  1. This is the same tower I have mentioned in previous posts. Either they have a ton of work to do on that tower with multiple enhancements or they are just taking their time. In any case it's still not broadcasting 4G yet. I'm using the Sensorly app now to watch progress so hopefully my phone will catch it when that tower finally goes live.
  2. This sounds like the perfect app for this topic. I wouldn't suggest that anyone get Tasker solely for the purpose of knowing LTE has arrived. Since I use Tasker for a host of other things it is the natural choice for the task. On another note, it would appear that the tower I saw being upgraded is not yet LTE ready since I didn't connect on my way into work this morning. My drive on I-84 at Eagle Rd all the way to downtown via I-184 was on 3G the entire way. I now watch Sensorly daily to see the progress of LTE coverage. Thanks everyone for the progress updates.
  3. While not a true "script" it gets the job done and is relatively simple. Root is not required, you just need to install Tasker (a paid app with a 7 day trial). To set it up create a new profile called 4G Alert, then setup the trigger by selecting State > Net > Mobile Network > check 4G. It will then ask you to select a task to perform. Create a New Task, give it a name, add an action. You have freedom to do what you want here. Since I wanted to be able to know where on the map it connected, I had it send me a text message with a link to google maps. To do this click the + sign > Phone > Send SMS. Enter your phone number, and put this link in the message line: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%LOC When this runs it will attempt to grab your location from the gps and insert it where %LOC shows up so naturally you'll need to leave your GPS enabled (or you could write another action to turn it on for you). That's the basic profile. You can add more complicated things like notifications with audio. That depends more on your comfort with Tasker.
  4. It's happening! As I was driving home from downtown yesterday I saw Benchmark Electric working on a tower just off Emerald, next to the 184. I recognized the name of the company from the building permits linked earlier in this thread so I knew they were most likely working on one of the Sprint LTE contracts. Unfortunately my phone didn't connect to it though since it was most likely off while they worked on it. I wrote a Tasker script a while back to alert me when LTE connects and to map it, (successfully tested in Utah last week). Still waiting for it to inform me of the good news here though.
  5. Thanks for the tip on building permits. Here are the addresses of the two Boise permits: 1501 S Federal Way (http://pdsonline.cityofboise.org/pdsonline/details.aspx?id=BLD13-01145) 4300 S Kennedy (http://pdsonline.cityofboise.org/pdsonline/details.aspx?id=BLD13-01135) I'm only slightly disappointed they aren't closer to where I work, but there is finally proof outside of sprint representatives that LTE is underway. I live in Meridian and looked at the building permits and couldn't find anything related to Sprint, LTE, or Benchmark Electric. I'm hoping that I'm just not getting all the results and there is something in the works. Is it bad that I feel like Sprint would just have these 2 towers just so they can say "Boise has LTE, now leave us alone"?
  6. I'm very interested in this. I just moved to Boise last month from an area that didn't have Wi-Max or LTE. I was excited because my Evo 4G finally got 4G for the first time but the phone was old and ailing. When I was upgrading to my Galaxy S4 I was told that Boise was scheduled to have towers upgraded "by the end of the year." I just rolled my eyes because I've been told that before with my last phone that didn't get 4G until well after my contract was up. I'm glad to hear that there is something more concrete to base my hopes on. I've been turning on LTE once a day over the last week to check and see if today is the day. I'll post again if I see anything.
