  1. Thanks Jaded! That is exactly where I'm coming from. I used to be employed by a cell phone provider that said you had to have a contract for post paid even if you BYOD but there was a way around that. You just needed to call customer service after activation and prove you started with your own phone. I'm getting the same message from the Sprint store even though they always said the contract was the cost for the phone. Just looking for some tips if anyone has been able to do this successfully with no contract.
  2. Hello all, I left Sprint for T-mobile back in August. T-mobile is going great but I still may come back to Sprint once the network matures. I'm really liking getting full postpaid style service with no contract. Is there a way to do this on Sprint without a contract? I have a Nexus 5 I would like to use. Thanks!
  3. Reporting in on my 32 GB Nexus 7. I have found no problems with the build quality so far vs the original 7. Its a stunning device and my new favorite toy. The display quality is amazing and the colors are much improved over the original Nexus 7. According to Anandtech the display rivals the iPad 4 http://www.anandtech.com/show/7176/nexus-7-2013-mini-review/2 The corning glass is much more slick. Your finger glides with ease. Its a premium feel. The sound is also much improved. Its still not really loud but definitely better with the speaker positioning. The device is overall really responsive and with Android 4.3 improvements you can say goodbye to the "android lag". I did experience a few moments where the tablet completely locked up when opening some apps. I believe this is mostly due to developers not being ahead of the curve on this OS. Battery life is again outstanding. Even better than the original 7 yet it has a smaller battery. This is the device of the year unless Google can somehow top this with the Nexus 5.
  4. Everyone who is getting the new Nexus 7 please report back about any issues. The first few batches of the original Nexus 7 had problems with screen separation, image retention, failure to power on and blown\rattling speakers. I ended up with one that really doesn't like to power on sometimes. I have the 32 GB version on pre-order at the Play Store.
  5. The fine print on the new Unlimited My Way plans throttle streaming video to 1mbps. Anyone else noticed and what do you think? I cant get an answer from Sprint surrounding when this would occur or if its always. Taken from here http://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/shop_landing.jsp?pagename=whysprint&plan=unlimited "Streaming video speeds may be limited to 1 Mbps." Streaming high quality Netflix on a 1920x1080 phone screen would seem not possible on Sprint.
  6. OKC LTE has been nearly non functional. Try going to these sites in the night time. You will notice they are blazing fast. I thought at first they were just working on then but I noticed the same pattern on a a Sunday night too. I think its probably due to the low density of 4G complete towers OKC has. Everyone and their mom is connected. My phone will drop EVDO for even a scent of LTE. Sadly it then drops LTE and turns into ping pong between the two.
  7. Ignore me just realized I started connecting to a different tower now. This coupled with the one at my place of work that is barely functioning on the north sector I thought this was a more widespread issue.
  8. Interesting then I wonder what the source of the problem is. Not trying to Hijack this thread but I noticed this starting early this week after some new sites when online. I've seen some unusual issues that I dont know what to make of such as strong RSRP but poor SNR, dropping LTE only a few hundred feet from the tower etc. Thanks for the quick reply.
  9. How often or not are towers upgraded without backhaul installed? Ive noticed the sites here slow to EVDO speeds during the day and then 20+ Mb at night. One would really think T-1s on an LTE tower would be a no no.
  10. I noticed that during the daytime the SNR is really low and at night it goes way up as so do the day speeds. These are towers where the RSRP can be -90dBm with an SNR of only 3-10 sometimes. At night the SNR gets above 20.What does this mean? During the day in OKC LTE is slower than EVDO.
  11. It seems over the last few days all LTE towers I connect to are nearly unusable for some reason. Now at 4am they work fine. Strange how all the sudden they overloaded at the same time.
  12. Let's say we dont get a developer edition like Verizon. Does anyone know if there will be a truly stock rom on the Sprint version? Everything I've seen so far are just mods.
  13. To further that link here is another showing it will support carrier aggregation. http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-lte-advanced-with-snapdragon-800-processor-spotted-12-06-2013/
  14. If your area didnt have native 800mhz Nextel spectrum do you still get 1x advanced? The reason I ask is I don't believe there is any 800mhz holdings by Sprint Nextel in OKC. So where is it going to come from?
  15. Thats the tower by my house. I have a new FujiFilm HS35EXR camera on the way. I'll be taking a lot of pictures soon for this thread.
  16. LOL crap it was always 87. Okay so I guess that one tower reaches half of Oklahoma City?
  17. There is no way the the Penn and 59th tower would reach downtown. I mapped data from downtown with a very strong signal. Also there is a tower active on 10th near OSU OKC. I believe there are 3+ towers active.
  18. LTE is live in downtown OKC. I mapped it on Sunday on foot. http://www.sensorly.com/map/4G/US/USA/Sprint/lte_310sprint#q=200 N harvey oklahoma city
  19. Tulsa gets everything first. Man we feel like chopped liver down here.
  20. Nobody knows as its in an apartment building. I was able to get near those speeds down the street and well out of the range of the airave.
  21. I dont have an Airave but my neighbor does. When connected to the Airave it will say EVDO Rev A. Instead of Ehrpd. I used *99 to check if I'm connected and it and I'm not. Is it the data or voice connection that makes is say Ehrpd?
  22. Check out these speeds I picked up at my house last night. Maybe NV is creeping into OKC under the radar. Is it possible to be connected to a tower for voice and an Airave for data at the same time? This is my only concern about the legitness of the speed test. I'm getting 1.2Mbps right now with 2/6 bars.
  23. Hi folks, Looks like there is some news showing Clearwire's intent to merge with Sprint instead of Dish. The news also indicates a shareholder meeting to vote on the deal will happen by Feb 28th. http://www.eweek.com...or-restructure/ Keep an eye on Clearwire stock Monday morning.

    LG Optimus G

I picked up an Optimus G sealed new from ebay as a LTE hold over until the GS4 or the Note3 comes out. Pretty cool phone but I don't think I can go back to LCD after being spoiled from Amoled. Couple of things bug me about it though. 1. The camera is pretty bad in comparison to the Epic 4G Touch. Even though its 13MP it reminds me of a 5MP in terms of quality. I also noticed it has a hard time focusing as well. Photos are really warm. 2. I get some sort of feedback\interference sometimes in the ear piece when I talk. Its mentioned on the web there may be a shielding issue with both the Nexus 4 and the Optimus G. Anyone else get this?
  25. Anyone have the Powerpoint for new devices for 2013? I know somebody has the legit one that uses code names
