  1. From what we know, the iPhone's don't rely on CSFB. From what I have gathered, when they are connected to LTE, they switch back to 1x/3G every couple of seconds so that they can check to see if their is a text or phone call coming to your phone. You won't notice if it is switching back real quick, because it only takes a fraction of a second to do so.

Ok...that's what i read i think...but i wasn't sure.  So, this is why iPhones don't have to wait for update to use LTE800....

  2. If true that this will happen over next month or so, then this means that they will break the current contract with 1500 family plan folks to force people over to FRAMILY etc.  We just upgraded 2 of 4 lines.  So, this will mean that i may look into other carriers without termination fees?

Sprint will lose me if they force me to FRAMILY bc the cost will be higher.  If they will "grandfather" me, then i will stay.  No big loss for me.  Might hurt Sprint more if more folks leave Sprint over this.

Sprint right now does not have the coverage (nor speed) to really call the shots and act arrogant like Verizon or ATT.

  3. I know that the new Android tri-band devices rely on eCSFB/CSFB to get calls across to your phone while on LTE.

Does the iPhone also use eCSFB when it connects to LTE?  That is, if a tower has LTE 800 but has not had the eCSFB upgrade, then can iPhone 5S connect to it AND also receives calls?

I read somewhere on this forum that iPhone rely on something else to do this.

    Thanks.

  4. Oops, sorry...Sugar Land Texas.  Around my house, i get band 25.  But, around my area, even down towards Needville, i get Band 26 and 25.  And then towards Katy from Sugar Land, i also get band 26.  Speed varies a lot, but i got 20 Mbps download enroute to work with band 26.  BUT, i have noticed that i have now LTE where i did not before...probably from band 26 longer range?

According to Sprint text message last week, my area will be fully upgraded within next month.  Not sure what that means...but you guys probably know more than me.

And yeah, my iPhone 5S switched seamlessly without any effects on calling/texting ability.

  5. Picture this. You're in Times Square, one of your friends has a shiny new iPhone 5S. The other has a Note 3 (Tri-Band). Because speed tests are the only thing that matters in a network (sarcasm) you decide to run a speedtest.

The Note pulls a blazing 68Mbps download. The iPhone putters along at 5 or 6Mbps. So there must be something wrong with the iPhone right? I mean, they're both on Sprint, so shouldn't they get the same speeds? They both say LTE? What's the deal!!?!

iPhone users will be at a disadvantage and the average user might think something is wrong. LTE 800 doesn't fix any of that, it should have been Tri-Band.

Right, but when John's speeds are a tenth of those with new android phones around him, he's going to wonder what's wrong.

800 LTE is installed with NV, it will be turned on later this year.

25/2600 LTE is active already in at least 8 markets, and is actively being upgraded in many more.

Most WiMax markets will be live with 25/2600 LTE by this time next year, if not before. By then Sprint will be adding it to other markets as well.

    It's both.

Will 2600 MHz penetrate with all the buildings around Time Square??  Will there be a Sprint tower even close enough to get 2600 out to where you're at?  I hear that NY ain't a Sprint town by any sort of imagination!

Likely, both of you will run at the same speed...except that Note 3 will go into limp-home mode with sudden app closure and lagging due to build up files in your system due to bad apps from Play Store.  Ask me why i know this? :)
