  1. I like that even better that its a T-Mo site! Time to try out the LTE fix for 4.2.2... I never claimed that it was a Sprint site, only confirming that work was being done there and as an interested party, taking a couple pictures since work was supposed to have begun for LTE on the other tower last month. If this doesn't violate your sponsor privilege, do you know when work is to begin on the other tower? My wife is still on Sprint and she doesn't get a reliable LTE signal at our house yet. We sit in between the tower that's on Mt. Tom and one that's in Altoona, she might be able to connect to that one if work there is finished before one of the others.
  2. Yeah, and for good reason. The site is about 10-15 ft. off the road. They have various pieces suspended in the air above. I only stopped to hop out and take a pic before jumping back in the car.
  3. Here's a pic from the road for that tower by Godfather's and Taco Bell, I got yelled at for lingering when taking my picture.
  4. I was watching a guy climb the tower during the meeting I was in. I watched them send stuff up to him via cables. Looked like something that went into or replaced inside the white tall rectangular antenna pieces. I'll try to make a stop after lunch and take a couple of pics or ask around. They are pretty much right next to the road.
  5. There are two towers in that area. One is further down Clairemont by Carstar and the other one is just past Godfather's which I drive by to work. I just got back into the office from class and I saw a van with no markings that had a big metal trailer with a couple of guys inside the fence. I don't know if Sprint is on that tower but if so, work has finally begun.
  6. There's a tower on Clairemont by Taco Bell and Godfather's Pizza. I suspect that will also service the UWEC campus once upgrades have been finished. I work close to there and used to get decent 3g before I switched over to a Nexus 4 and Tmo. I'll have to get my wife who has a EVO LTE to come down there and see if she picks up LTE.
  7. As long as it makes the money to cover the bills, I don't see this getting changed drastically in the near future. Probably nothing more than just an incremental increase here and there.
  8. Kinda figured it was for that. I had heard in the early days of GS3 news that the ROM could only be flashed a number of times and that it was much lower than most phones.
  9. Try telling a friend who wanted me to fix his broke screen on an international GS2 that the digitizer and glass combo is 200. Even if you didn't have insurance on your phone with Sprint it would cost 35 for a repair which is cheaper than most of those parts for the GS3.
  10. I haven't done much looking into the flash counter but what is the significance of it? Is there a limit to the amount of times the memory can take a flashing?
  11. How many of you that have GS3s rooted yet? Of those that have, are you running a ROM that isn't stock? I'm about to root mine and was looking for some feedback on some of the ROMs out there.
  12. I have no problem with them stating Sprint's stand on their LTE is 6-8Mbps down and 2-3Mbps up. That is what Sprint is guaranteeing and what they are basing their review off of. What didn't happen in this article is any actual tests. Users are reporting speeds in excess of 20Mbps.
  13. By the way Scott's remark is the next line from the movie, but it does fit here. No need to call for the ban hammer though over a few Lebowski quotes. Everyone here gets a bit distracted from time to time and after the fun is over the intelligent viewpoints come back and everything is back on track. FWIW, i've been in the possession of a GS3 for two days now and I would rather have it over a GNex. If Sammy doesn't put out a JB update in a timely fashion, there are plenty of developers who are working on the port for it right now. However, its your personal preference as you are the one that is laying down the cash for the phone. Phones are only going to get better. Either you keep waiting for the one you want or you pick something now. You can always CL the phone in a year's time if something you like better comes along.
  14. That's "Mark it a zero, Smokey!"
  15. Can't hurt to have it in more than one place.

    My Evo LTE Died!

When I signed up last year with Sprint I had a sales rep refuse to sell me an Evo because she knew I was going to exchange it in 2 weeks for the Evo 3d. She told me that they lose 400 dollars on every exchange and wouldn't offer me service. I offered to take some refurb or returned device to save them the opening of a new device. I went to another store in the area and they sold me an OG Evo and even put me down on their hold list for a 3d. The rep that signed me up said their loss since the plan is where Sprint makes their money.
  17. I hear ya brother. My experience with Sprint since March/April this year has gone the same way. The only place I can obtain a 3g speed better than 600kbps is at work. At home or on the road, i'm lucky to hit 200kbps. I've experienced the awful speeds in Phoenix, been connected to 4g in Chicago that maxed out at 1.5mbps all within the past 3 months. I'm finding it extremely tough to not plunk down the hundred or so dollars to get out of my contract now. I'm sure all carriers dealt with those issues in your area but its especially frustrating when it happens to you. I hope that you will get power back soon, I know that there is a heat wave settling in and A/C is needed. Take care and stay cool.
  18. I bought an upgrade off a neighbor down the street for AT&T. Getting my SGS3 tomorrow. Grand total of 300ish for buyout of upgrade and phone. Porting my Sprint number over to Straight Talk on GSM.
  19. I got in on this last year when it was 125 for smartphones. Ironically that amount is also my current ETF which i'm considering paying to move to Straighttalk.
  20. I suppose the reason behind that is to allow for enough supply to reach the "full price" customers.
  21. Data caps and throttling are the complete opposite of what is needed in this cloud based world. I run everything in my house off of the internet. Landline is run by Ooma, TV is courtesy Netflix and Hulu, the occasional movie through vudu or cinema now (too lazy to bike half mile to redbox sometimes) and gaming on PS3 and PC. I know I top 250GB easy during the month. I feel for you guys that don't have access to quality wired HSI.
  22. I'm surprised Apple hasn't filed an injunction against S4GRU for using the english language that they pioneered exclusively for use with iDevices.
  23. You got that phone at 1/500th of its regular price. I'd say one helluva sale too!
  24. I too was feeling a bit underwhelmed by it. Most likely a byproduct of the hype behind the phonemongering marketing. 4.8in screen though!
  25. Target is dropping Kindle at their stores. It would really depend on the return strategy, but you may be able to get one on clearance there. Target is going to let Apple open up ministores within Target thus Kindle is getting the boot.
