  1. Sprint often poorly covers nearby rural towns or rest areas (Shentel does a much better job with this). These rural areas are likely where much of the site reductions will be made because you can not afford too many sites given lower subscriber density. This will also work the other way in terms of expansion. Twice as many users will make a site viable. The urban areas will have site reductions just given the bulk of the sites are located there. Co-sites will likely be consolidated on one rack if possible and re-aimed. Same with the other retained sites. Small cells for coverage will need to be moved, possibly true for those providing better indoor coverage.
  2. If Sprint had more cash, I am sure they would be deploying 5G ready B41 equipment instead of 8T8Rs.
  3. Yes please. I and most other users in Ohio have turned off logging and/location at one time or another just by handling our phones. Quite frustrating/humiliating for those with only one phone. Embarrassing for those with more.
  4. Personally liked Ingenium's idea that liberal LTE roaming should only be used while on VoLTE to keep a call from dropping.
  5. Perhaps they are using the Clearwire PLMN because it is B2 rather than B25. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  6. For me it will depend on price, the s9+ reduced price, versus waiting for 5g phones in January.
  7. Some small cells are for extended coverage while others are for rf shadows including building interiors. Look for hospitals, big box stores, and resturants. One of ours is for an extremely popular candy factory store. Also try to get out of the path of the host b41 signal. We have also had small cells not turned on for many months even after the electric meter is installed, so check the meter to see that it is drawing power between visits (the amount of power used is very small so it is unlikely you will notice a change while standing there). It can take 15 minutes for your phone to notice a small cell. Once found, your phone will then find it quicker in the future.
  8. My issue was on August 1. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  9. Great job. Finding Massive MIMO deserves its own Premier Thread for the first few sites of each type. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  10. Trade you a 2.5 for it. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  11. One issue I saw with aggressive LTE roaming was AT&T 700 LTE would not let go as I drove through a Sprint town with triband LTE. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  12. I keep looking for T-Mobile in all the Ohio logs I do. So far only a few snippets in unlikely roaming places. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  13. If it is the product description that those are good or you ask a question on that and say they are good, you can get a refund based on the product not being as described.
  14. I can verify that from a trip this last winter. West of and including Burlington Vermont is only b26 3x3 ( no 1x800). They you run into 1x800 only after Rochester for a number of miles into Ohio on I-90. This is because Toronto had preference in historical 800 mhz negotiations going back many many decades. It is Canada's largest city. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  15. Sprint holds 15.5 and 6 Mhz of B41 Spectrum which touches Raleigh County according to the FCC database. No one else holds spectrum. The FCC plans on getting more Band Spectrum available and will comment further this fall after the elections iirc.
  16. Shentel has so much b25 they may not need B41 in many nTelos areas for a while. WISPs have all that is available in some WV towns.
  17. I would guess it is a question of priorities. Shentel is losing customers in some of its expansion areas due to limited LTE availability. New equipment has been installed for many many months yet a lot is reportedly not transmitting LTE despite coverage map claims as of a couple days ago. This was certainly true several months ago when I was last in Shentel territory. Shentel has only begun to deploy B41 in some cities.
  18. It could have helped them with % of time on LTE in Carrier comparison stats.
  19. I have seen this in Shentel territory a few months ago. Standing next to a 3g only site yet being on AT&T LTE at 3g speeds. Seems to be a bit expensive. 3G only phone used site a hundred feet away. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  20. After the March 2018 date listed for this coverage map, LTE coverage was not visible to my Sprint and Freedompop phones in unique Shentel areas in the April 2017 expansion area in/near Ohio, however a lot of new equipment was installed. The LTE deadline is 12/31 iirc. Last time they beat that by a few months. I have not checked these areas in a couple of months.
  21. I saw the same issue in Saulte Ste Marie a couple of weeks ago and also had to disable band 41 for the phone to function. Other phones could not even see the band 41. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  22. Assuming you are outside the 14 day return window, order a Magic Box as soon as they are back in stock next month. Once it grabs a faint b41 signal it won't let go. It will also spare your battery life. Worse case it will use b25 to broadcast much stronger b41 signal inside your house. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
  23. Hmmm Sounds like about what Sprint got with its Nextel purchase: 10-15 MHz equals 5MHz up, 5MHz down, 1.25MHz of 1x800 up 1.25MHz of 1x800 down. The first sites to move are easy compared to those at the end. The FCC offers almost no help at that point given what we have seen with 800MHz. I am also not so certain 600MHz coverage is any greater than 800MHz in square miles. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
