotspot wasn't charged up so I didn't get to check Sprint out.

    Since the B26 map shows that many sites are accepted, is it just a matter of sorting this out and then it goes live?

    I live across the street from Bally's. Just tested with my Mifi and didn't see anything yet. I'll keep looking.

    Shentel and Lumos Networks (the fiber/wireline portion of nTelos) have a partnership. http://www.valleynet.com/ If Shentel were to overbuild on the same towers as nTelos, Shentel wouldn't have a problem getting fiber to the towers because they have access to it via the Lumos Networks fiber. That would be assuming they can make an agreement for the circuits. Most of the towers are probably owned by a 3rd party anyway so it would just be getting the fiber circuit backhauls installed.

    T-Mobile offers International Call blocking, International Text blocking, and International data blocking to make sure you don't have unexpected roaming charges.

    An interesting note, when Sprint first launched International roaming on CDMA, they allowed unlimited data and text in Canada on EVDO. They probably did this to iron out any billing issues. Granted there wasn't facebook or twitter back then for me to use my Samsung A900 Blade on other than googling an address. I don't even think there was a mobile version of google maps back then on WAP. However unlimited texting while in Canada has remained free.

    You actually can send/receive texts for free to/from and inside Canada with Sprint. It just comes out of your plan bucket. So if you have unlimited texts, you have unlimited roaming texts in Canada. However thats not so in Mexico. Its a high rate per message there.

    Fashion Show does seem to have upgraded this past month. I'm not sure if it is served via a DAS or not. However before I left for vacation it was very slow at the end of July, then I came back around the 7th and it was usable and worked well.

    Sprint currently uses the ulaw codec to interconnect with other carriers and to backhaul all the calls from a tower to a switch. This is the standard legacy codec for the PSTN. AT&T and Verizon are hit or miss on if the call is backhauled via ulaw, usually it is compressed. With AT&T, the call is further degraded because of the half rate GSM over the air codec between the phone and tower. Verizon has the option of ulaw or g729 (a compressed codec) from the tower to the switch and switch to the PSTN. So call quality can vary with them. I do not know what codec they use between handset and tower though.

    The Sprint iPhone are unlocked for International use (just call the International roaming department and they will unlock). I have tested a Verizon iPad 3 on AT&T and it is unlocked. However I had to provision the SIM on an AT&T iPad to sign up for the plan and then move the sim into my Verizon iPad. I have used Telus and Bell Canada on my iPad as well. I recall that all iPads are sold unlocked, so you should be good to go on other GSM networks. LTE may or may not work though depending on the bands the carrier is supporting and which iPad/iPhone you are using.

    Just an observation: While setting up our new SIP service to Sprint Wholesale, Ericsson was on the call. The SIP switch Sprint seems to use is the same Nortel model that Verizon Business uses. So it didn't make sense to have Ericsson listening in.

    Slightly off topic but still relevant. My personal experience has been that T-Mobile's EDGE is actually able to provide a data connection most of the time when I fall back onto it versus when I fall back onto Sprint's 1X. Here in Vegas I lose Sprint 3G and end up with the 1X circle on my iPhone. Even though 1X is considered 3G, bytes rarely seem to flow over the air on it here.

    Fox 29 said that it was caused by welders who made a mistake and caught something on fire. They couldn't put it out so they rappelled to safety.

    However each cellular base station won't be transmitting at 100k Watts or more like TV stations do.

    I was on the LAVO patio today at the Palazzo and got an LTE signal. Some around the back side of the building too near the Sands Convention Center. Maybe this recent push was to make sure all the C level execs could use their phones during the CTIA convention this week. Probably not, but once I find the Sprint reps there I'll ask. Inside the Sands Convention Center, they definitely upgraded the in building coverage. Data actually worked there this time. Back in January/February I'd get signal but couldn't do anything with it.

    Full signal LTE at Flamingo and Maryland. I didn't get the Engineering codes though. I was driving through after lunch.

    Were you making these calls from a cell phone to another cell phone or from a landline to a cell phone? Cross talk is really common in landlines so if its landline to cell phone, I can understand that happening. Cross talk is not that common in an all digital path such as cell phone to cell phone. Unless someone has a digital test set plugged in and is doing "network quality monitoring". The only other idea I have is that somewhere along the path, there was a wire tap happening and it got misconfigured.

    Before I moved, I had a realization that if I lived in Vegas, I couldn't gamble here anymore. So since my banks are still just on the East coast, the high ATM fees around here help deter me. I'm here to work outside of the tourism/gambling industry so other than the occasional trip to the spa, I should be ok MacinJosh - Thanks for keeping track in the spreadsheet and I'll keep a watch on my field test menu.
