  1. So back in Ames on LTE+ I was able to snag a snapshot of the LTE Engineering screen....according to it I see B26 but no idea if CA is taking place.
  2. Yep B41 is what turns on LTE+ icon...however in Ames there is no B41 but I still had the icon on. I wonder if when they CA 2x Band 25 if this causes the phone to display the LTE+ icon too? Does SignalCheck give any indication that there is CA going on? Here is the screenshot for those who asked. This was in a B41 area.
  3. I have an essential phone which is pretty much stock android. They have a signal icon that differentiates between LTE and LTE+.
  4. Its still band 25 (at least according to SignalCheck...my guess is they finally turned on carrier aggregation here.
  5. Finally something new for the area...Sprint turned something on last night as I am getting LTE Plus consistently from DSM to Ames. About time
  6. Ha I agree...but at least we can still unlock the bootloader
  7. That is actually incorrect. If you have a Sprint sim card in your Essential phone you will not get the update straight from them. You have to wait for Sprint to push it out. Hence you can either use adb and sideload the update leaving your Sprint sim card in or have another carrier sim (doesn't even have to activated) and plug that in. At that point the phone will update straight from Essential.
  8. Essential pushed out an update...for those on Sprint you can either wait till Sprint pushes it or learn to use ADB. The update definitely made the fingerprint faster and the screen touches/scrolling even better. This phone is approaching hell of a deal territory if only Essential would release the system dumps so developers can run with it.
  9. Just wanted to touch base. I got the phone Friday and activation had to be done via Sprint chat as the IMEI didn't register on their site. Post activation the phone has been great. The signal seems to be comparable to my G6 and haven't noticed it being any worse. The build quality of the phone is pretty awesome. The texture, the weight, the screen all make this thing pretty snazzy. I did put a Tudia case on it as much as I didn't want to. Definitely glad to be back to stock android. Actually the only signal thing I noticed was when it was first activated I had a LTE+ icon instead of LTE...however after a few days now the LTE+ icon has never come back. Wondering if this left over programming from the previous owner and took a few days to clear out. Also this phone does PRL and Profile updates way different than any Sprint phone I have. It actually looks like it opens a web browser to download and install them. Tethering was also hidden however you can create a shortcut with Nova to bring that back. Tethering works straight out of the box no hotspot extra purchase needed.
  10. I am getting it delivered tomorrow. I already went and grabbed the needed SIM card so should be set on that front. If the company would get the factory images pushed online I think developers would swarm to this phone. The company can't seem to get out of their own way
  11. I grabbed an unlocked one off swappa for $400. Excited to give this a try over my LG G6.
  12. Ok I am going bananas here...for the last 2 weeks this tower in Ames has not been right. Every 30 minutes or so it will completely drop LTE data with LTE connection remaining strong. My 6P will just sit and spin....then about 5 minutes later it starts to work again. Almost as if the tower itself rebooted or something. Anyone know if they are working on this tower or should I contact Sprint?
  13. Ambient display works here. If the phone is laying down with screen off and email or text comes in the display will come on as completely black with white text showing the start of the notification. From there you can double tap to get into the app and review the notification. Thats pretty much the basic premise. You can turn it off by going to Settings > Display > Ambient Display. By default it should be checked on. Now what I have found out is I am using Nova Launcher and tried to setup the double tap to sleep option (you define a shortcut that starts an app to lock the screen). However even if you have a fingerprint setup you still have to put in the secondary pin to unlock the phone. Kind of a bummer going back to using the power button for simple things heh.
  14. I have had my 6P rolling on Sprint since last night. I am a SERO customer so I had to activate the phone via chat however it went super smooth. After activation was successful I went ahead and did the factory image install of MDB08K as I wanted to start with the latest. It was nice during setup that I was able to use my Nexus 6 backup to restore apps/icons to the original state. The imprint feature is absolutely awesome. It is in a great natural place to unlock the phone when you pick it up. As for service it seems to be working as well as my Nexus 6. Haven't really noticed too much of a signal degradiation. Overall great phone for 1st day
  15. Hot damn tracking number in hand for delivery tomorrow...coming from IL...free shipping was the wise choice heh Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  16. Happy to report Google has finally charged and its moved to processing. If this is like the case I should hopefully have a tracking number by the end of the day. With SIM card already in hand I am ready...
  17. At least I will have my SIM card ready as delivery for that is Wednesday. That task has been a terrible exercise for me in the past with my local corporate store.
  18. They finally must be ramping up B41. If you look Sprint's coverage map its showing Spark covering the entire metro (however we all know that isn't true). Here is hoping to Ames soon...
  19. Hmm maybe the radio is improvements for band 41...living in central Iowa most towers just have band 25/26. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  20. I have been running it for 24 hours now...performance/battery wise definitely improvement over 5.1.1 However when it comes to radio it is not nearly as strong as it was on LTE. It will tend to switch back to 3G a little too easy in some places.
  21. Installed and running fine so far...for those with the radio fetish the build is MDM9625_104662.22.05.27R
  22. I really wish Sprint would do something with that tower in Huxley. That spot along 35 is absolutely terrible for any sort of data coverage. Its the one place my music stops on the drive between Ames and Des Moines.
  23. Well I was able to resolve my issue by going through sprint's own MMS proxy: 68.28.31.1 Definitely a sprint issue going on...
  24. Nope...this occurs in all browsers on my laptop which is connected via the hotspot. Also I have a nexus 5, a friend has an HTC M8, and another a Galaxy S3...we are all experiencing the same issue.
  25. Has anyone in the Ames area noticed the terrible image quality through chrome or using the hotspot? The images look pixelated like everything is being forced through a dumb down service on Sprint's end. It was fine until a few weeks ago. Here is post off the sprint forums to the issue: https://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/144305 Of course I have gotten zero response from Sprint.
