Joking aside, I have done some very minimal spectrum analysis of SMR 800/900 MHz in my home market of Kansas City. The challenge is that the true TDMA airlinks -- GSM, iDEN, and IS-136 TDMA -- are difficult to resolve fully. Only the frequencies that transmit control channels are powered up full time.

For example, I could have my spectrum analyzer on an iDEN site and see only one 25 kHz iDEN 800 channel -- a control channel -- because no traffic is active at the time on the site. Thus, it might appear that the site is using only one 25 kHz x 25 kHz of SMR 800 MHz spectrum. However, if the site is loaded, perhaps 10 other 25 kHz x 25 kHz channels carrying traffic could spring to life.

So, you could say that TDMA airlink spectrum usage is highly temporal, and that makes my observations with only $3000 worth of semi pro equipment typically incomplete.

Don't forget that some of the new 800 mhz public safety radio systems are also tdma and in the 700 mhz band also.

  2. Why do people think updates come out as soon as they wake up. 2 it is a search for update in which you have to tell your phone to look for it starting today, and 1 week later it will be pushed out to all.

  3. If that is the case then how did I get my phone in 1 day after finalizing my claim?

Finalized my claim on Friday August 3rd, got phone on August 4th because I selected for Saturday delivery on Fedex Express which Sprint charged me $20 for it thru my phone account.

  4. Minor glitch...

Your Google prepaid funds are tied to your phone. If you swap devices you have to call Google to get that balance transferred.

Bonus: Because Best Buy ended up replacing my phone with a new phone, not a refurbished phone, I get the free $10 credit from Google again!

Exactly what happen with me. Called the number and within 24 hours everything was transferred. I went thru Asurion in my phone replacement.

  5. This week had a incident with my Evo 4G LTE at work in which only the LCD panel was damaged, no damage to any other part of the phone except the LCD. the Gorilla glass works quite well.

Called Assurion to let them know the situation and when I was finalizing the claim and knew that it was going to be a $150 deductible. No problllem with the rep I talked to, was told about the affadavit I had to fill out and fax in which was no problem. Come Friday and I finalize the claim.

I went online filled out the neccesary info and knew that it would cost me $20 for Fedex Saturday delivery. Short story, instead of it costing me a total of $170 to recieve my replacement phone in which they sent me a new one. Total cost to me was $100 doing it online.

Talking about something unexpected, I was to say the least presently surprised, and yes I recieved the phone today.

By the way, I had the phone in a Otterbox Defender case in which at work a container lift was involved in putting pressure on the screen in which the LCD got damaged.
