Network Vision/LTE - North Wisconsin Market (Wausau/Green Bay/Appleton)
convict2324 replied to n9ovreric's topic in Markets
Oh thats unfortunate. It makes sense I guess since the last update was in Nov 2015 on the non premier one. Are the premier maps out of date too? Anyone actually been to Door County with sprint recently? I had ATT when I was there 2 years ago and it was just improving. I have T-Mobile now as my main line and I know it's just throttled and capped att roaming there with them. I wanted to bring my Nexus 6p on Ring Plus and use their native coverage in Sister Bay since it will be better than T-Mobile roaming. -
Network Vision/LTE - North Wisconsin Market (Wausau/Green Bay/Appleton)
convict2324 replied to n9ovreric's topic in Markets
Anyone know what is happening with the sites in Door County? They were NV complete a long time ago, but years later they are still 3g only. Sprint's coverage map seems to indicate these received LTE since it shows LTE all up the peninsula. Are the maps just out of date or does Sprint really think their 1 LTE tower across Green Bay is enough to cover Door County with LTE north of Sturgeon Bay? -
Network Vision/LTE - Phoenix Market (including Flagstaff, Prescott)

I was the 2nd poster in that Reddit thread to confirm my LTE DIscovery was showing Band 26 and the GCI's were 0A/0B. I live in the Northwest valley and saw these GCI's and trusted LTE Discovery, it looks like I was mistaken and it was just the 2nd Band 25 carrier. The signal strength was about the same as the normal Band 25 I connect to so it makes sense it is just the 2nd Band 25 carrier. -
iPhone was on freedompop, want to bring it back to sprint postpaid
convict2324 replied to markjcc's topic in General Topics
Freedompop's customer service isn't great and I haven't tried this with freedompop specficially, but I did it with Ting. I called Ting's customer support and they moved the imei from the prepaid database to the post paid one and I activated it on my postpaid count immediately after. If freedompop is giving you trouble you could try activating it on Ting, then immediately call them and have them return the eligibility for a postpaid account and hopefully you can activate it. -
Nope 100% stock never rooted ZVA.
-
I tried to side load the update and it boot looped after flashing and was able to .tot flash back to zv7. I was definitely on the ZVC bootloader and recovery so I can confirm you can flash back from ZVC.
-
That's been the entire mornings discussion . Most of us have had success getting the update by clearing the data from google services framework.
-
The google services framework seemed to work for me too. I restored back to ZV7 and got up to ZVA quickly. Then it wouldn't pull the ZVC update but after force stopping the framework and clearing data then checking for an update about 4 times it finally showed up.
-
True boot loop is a more apt term . I'm about to do the same thing. Coming from HTC the restore process on this phone is so much more annoying with LGFlashtools requiring a lot of work to set up right but luckily I have already done it before so I should be up and running soon. This time I'll be patient and try the google framework method.
-
Just a note for the adventurous and impatient type, do not try to adb side load the update. I downloaded the update zip from the google servers and then side loaded it in stock recovery and even on a stock unrooted ZVA build it bricked my phone. This happened to quite a few people apparently and luckily I can restore back to ZV7 when I get a chance. My data was all replaceable on my phone so it's not a big deal but just be patient!

The wifi calling would be a sprint feature they build into the manufacturer software like Tmobiles. AOSP doesn't support it hence why the Nexus 5 doesn't have it on Tmobile nor does the iphone since apple keeps their software closed off and sprint/tmobile can't modify it to put in wifi calling.
-
I'm not sure how it would work exactly. Theoretically it could connect to LTE but their 3G network is proprietary so you definitely won't have 3G. You would have to be on edge to make voice calls and since the phone requires eCSFB network side to receive calls while on LTE I would be surprised if everything worked right. You will most likely be on edge the whole time on china mobile due to their crazy network theologies.

ioroot on xda works very well for root. It doesn't list sprint support but it works fine. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

Also my understanding is the update will be ZVC, plus the almost non existent description I call BS as well. Rumor has it the delay is because they are adding wifi calling.

Would that explain my evdo data dropping for a few seconds every 10 min? My area is in progress on upgrades so there is no LTE or even NV equipment.
-
Hm i hope so. It hasn't caused any significant issues yet but it is annoying. I kind of hoped it was because of upgrades in my area or something but as long as its not a hardware issue with my phone I'm alright. I just don't want to get a replacement phone. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

Hey all, I just got my G2 and am having an issue. I am in a legacy market (hopefully being upgraded) and have noticed my phone is dropping ehrpd data connection with relative frequency. My evo 4g LTE dropped evdo from time to time but it seems more frequent on my g2. It only lasts for a couple of seconds but it seems to be happening much more frequently. In my house I'm between two towers so I figured that was it but it's happening even when there's only 1 tower I could reasonably be connected to. Voice never drops and stays consistent, it's just 3g data that seems to drop on occasion even with a very strong signal. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

I noticed they quoted Smith, A Sprint General manager. It sounds like this is just some corporate store manager quoting some talking point they received that I have heard from my local store reps a few times now whenever I ask about the upgrades. They always talk about how Sprint is building from the outside in to make sure capacity is there or something unlike the other 3 carriers who build inside-> out and are all overloaded or something.
-
I hope they can get the density right for B41. It will be an amazing network (when you're outside obviously) if it is dense enough. Assuming they keep everyone who has a B41 signal on B41 then even when you go inside and drop to b26 or b25 speeds should still be great because those will hopefully be much less crowded.

Considering switching to Sprint and looking for input
convict2324 replied to convict2324's topic in Welcome
Figure I should update this. I ended up making the jump to a member here's 6 person Framily to make it 7 and even got a $200 visa gift card for switching. I'm using an HTC Evo 4g LTE and haven't had any significant signal issues so far but I have no LTE yet which is where this phone struggles most it seems. I am waiting for the New HTC One to upgrade since it seems silly to get anything now but I'm considering buying a cracked screen iphone 5 on my local craigslist for cheap to repair and use until the new htc one comes out. I am happy with coverage so far but the speeds are a bit painful right now. This is a pre NV area so I figure if I have good signal now then the good speeds will come in time, versus Tmobile who has good speeds but lackluster coverage which would require new towers or some low band spectrum to fix which are longer out than sprints NV. -
Sorry quick off topic. I'm impressed how active the Colorado thread is. Phoenix just got a ton of LTE on the latest map update and no one is even talking about it while Denver gets 3 and we are all excited. Back on topic, since Colorado Springs got 800 LTE so quickly (in Sprint terms) after their LTE launch does that mean the Denver metro will get similar treatment when it does start to ramp up? I know the springs is a more important market to them since when I lived there people always raved about how good their sprint service was but one can hope right?

I appreciate it . It's good to see speeds like that since that is what I am getting with Tmobile. I have only seen a faster test than that when I was on Verizon in 2011 when the network was almost empty with my horrible HTC Thunderbolt and only a couple of times on Tmobile so far. -
Sprint Framily $200 Visa® Prepaid Card Port Credit
convict2324 replied to bucdenny's topic in General Topics
Anyone have this offer who is looking to get more people into their Framily? I have been toying with a switch from Tmobile since their coverage is lacking for me and this would be a good incentive to do so right now instead of waiting for the new HTC One.
