  1. I am very close to Westwood. I so frequent samo and cc, as well aa venice, so I was aware of this. Sent from G-Note 8
  2. Ok, that is good to know. Maybe I will consider the Edge. I will have to see if any deals come up Sent from G-Note 8
  3. I am hoping that when I finally upgrade to a spark device, this will be better These are my results on single band LTE, with my Note 3, Fairfax and Wilshire is the location. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1048254991 Signal always jumps back and forth from 3g to 4g, but all the other providers get even better numbers on 3G. Good thing signal strength at home is still the best of all the providers. Sent from G-Note 3
  4. There must have been updates going on because u started getting lte again. Sent from G-Note 3.
  5. So weird. I haven't gotten LTE connection near my work in quite some time. I can't seem to find the resource where it states if any updates are currently going on, but I used to get consistent LTE connection whenever I'd be on break or walking to lunch, but not anymore. Oddly enough, the 4G LTE emblem only comes on, when I'm inside the building.
  6. Came in to join the discussion and this is the only thing I have to say about the Note 3 not having Tri-Band LTE radios. No big deal, there's a good probability I'll end up upgrading again next year anwyay. I was already willing to keep the Note 2 for another year, without any issues whatsoever. Only reason I decided to take the plunge on the Note 3 was due to Samsung stepping up and offering a minimum 32gb internal storage (w/ 25gb usable). To me, that is absolutely golden and one major thing I complained about last year, as compared to anything else. Lastly, I'm more concerned about Sprint's slow NV updates, to where service at my house has gotten worse, when I was expecting it to get even better than it already was. Sprint was the only provider to have extremely solid coverage at my house, but that is no longer the case, since NV started. So, before I ever worry about having Tri-band LTE on any of my phones, I'd first like to see Sprint speed up the NV updates and make the network stable, rather than focusing on building out the extra 2 bands of LTE. I'd even be happy if they managed to improve the 3G connectivity. Another thing I'm hoping they did, since it's my understanding that the Note 3 will be a world phone, is have the SIM card accessible again (just like the Photon), as well as unlocked. Even without the tri-band LTE, the Note 3 would have great value as a "world" phone, that could be used in other countries.
  7. I was at Yard House in Marina Del Rey. No roaming no signal at all. Posted from G Note 8
  8. I called in and they confirmed NV work being done. Sprint normally has strongest signal at my house, but it went to no signal at all recently. Posted from my G-Note II.
  9. Download was around 10. Upload was only around 1mbps less than this time. Posted from my G-Note II.
  10. Test Date: Apr 26, 2013 7:09:47 pm Connection Type: Lte Server: Los Angeles, CA Download: 16.45 Mbps Upload: 5.90 Mbps Ping: 61 ms Outside my office on Fairfax and Wilshire. Much faster than it was prior to LA going officially live.
  11. Ok, I am a little more optimistic about NV upgrades. From the Grove closer to farmers market Test Date: Apr 18, 2013 8:03:12 am Connection Type: Lte Server: Los Angeles, CA Download: 25.59 Mbps Upload: 7.15 Mbps Ping: 51 ms Posted from my G-Note II.
  12. L.A. (and OC) becomes "official" as of tomorrow? http://phandroid.com/2013/04/11/spring-4g-launches/ http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sprint-to-announce-21-new-LTE-markets-on-April-12_id41757 What does that mean, exactly? Does that mean that everything will be turned on completely and folks across LA and OC will see a sudden jolt of LTE for Sprint?
  13. Sorry, I had mentioned in my last post, but forgot to re-post. Corner of wilshire and fairfax. Across from peterson museum. Same street Biggie Smalls got shot. Posted from my G-Note II.
  14. So, I decided to test the lte speed outside my office again today. 1st Test 12.7mps down 4.5mps up 2nd test 13.5mps down 2.5mps up I don't mind that at all. Hope the numbers keep increasing. Connectivity seems to keep getting better, so hopefully it'll continue. Posted from my G-Note II.
  15. So, I've noticed 4g was connecting more consistently lately at work, so I did a speed test. When outside in the strongest spot, 10.5mbs download abd 1.5mbs upload. Not bad. I'm happy with that, but the catch is that unless I'm in an ideal spot outside, it's not as consistent. My office is at the corner of Fairfax and Wilshire. Posted from my G-Note II.
