  1. Not necessarily at a profit. Just selling them to pay off the EIP. My reason is rather straightforward...I'm a gadget nut. Nothing nefarious.
  2. Haha <sheepish grin> ...honestly? About every week or so...or every other week...over 25 devices this year alone. But I'm doing it the exact way Sprint store employees (including a manager with whom I am acquainted) told me to do it. I can't remember their reason, but they insisted EIP was better than buying the device outright and they're the ones who suggested the port-in/port-out process I am using. Never had an issue until now - and that coincided with my purchase of an iPad from Best Buy on Sprint Easy Pay so I'm even suspecting that might have caused some sort of red flag to set off in their system...was the first time I've purchased something from Best Buy like that.
  3. I really like BLU's phones, particularly the new Pure XL. I really, really wish they'd support Sprint's LTE bands.
  4. So I go through quite a bit of devices.....I like to try new things constantly. The easiest way I've found to do this on Sprint (my carrier of choice) after consulting with Sprint employees is to maintain a Net10 burner phone, buy Sprint devices on Installment with a port-in, then port my number to the burner phone temporarily when I am ready for my next device. When I port my number out of Sprint, it cancels that line and the EIP is due - and I pay it immediately. Then, I place another order with Sprint and port my number back in. Again...this is a process endorsed by local Sprint store employees who have always been very helpful to me. My Sprint account has now been fraud blocked....to the extent that Sprint store employees can no longer pull up my account. It doesn't even exist in their RMS system any more. I understand why they may be concerned, though I have now explained what I am doing and the endorsement by Sprint staff to Sprint corporate. So I would think that would solve the issue.. However, I feel like I am being given the run around to some extent. I finally got their attention on Twitter and spoke with a Tracy in the corporate office, and then someone named Nora Armstrong in the Executive and Regulatory Services office yesterday evening. They seemed to understand what was going on and indicated the issue would be solved soon, but no dice. Still waiting for a call back from Ms. Armstrong, as she told me she'd give me a call this morning, Eastern Time - we only 25 minutes left! Anyway....anyone else ever run into something like this? Again, I understand why this activity might trigger a fraud alert. However, I have always paid for my devices and service promptly and wholly....I even asked Nora about this, because purchasing an unlocked device isn't an option for me as most are not compatible with Sprint. I get that I'm the issue....not disputing that. Just wanted to share what is sadly a funny story and wondering if anyone else who is as much of a gadget nut as I (well over 25 smartphones owned this year) has run into something similar with Sprint? And if so, how was it resolved? If this is all disjointed and makes no sense, I apologize in advance...about to head into a meeting!
  5. I actually just switched back to the GS6 edge+ after cancelling my HTC One A9 pre-order and am loving it! Might be my favorite phone yet!
  6. They had an Android smartphone....not sure if they use an Airave at home or not. How does this make a difference?
  7. On a separate note....I'm not expert on cellular technologies, however....I think I just heard one of my favorite Sprint store managers give absolutely incorrect information to a customer. Someone who knows more than me please correct me if my assumption that this is blatantly incorrect is...incorrect. Here's what I heard the manager tell a Sprint customer: Surely this isn't a line endorsed by Sprint corporate??? Sprint isn't using VoLTE in Virginia (if at all, anywhere) so all calls go over CDMA anyway....so this makes no sense to me.
  8. Wish I could answer with certainty, but I am afraid I do not know for sure. I do hope so. Have to be honest, I am getting cold feet on this one and thinking of cancelling my preorder....HTC hasn't been as forthcoming with information on this one as I'd like for them to be. Might just wait until it's in the store and I can go hands on.
  9. I think it will (at which point it can be used on T-Mobile, too), however I haven't yet received direct confirmation of this. FWIW, I was told by someone that all purchases directly from HTC.com are unlocked.
  10. Uggghhhh. I was in a Verizon store yesterday actually; traffic and inventory spot-checking. Anyway, you are right.....they seem almost disgusted to regard anything but their way as an acceptable business practice. I was hassled, cajoled, and bothered by several reps in my ~5 minutes in the store. "Just looking." or "Do you have x in stock?" are apparently the literary equivalent to opening Pandora's box in a VZW store!
  11. My experience with T-Mobile has been that the coverage maps technically tend to be accurate....if one is outside. They absolutely do not represent fair in-building coverage, however. I've had T-Mobile reps go so far as to argue with me that I get indoor coverage in a certain location because their beloved coverage map says I should when I actually have nothing. The key has always seemed to be indoor vs. outdoor coverage, which of course is a characteristic of their band 2/4 spectrum in non-12 markets (like Virginia).
  12. Fair point on that service credit. I can't believe Sprint is charging $29/month for Easy Pay....well, not Sprint. Driven by HTC, I am sure. That's why I am surprised to hear the M line will also continue - at $29/month, this is priced above or on par with M series!
  13. Sadly, Sprint's Lease price is still $80 more than the price to buy the phone from HTC out right!
  14. I despise Comcast. I despise Verizon. Have been fncked by both in the past. Merger or partnership doesn't matter - I'm simply not surprised that they're working together....demons tend to do that.
  15. Carbon Grey. Based on initial reviews, this device seems like it just might be HTC's savior. Having been a dedicated fan since the days of the OG HTC Evo 4G, I am anxious to get my hands on a fresh, new HTC device. My M7 was ok, LOVED my M8, and my M9 was meh. I am probably as excited for the A9 as I was for the iPhone 4S. It looks and sounds as though maybe, just maybe, HTC has finally listened to the feedback from their faithful fans and produced the perfect smartphone. We shall see!
  16. So I preordered my A9 directly from HTC today. Hoping they ship earlier than 11/6! Added Next Day AM service, too. Will let you all know what I think as soon as I get it!
  17. Until all your employees grow old and die off - and you realize there's no one there to replace them!
  18. I am inclined to agree with you. Have been attempting to place a pre-order at sprint.com for the past hour and no dice! I can't imagine there's huge demand for this thing?
