So I'm confused, are we currently speculating snapdragon 800 devices, like the Note 3 might be, will have LTE-A capability on Sprint? Or are devices in the near future going to work like the hotspots and only use one slice of 20mhz TD-LTE?
-
Anyone know if this will activate on Ting.com?
I sent them an email asking, but I haven't got a response back. I have doubts about it though.
-
Now they don't appear to be free anymore. This is so confusing.
Yup. Looks like they caught on. My vote is the free price was a mistake.
-
That's not entirely accurate. Band 25 = Band 2 + G block so devices can just have band 25 instead of band 2 which other 3 ARE using. Band 26 = Band 5 + ESMR (same as above 25)
You're right. Regardless though, Sprint still has 2500 TD-LTE that nobody else will be using.
-
This could be a disadvantage for Sprint in the future. Not only does Sprint have two bands nobody else will be using, they are also the only carrier that doesn't support sim swapping. That isn't a very good mix for having a nice variety of devices to choose from.

I use it at the zoo vending machines when I don't have my wallet, otherwise I don't use it much. Easier to take my debit card out.
-
Are they ever going to build a network though? Seems like their CEO just likes buying things.
-
I don't understand how they could be surprised about the demand. Everybody loves free things lol
-
Do these activation issues also happen on a network with SIM cards? Every time I connect a new phone I always go through this excruciating experience of getting it activated (~1 hour on phone with them etc) and I wonder if in AT&T/T-Mobile it is as simple as putting in a SIM?
One of the best things about T-Mobile/ATT. Just pop in the sim and you're done.

It's definitely a feature I would rather have, but now that I think of it, I've never used SVDO or SVLTE so it doesn't really bother me much. I'm more of a texter than talker, anyways.
I use it all the time! But it won't be that big of a deal since I can still use the Groove IP app for Google Voice VoIP. Sprint+Google voice integration can be handy at times.

The lack of SVLTE is disappointing

I ordered one and lets see how it goes.
Sent from Josh's iPhone 5 using Tapatalk 2
My second order at 4:00PM (Central) got cancelled, but my original order at 2:00 was shipped and fedex says its on the way.
-
is what i got
Bummer! I'm assuming I will get the same message shortly lol
-
strange mine was cancelled
Do you mean it didn't pass validation for you or something? I just ordered two more, waiting to see if they go through or not.

My order was just marked as shipped. You can still do this by selecting Sprint, then choosing replacement device, and selecting the mifi.

I'm thinking about ordering another one... my order says it passed validation and is in the process of shipping.
If they really want to give things away for free, we might as well take them all and hand them out to S4GRU users!
Edit: Mine just passed validation too.

Yup same, could be a fluke, but if not, bonus.
I'm ordering two! lol

I would expect only a map showing Sprint's 4g coverage and not the individual bands - 800, 1900 and 2500 - for a certain area
I'm pretty sure Sprint will have different coverage maps, it will probably work like it does now for LTE and Wimax. Different coverage maps for different devices.
-
I meant to change the tolerance within a few dB, not force on 800 or 1900 when clearly not needed.
Sprint surely won't have the phone hold onto 1900 at -120 dBm when a stronger 800 signal is available, so hopefully the values they set won't need to be tinkered with.
-
That probably depends on how many people want to shell out money for a tri-band LTE device. A lot of people are locked into a two year contract with their current device that supports 1900 LTE only.
I have a feeling half of the Sensorly mappers on Sprint will buy tri-band devices almost immediately lol

Went to a Sprint corporate store, and the manager said I still could sign up with the old everything data plans if I wanted. He doesn't know what's going on with the EPRP plans though.

What does EPRP mean?
I listed those two employee links as examples, many others exist for other companies.
They were Sprint's employee referral plans. It stood for "Everything Plus Referral Program".
