  1. I passed through Penn Station the other day and noticed there was Sprint native coverage down on the tracks. Is this new? It was only 3G but way better than roaming.
  2. The one issue with HD I have in my area is it that you seem to have to be a lot closer, especially to be able to get the secondary channels. Could be the radios I've used but all the ones I've tried so far seem to struggle. I do live in an area of NJ where I am closer to the NY market but I often get better reception from the Philly stations so I'm probably on the extreme edge of coverage.
  3. If you look at the Sprint user base here in NJ and surrounding states it probably makes more sense.
  4. The gang that gives us the NSA and CIA is more trustworthy than a cable company? You may be reading too many tech blogs And the former head of the NSA calls himself a libertarian so labels don't mean much anymore.
  5. Well we still don't know what's in it no matter how many pages of importance there are so I'm not sure how we can know what this all really means. And when it comes to these things the details are much more important than some summary sheet. Today in Washington huge bills are passed by members who only read a summary. It often leads to surprises later on. I did hear Commisioner Clyburn say that Google was allowed to see the rules and wasn't happy with some of it so the commision "tweaked" them to keep them happy. Must be nice to have that kind of access.
  6. Wouldn't people be better off reading the 300 plus pages that spell out the regulations rather than a press release? And unless I'm not seeing it that link doesn't even include the dissenting opinions. I'm not for this for a variety of reasons one of them being I have no idea what it entails and from reading comments today from supporters it seems they don't either. If these rules create more hoops to jump through or hurdles that end up being barriers to entry I can see the big incumbents secretly liking this proposal. If government wants more competition in wireless why don't they stop hoarding spectrum and just flood the market with it driving down prices? Selling in dribs and drabs just ensures the big dogs will win.
  7. Teal and yellow look good together? I don't think so. Teal is a color better suited to a box of tampons than a wireless carrier.
  8. I noticed a new tower is planned to go up in front of the Pru at the Boylston St entrance. I kind of like the little open space that was there. Given the boom in building in Boston the last few years I'm not too surprised. I usually stay in the Financial District and that has been non stop building there. Cambridge too.
  9. They seem to be popular with younger types so I would blame easy money student loans. Dopey parents too. Edit: I was wondering what your Bain angle was! Just looked it up. I had no idea.
  10. Yeah. I thought I saw a lot in NYC but they seem way more popular in Boston. Given the prices of them I wonder how many are fakes.
  11. I was in Boston the other week around the time of the first blizzard and it was really nice to have service on the T. Better late than never I guess. Things overall seemed a little slower than I remember from my last visit though. Still a lot better than my home market for sure. On a unrelated note, is it me or does it seem like every other person in Boston is wearing a Canada Goose parka? They're everywhere.
  12. I was in Montgomery today and managed to get the best speeds I've ever seen on Sprint. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/1133358725
  13. That was at the height of the tech bubble. Also back home DT and other telcos paid a ton of money for 3G licenses which almost broke them. After that I doubt they were in the mood for expansion here.
  14. Doesn't look that good in my area of NJ. I can't believe they are passing on having locations in Menlo Park Mall and Bridgewater Commons Mall. Just a dumb move. Especially Bridgewater where they used to have a store. Kiosks run by idiots will be left to lead the charge in this highly competitive and lucrative market. Hopefully they reconsider.
  15. You aren't going to get a better deal than you have now. $50 a month plus a subsidy? It's a no brainier to me.
  16. There was a Yeti out there too though I didn't see him. This guy was brown. Looked like Chewy a little.
  17. I saw a guy dressed like Bigfoot walking down Washington St. in Boston yesterday during the storm. Everybody in the coffee shop was taking his picture.
  18. Snowing pretty good here in Boston still. Haven't been outside yet though. I stopped in that new Whole Foods in South Boston last night and it wasn't too bad. Checkout lines were short considering the hype. Back in Jersey we only got four inches.
  19. I'm in Boston today for work. Im supposed to leave tomorrow but I'm not sure how that's going to work out. Might try to get out tonight but I'm heading back to Jersey which is just as bad.
  20. I'm sure that's true but there isn't nearly enough in the central part of the state. You'd be shocked at how few there are in Somerset, Mercer, and Middlesex compared to the competition. And it's not like these areas are some kind of backwater. There are a lot of people there. If Sprint wants to take people from VZW and AT&T they are going to need more than affiliates who can only seem to sell phones but offer no real customer service.
  21. I'd like to see more corporate stores in my part of New Jersey. They really don't have many instead sending people to those horrible affiliates. In my local mall they had a kiosk where guys used to randomly approach you asking what service or phone you were using. It was so annoying. Eventually the mall thankfully banished them to a low traffic corridor. These people were the face of Sprint to a lot of people. They are way behind the other carriers in the number of corporate stores around here.
  22. I picked up the Go Phone version of this phone the other week in case one of my kids breaks their phone. Paid $39.99 for it. Not a bad phone. It's only 512 RAM so you get some "resuming" and "loading". No double tap to wake or ambient light sensor but that's not the end of the world. Music player is still horrible despite a dozen updates. IE still needs work too. It crashes too easy. To be fair I'm running the Preview for Developer software.
  23. iPhone 6 Plus. Not sure what the problem was that day. It's a nice mall though. Never been there before.
  24. We were out at that Ridge Hill mall in Yonkers yesterday and I was pretty disappointed. Coverage was fine but everything was painfully slow. So slow I gave up trying to use data.
  25. So I did this a couple times since you mentioned it. Are you supposed to hear back from them at all? Each time I've done it I've had no response.