  16. So, I just checked the map for the first time in a while. The tower that is closest to me is 1/2 a block away (I'm at the corner of Fairfax and Wilshire), but the 3G/4G signal is so quirky on my Note 2. According to the map, that tower is complete, but why is 3G/4G connection so awful. When I first discovered 4G going live, it was decent, but as of late...both 3G and 4G have been awful. Seems like Network Vision is going just as slow as I originally thought it would. Here's to hoping 2013 gets faster updates.
  17. Anybody in the Venice area notice any improvement in signal (cell, 3G or 4G)? I have relatives that live off Lincoln in the Venice area and service has always been sporadic for me, when I'm around there.
  18. I guess the translation to the actual streets isn't quite as noticeable, since LA is so big compared to other cities...but like I said, I'm willing to reserve judgement until they're 100% complete, which may be a year down the line or more. It's fine with me, since I'm locked into my service until 2014, but I'd ideally love to see more consistency. I can see how permitting issues is a factor, especially in L.A. I'm still optimistic that I'll be able to look back at these threads and laugh that I had any concern at all. Ultimately, there are two (2) areas that are most important to me (Home and Work). That's where I spend majority of my time and as long as those areas stay fairly strong, I'll be happy (especially at home, since it's one of the few areas in L.A. that Sprint is the strongest of all the carriers).
  19. Just a little frustrating that LA, being one of the major markets in the country, just seems not to be given as high a priority as elsewhere in the country. I'm definitely patient enough to wait until Network vision is completely finished, but I'd love to at least experience a consistent 3G signal (which I was able before) and cell signal. Thankfully, my home signal hasn't dropped off, since that was the #1 reason I had stayed with Sprint for the past 12-13 yers.
  20. While I'm happy that the LTE coverage is starting to spread slowly, but surely, I really wish that they'd concentrate on making sure the major areas are good to go and reliable, prior to moving on to other parts of the city. Lately, my 3G/4G coverage near work has been horrible. Sometimes, it's gotten to the point of my actually roaming on the street (wilshire/fairfax). There are also times, when coming out of the parking garage, it takes forever for the signal to pick up and when it does, it's in and out. I'm patient enough with the service, considering all I've been through with Sprint, but I was hoping that they'd pick up some steam leading into the New Year with the new ownership's money.
  21. So weird because I was getting decent 4g signal, picking up 4mbs, at my work (Fairfax/Wilshire). The past month has been a completely different story. 3G signal has a tough time connecting. It's the strangest thing. I'll walk closer to going inside my building and signal picks up faster. I move around the corner of the building and...nothing, not even 3G.
  22. Can't get over how great this phone is. 14 heavy usage hours for me (heavy for my standards) and am barely getting to 18%. I almost go out of my way to try getting the battery drained down. and to be able to accomplish so much within a full day, then turn around and be able to swap with another battery that's fully charged...can't beat that. Posted from my G-Note II.
  23. I called a couple local Best Buy locations yesterday. The first said that they didn't have anything to take pre-orders right now, but they were pretty sure they'd have it on launch day next week (e.g. 25th). The 2nd store I called was more definitive saying that they wouldn't be taking pre-orders, but they would have the Note 2 on launch day, the 25th.
  24. And did the same source confirm that it would be the 16gb version?
  25. I'd be somewhat disappointed if Sprint's follow-up to the Photon ends up being a Qwerty phone. If it does end up being a slide-out qwerty, I'll likely get it for the family member on my secondary line, but not for myself. I'm slightly concerned about the lack of rumors, considering there were rumors being leaked about the Photon being leaked around the same time last year. The Photon was released in late July. Deep down, I'm hoping they'll release a phone that is a sister phone to the RAZR HD and also a sister phone to the Droid 4. That would be the absolute perfect scenario for me. Otherwise, I may end up going with LTEvo or the LG Eclipse. Quite honestly, I don't think the Photon Q is going to be released next month. I think the release for Motorola's Sprint superphone won't be until August at the earliest. I think next month is actually reserved for the 3 LG phones being reported (e.g. LG Eclipse superphone, LG Cayenne midrange, and LG 710 low end). There are way more leaks on all of those phones than the Mopho Q.
