  1. Just figured out this is a waste of time. US Mobile and Verizon lock the eSim to the emei while T-Mobile only uses it to see that you have a capable phone, like Red Pocket does with physical sims (although RP does keep track of what phone you are using it on with the emei.) So @Trip was right in this case on liking physical sims.
  2. Verizon has a reputation for being frugal with MVNOs. After looking around, I also decided US Mobile was my best option. People have gotten C band on it. Hoping for esim for my S21 Ultra. No luck so far. Red Pocket does not claim Verizon 5g, although they say Soon!(TM). I do see some 5g with it. Typically MVNOs are deprioritized, thus I am reluctant to claim truly getting top speeds with one.
  3. Some more interesting articles on Dish: https://www.fiercewireless.com/5g/dish-wireless-bakes-core-principles-infrastructure-chua https://www.fiercewireless.com/tech/dish-eyes-5g-network-reliability-vericas-chaos-engineering-platform
  4. Financially makes sense, but may put them far behind T-Mobile and Verizon 5g marketing. Could put them up against Dish if Dish gets their act together and starts their public network in Las Vegas in late February.
  5. It will be interesting to see how Dish handles this. They could go the TracFone route of using the carrier with the best service, or it could just be a standard roaming arrangement with AT&T outside of their native network. The most investing comment from one of the Dish contractors was this network will also be used to replace home satellite dishes. I can see them going into the WISP business eventually.

  7. I think on esims it depends on how they implement it. If you can freely activate them on one phone while having it loaded on many that would be great. I will let you know when I see Boost Mobile native 5g live here. So far no sign of even the plmn being active which I figure will be my first indicator. I look at changing networks with the TNX Sim and seem to get a full list of all carriers and their alternate plmns.
  8. The T-Mobile and AT&T sims could also be basically generic MVNO sims. Hoping if they need a new sim, it's esim. I did hear that testers did get one. Analyzing cellmapper data appeared to show it was found by people using the T-Mobile sim.
  9. Fiercewireless was just saying neither Verizon or AT&T has a standalone core, but were waiting for C band iirc. Your report is likely a first.
  10. T-Mobile and AT&T MVNO (separate sims) with some Sprint holdouts. Many Dish towers are going up (so far without power in Columbus, OH). plmn 313340 will show mainly Las Vegas, which is in beta. Rumor is big announcement in February.
  11. esim ability for this phone is NOT included. Likely not supported by hardware. You would need to consider a sim sized device like https://esim.me I have one, but waiting for MVNO support.
  12. On Jan 15 in France Samsung started the Android 12 update process with One UI 4.0. Source: reddit.com/r/samsunggalaxy
  13. Many firms no longer admit their problems. One rumored area of difficultly is esims, another is video.
  14. Great job on your analysis of small cells versus the 3.45GHZ and the population coverage requirements. I wonder if the fcc is stalling because they may address the key limitation of of 2.5: the convoluted frequencies. Not sure how they would get there, but it would be better public policy if you could actually use a single license in current times, ie 5, 10 or 20MHz. Of course they could also go in more of a nonprofit or small business direction. But most likely they will keep it as planned given how messy the transition would be. In many/most metro areas BRS/EBS is fully licensed. Would be nice if they put pressure on the squatters.

    esim.me card

Bought a esim "sim" card a few weeks ago that operates in all of my more current phones according to its app. It arrived a couple of weeks early from Berlin. Now if my MVNOs would get moving and support more than iPhones and rarely Pixels so I can test this thing. https://esim.me The only item really troubling so far is reviews in google play store keep getting deleted, even 5 star ones.
  16. Still waiting impatiently for my T-Mobile security update.
  17. Just got the Jan 1 security update. Samsung band select app still works.
  18. It is a relatively small amount of spectrum given the many auctions and mergers of recent years. Let's not forget that small cells are supposed to be 5g midrange*. Perhaps this may help with that. *T-Mobile CFO this month
  19. The answer is about 10 posts above from the CFO: they will be used for midband. C-band and n41 come to mind, else n25 and n66. n2 if n25 lacks needed CA with other bands. Verizon has been targeting large stadiums and passenger areas for its mmWave of late, which is T-Mobile's stated plan.
  20. They have been promising me for months, and meanwhile they started throttling my videos against my contract. They might be converting by plan. Conversions are expected to be continuing after shutdown so it could be a year IMO. The problem for some of us is we are losing services and money every month compared to if we could convert billing now.
  21. Watching Peter Osvaldik, EVP & CFO T-Mobile at Citi AppsEconomy Conference. Most of the 35,000 is primary upgrades to existing small cells to add more midband spectrum. No update on Dish. Expect a faster roll-off of Dish with their AT&T deal. This would give them "a lot of capacity that we would have to go fill". They want to compress Sprint migration time to T-Mobile, both billing and network. They want a very seamless low touch friction-less billing integration. Decommission remaining Sprint sites rapidly at mid year to get synergy savings. Pull Capex from 2023 into 2022 to accelerate network buildout (more in 22 than 21). They expect more diversity on router side to help with wireless internet. T-Mobile plans on up to $60 billion in share buyback in 2023. If they are overachieving on plan in 22 they may start buybacks earlier. Source: https://kvgo.com/citi-apps-economy-conference/t-mobile-us-inc-jan-2022
  22. The other though is they will be used for the c-band. Don't remember who first stated this else I would credit them.
  23. My guess is this way T-Mobile can get rid of Sprint small cells placed in Sprint's weak coverage areas where T-Mobile now has good signal.
  24. Noticed when NSA is activated, the status bar displays the nXX as planned for T-Mobile using TNX Sim and AT&T using Boost Mobile black 5g sim with latest SCP, contrary to earlier (now corrected) report.
