From what I remember about Nextel installs, all the towers had corresponding azimuths. So if one tower had sectors set at 60, 175,and 250 degrees all panels that we installed at any other site would be set at those degrees. I'm not sure how that corresponds to anything else though. I'm sure someone will chime in on what I'm about to say so if I'm wrong someone will step in. I THINK Sprint is going to have an interesting problem here in Florida at least. From initial testing it seems the LTE signal carries further than 3G. I'm not even sure if I'm saying that right but I'm seeing that I am holding a usable LTE signal past at least another Sprint site that has not been upgraded yet. They still must be doing some tweaking in that area. West of that intersection earlier this week was giving a very weak signal almost unusable. From that cross street heading south picking up that signal was difficult until you actually got on the street it was actually on. At the time I thought it was odd because it seemed that the tower was serving just that neighborhood, especially because there is another Sprint site that is east of 34th street and Sprint is pretty far up that tower. Good to see they are still tweaking things as they go. Thanks for checking in with us.

Maybe its been there but I'm not sure. Signal seems to be getting stronger as you move east down Lumsden. Sponsors will know where the towers in that area are. I think someone in this thread something about the mall awhile back but not sure.

I have been by there a few times looking but haven't seen anything. You're right though that space is tight and you may miss what you would be normally very visible as a Sprint site. The permit you got pictures of sounds like the AT&T install that was done a while back on that site. Usually the crows nest would refer to the upper most site on a monopole. When I saw that site sometime ago they had a crane and we're replacing the panels. It was New Tech but it was at&t they were working for. Right when I gave it up OSHA was really trying to change the industry. Mandatory fall protection, hard hats, had to use the safety rails. It was really a bummer but necessary. I used to see guys ride the winch line 200 feet while smoking weed. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2

I'm about to drive by there so I'll check. What I have found is if I approach a site that I suspect is live my signal should should become better as I get closer, drop AT the site and driving by will result in the signal picking up again. For example, what I'm seeing in our area is from a live LTE site to the next that is not live about -124. I suspect if the site was live there is something that will tell the phone to hand off to the next site well before it reaches that signal level. Because we don't have two sites yet that are handoffs to another I haven't been able to test what the threshold is. This is all unscientific of course because I'm only using my phone as my tool but I think it's a pretty good place to start.
