  1. I signed up for Sprint's unlimited kickstart plan and noticed there is a lot of "extended network" coverage near me. Today was the first chance I had to test it when I left native coverage. It switches to US Cellular but all I got was the R indicator on my phone. Same indicator when it switches to Verizon. I have my settings as Automatic for network instead of Home only. I also have data roaming turned off. Basically my question is, how can I know when I am on extended network instead of roaming? Most of the coverage west of me shows extended network with very little roaming areas. I don't want to get charged for roaming on accident.
You won't be charged roaming while in the USA. Period. End of story.
Turn on data and enjoy.  Talk and enjoy.  Text and enjoy.
VZW/ATT data will be slow/unusabled and you only have a 100MB bucket.  After this bucket is used you are cut off.  Everyone else data experience should be usable and treated as if native.
USCC should count as same coverage as being on Sprint, the R is for roaming into 1X not LTE.

  2. I was in Atlanta and Sprints 5G coverage was impressive but most of the time it felt like LTE speeds with a 5G icon. Kinda of like AT&T's 5GE. When band b41 LTE didnt work good then neither did N41. The highest speed I managed was around 450 which is great but it was not common. Also the fact that it was using LTE at the same time makes it even more obvious that Sprint is not putting the backhaul as a high priority. I went inside the Atlanta aquarium and had full bars of 5G but speeds at best was around 15mbps. Meanwhile Verizons LTE was doing around 75mbps and 40-60 upload too.
All and all I gotta say I was left fairly disappointed and now see why Sprint needs T-mobile.82a9541d24835e4d44b5bf9f77455c13.jpg

  3. USA Mobile Network Experience Report (July 2019)
    https://www.opensignal.com/reports/2019/07/usa/mobile-network-experience
Here’s where Sprint stands. Lots of work to do... although Sprint was only .1 behind AT&T in 4G availability percentage.
That's likely because att still has a HSPA+ footprint will no LTE but B14 which is only LTE will change that as that gets rolled out

  4. Not really sure, I think a single carrier would max out around 35mb but with carrier aggregation you'll get more than that of course. In ideal conditions I can get close to 50mb around the island.
As far as I know Sprint can do 20x20 cause they do C block from the merger with the other carrier I forgot the name of

  5. Seems like a slap in the face really.  Doesn't Ligado own 34x34 (entire LTE B24) but GPS sits right in the middle.  How much more do they own? B24 goes up to 1660.5MHz. This win is 1675-1680MHz.  Not even close to B24.

If the merger fails SoftBank needs to buy the rest of Sprint then purchase that spectrum.

  6. This merger and the resulting DOJ circus is turning into a house party where everyone brings a booze to throw into the 32 gallon pale for the Party Punch!    LOL.... How many more players/ companies will the DOJ entertain before getting this done?
This is the most bizarre regulatory approval process!
I would say both Dish and Google is a good thing as that means more money for the new 4th network.

  7. I don't believe Sprint/SoftBank will die. SoftBank has simply never given Sprint the capital it needed to compete. Masa put Marcelo in there to slim the company down and prepare it for a merger. At the same time, Marcelo fed the market stories like this: https://www.cnet.com/news/sprint-ceo-give-us-two-years-and-our-network-will-blow-past-rivals/ (May 27, 2015)
It's unfortunate that in the dogged pursuit of a merger that Masa passed on the 600 MHz spectrum to pursue a monopole deployment strategy, which everyone in traditional tower telecom (given their own inherent self-interest of course) said wouldn't work... and it didn't (costing $180 Million in the process).... and now Sprint is in the position of having to deploy 5G on a nationwide scale, without the economic benefits associated with having lowband spectrum to do it. Furthermore, Sprint's lack of lowband spectrum is one of Sprint's primary justifications for the merger with T-Mobile.
The DOJ and the market at large shouldn't grant SoftBank a merger under these circumstances. Real competition is keeping 4 carriers on the market. Reducing the market to 3 competitors is a net negative overall in my opinion.
Best performing network within two years, which never happen

  8. It and most others were slated and actually prepared for VoLTE in January when the decision was made.

It's funny because Google actually included the sprint IMS settings for sprint volte but sprint didn't block the Pixel 3s access capabilities. Hence why force enabling it works on all sprint eNBs (macro + A4/3/MB OG - Gen3).

Since you know more than anyone on here Bud, you think the S9/ note 9 will get it at some point or do S9 users have to wait for TMO!
