  1. #magentans don't want sprint because the few that came from sprint have had nothing but bad experiences. Also, most of them are Nicole Richie intelligent. Magentans are part of Legerres cult now and they think he's the supreme overlord. I've rEad hundreds of comments saying they wish that tmobile could just buy sprint, so Legerre could "fix the network vision deployment" and magically make everything happen faster. I think it's nothing but pure ignorance.

Every brand seems to have a certain irrational cult fanboy following. Kind of pathetic if you ask me personally. Definitely leads to those purely ignorant and poor founded statements.

  2. Good luck. I'm within 25 miles of the villages and I can tell you band 26 is not here yet. 1x800 seems to be in testing. On a regular prl even on a 105 dBm 1x signal it will not switch to 1x800 but with the 513 prl I get 800 voice all over the place.

It may not be optimized yet but can you tell if it has made a noticeable difference yet. I was always the most anxious to see how 1x800 would impact a rural area like that.

  3.

First screen shot is from 436 and Boston ave by the hospital across from the mall. Second shot is from the 436/I-4 E on ramp.

Calls work fine and data occasionally reverts to B25 but mostly remains on B26.

Speed test from morning on B26

Looks like you caught some 1x800 before reacquiring the B26. Finally great to see Ericsson getting their stuff together.

  4. nTelos (Sprint's affiliate in SWVa and WV) has announced a long-awaited network agreement extension including deploying B25/26/41 LTE on Sprint's spectrum, part of the CCA initiative.

For a look at what they've deployed on to date (which to date is unavailable to Sprint subs) their Galaxy S5 variant supports LTE1700/2100 (B4), LTE1900 (B2), LTE700 (B12). Our Nexus 5's support several of these bands at least at the hardware level. However, given the Spark update I suspect a separate update would be needed to enable these bands -- OR perhaps this is part of the reason for the delay, and talk of late-radio revisions in 4.4.3. If so, this would be awesome, and at least for folks in the nTelos footprint who have a Nexus 5 -- would be a concession prize for the Spark update coming rather late.

    One can dream right?

That's a lot of bands.... One can dream.

  5. I will be traveling to San Miguel de Allende Mexico for a wedding at the end of the month, and don't want to be completely off the grid. It would be handy to be able to look up touristy things and stay in touch with other guests. A few voice minutes and some light data/SMS will be all I'm using.

I have a Nexus 5, so I do have options. Should I grab a prepaid SIM of some sort to use while I'm down there, or just go with one of Sprint's offerings? Just didn't want to miss an obvious solution that might be out there, I've always shut my phone off outside the US.

    Thanks,

    -Mike

You could take advantage of T-Mobile's prepaid plans (using your N5 of course) and use their free international roaming.  I think you get unlimited text and edge data, with a certain allotment of minutes.  Would probably be good enough for a short trip and very cheap too.

Otherwise I'd probably pick up a local SIM card, but that is just my preference.

Edit: I checked up on it for you.  With their Simple Choice Plan you get unlimited texts and data.  Calls are $0.20/minute, which isn't bad for international roaming.  You can pick up the plan for $40 for one month.

  6. I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this. Whenever I try to change my band settings to anything other than b41-1, b25-2, and b26-3. Only thing I get is 0,1,3. Regardless of the settings that what I get. If I use the 0,1,3 setting will it still scan the bands properly? I'm on .15 modem firmware. I want to change it to b26-1, b41-2, and b25-3. Is there a problem with my device or is it the modem that I'm using causing this?

    Try this one more time:

    B25- 0

    B26- 1

    B41- 1

That gives me the result you are looking for. If it doesn't work for you I'd flash another baseband. I can PM you a link to the one I use.

  7. Had to fastboot reset my phone last night because my cache became corrupt so I am back on the .23 modem. Well it looks like I am having no problems connecting to the B41 site near me with it. Funny how it is hit or miss with .17 and .23

  8. Yeh...I know. Its very easy to notice that when driving about. Go from great LTE or 3g, to completely unusable. The joy!

Based on where people are reporting b26, there has to be at least 20+ sites accepted for b26.

Oh yeah there's definitely a lot of them.

  9. After reading all of this, I cannot wait for all the bands to be fully or at least 95% deployed. I think honestly Sprint will be 100x better at that point. B26 will be the savior. Can't wait.

It was pretty awesome. There were few places where I couldn't get online. It was a superb experience.
