  1. Can anybody confirm the old field test trick for dBm meter instead of bars (now dots) still works in ios 7? I can't get it to work anymore.

When I hit the power button, whilst in Field Test mode, then hold the home button to close the FT app, it just resets the app and doesn't close to the home screen. Thus, not allowing me to keep the dBm meter, which reverts back to the dots.

Is there another procedure now in ios 7, to force-close an app?

Just tried it out. The old method still works for me.

  2. It's a perfectly logical assumption from reading the press release and the FAQ that was linked. The language refers to new customers and existing customers who switch. Plus, history of wireless companies tells us that when new plans are introduced they're done because the company wants you to be on them. They are designed to generate more revenue for the Company. You start by making new customers or existing customers activating new lines sign up for the new more profitable plans then slowly push the existing base off the old plans and onto the new ones as their contracts come up for renewal. Just because they haven't come clean and said it today doesn't mean they won't say it tomorrow. Probably with very little fanfare.

In summation: I'll believe when I don't see it.

Based on the FAQ it is clear that there will still be a choice between plans:

  3. Wrong link http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/25/sprint-softbank-merger-approved/

" Softbank already owns a 70 percent stake in Sprint, which it purchased earlier this year for approximately $20.1 billion."

Just a case of poor reporting. They probably got confused with all the back and forth with Dish on who owns what.

  4. Keep up with the Betas tho. When they get a couple out they will start deactivating the old ones! I bricked an iPad one time by not staying on the latest beta.

Yup. Usually it is safe to skip a beta or two because the beta expiration date is far enough in advance that a few betas will come and go before that date is hit. For example, Beta 1 is hardcoded to expire on July 24th, there will at least be two more betas during that time. Having done every beta since iOS 4, I would recommend holding off on upgrading the beta until reports are out on any serious bugs.

  5. I haven't seen a single screenshot or even apple showing us anything for the iPad yet. I'm waiting for that as well! That's the one I really wanna play with. If the beta messes up my iPad it wouldn't hurt as bad as my i5. Like I said I put it on my 4s, but the iPad and i5 is where I wanna really feel it out. I will probably wait for at least beta 3 before I touch my i5. If I can find a screenshot for iPad I will share it here. Macinjosh is probably the one to ask. If anyone has a shot of it, he might.

Apple has a screenshot posted on their website. Go to http://www.apple.com/ios/ios7/features/ and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Not much but gives an idea of what the iPad will look like with iOS 7.

  6. What I want to know is whether this is a signed profile or he just found a way to install an unsigned one, because this is just a compressed bundle and it contains the PRL, etc. If this works unsigned, then it means we can change the PRL without jailbreaking.

This isn't a PRL. It is a carrier update file which is what allows for some low level customization of the phone (such as FaceTime over cellular, hotspot functionality, and things like that).

  7. HTC Hero

    BlackBerry Bold

    iPhone 4S

    iPhone 5

    Galaxy Note 2

Still own the iPhone 5 and the Note 2. I mostly use the iPhone 5 but switch to the Note 2 every once in a while. In between the BlackBerry Bold and the iPhone 4S, I had an iPhone 4 with AT&T. Switched back to Sprint as soon as they got the iPhone.

  8. I would upload a screenshot if the lame 500k limit was raised a little on uploads. (no cell camera takes pics that small anymore, FYI)

There are other options for posting pictures. Increasing the size of uploads allowed in the forums would certainly increase server costs which is why I am sure it is so low.

Go to this thread for a guide on how to upload larger photos using imgur:

  9. Is there anyway I can donate besides PayPal? It's just way too complicated to set up..

PayPal is the only way to donate. And if I am correct, when you click on the PayPal donate button you can donate through PayPal using a credit card without actually setting up an account.

  10. Oh sorry it's just that I thought he was like the owner of this app too xD oh and I have some info! So lately a lot of people have been looking for other people and there's been like 5 different phones that get redirected to my phone when they're trying to call who they want. They are all different people looking for different people but somehow they get redirected to my phone! Why??

    Wrong number?

  11. I don't think you necessarily have to take unlimited away. Just force people onto profiles that implement network management of speeds so that excessive unlimited users don't drag down the network.

This is the direction that I hope Sprint takes. I rarely use more than one gig a month but I like not having to think about my usage. I be perfectly happy with some sort of throttled speeds following a model similar to T-Mobile.

  12. the comcast fiber was cut last friday leaving city network unavaiable in some locations.

I had read that eHRPD can be installed as software update and no LTE upgrades are installed. Also eHRPD should allow talking and surfing at the same time.

eHRPD does not enable talking and surfing at the same time. That requires a phone that is SVDO or SVLTE capable.

lilotimz and drir took you up on the offer. Thanks AJ for stepping up to the plate, and lilotimz and drir meeting the match. This was a great idea.

Thanks AJ and thanks Robert for this site and all you do. I've always wanted to support at higher levels but being a first year teacher paying back student loans makes it difficult but this was definitely a great way to push me over the edge :)

  14.

Carrier files are pushed by OTA or from connecting to iTunes. PRL updates can be forced by dialing a number, which I don't have.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Forum Runner

The number to force a PRL update is ##873283# (##UPDATE#).

Usually if you go into the About screen under settings you will be prompted to do the carrier update if one is available.
