There are a few 5 + that look like outdoor DAS around Amalie Arena

It would take someone going down there to figure all the companies that are really on the site. Sprint used a similar setup in madison market for odas.

That looks like a Commscope FlexWave Prism remote unit. Both Sprint and Verizon use those in the Los Angeles market.  Verizon typically has the model that is taller and supports more modules.  It’s hard to tell from that picture which exact model it is.

B26 live in parts of SoCal. Spread the word in new thread

I had given up on checking for B26, but I knew something was up when I was able to have several really long conversations while driving using VoLTE and the calls didn't drop.

Now it seems like my phone is parked on B26 -- which probably isn't a great thing since it hasn't been optimized yet.

Nice work! There are a few Mobilitie sites in the LA portion of Harbor Gateway as well, I can’t verify them because I don’t live in LA anymore and I only have an iPad on Sprint. I remember one on Carson one block west of Normandie...

Thanks!  I’ll check out that area.

Sprint has tons of live L1900 small cells that we don’t have on our maps, and with with them all broadcasting 10x10+5x5 L1900, the network performance pretty awesome.

It's not an official map, but Premiere Sponsors and above can check out the map I've made based on personal observations.  The map has oDAS sites (like the ones on Mulholland Drive) and Mobilitie small cell sites as well:

Not really sure what to look for in LA but I have connected to a lot of B41 MM sites according to SCP. My guess is these replaced the Clear equipment because I haven't seen any clear sites.

Any idea what the PCS spectrum is like here?

Is it 5x5 in the G block and 10x10 in the A-F blocks?

Or is the 10x10 I'm seeing a combination of 5x5 in the G block plus 5x5 in the C block

Also I have yet to see any B26 here, I know there has been some sighting but I haven't had any. It would really come in handy here I am contently bouncing between very weak B41 to weak B25 to unusable 3G. When connected to B41 speeds have been great though. Multiple sites reach over 100Mbps during none peak hours and still over 30 during peak times. B25 on the other hand is anywhere between 3 to 10Mbps even on the 10x10 Carrier.

Edit: Also noticed that Config 2 hasn't been turned on here yet. I am getting upload speeds over 9Mbps most of the time on B41

Yes, most Clear sites have the Nokia MM gear, but so do a lot of the Mobilitie sites.  Since I don’t have SCP it’s hard to say what it’s picking up on.

I believe B25 is A block and G block in LA.  Points to the south may be different.

And I have yet to see any B26. I seriously doubt it’s on air for the general public.

  6. This is old news, but I didn't see it posted.  Back in December the City of Huntington Beach reached an agreement with Mobilitie for small cell deployments on the city's light poles:

From the City Council minutes 12/18/17:

Approved and authorized execution of a Small Cell License Agreement between the City of Huntington Beach and Mobilitie LLC for installation of small cell attachments on City- owned streetlights.
Continued from November 20, 2017 meeting

A motion was made by Delgleize, second Brenden to approve the Small Cell License Agreement between the City of Huntington Beach and Mobilitie, LLC; and, authorize the City Manager and City Clerk to execute the Small Cell License Agreement.

I'll be flying into LAX tonight and I'll be reporting on the state of the sprint network there.

If you happen to notice any small cells while you're in town please let us know.  I have about 40 on the LA Metro map, but it would be nice to add more.  I just need a location, image and engineering screen to add a site to the map.  Thanks!

How does Tmobile compare at LAX? I've seen complains about them to.

I don’t know about TMO, but I have seen AT&T equipment in the center of the airport as well.

Ill pay more attention the next time I’m there.

Ok so not sure if this is the correct market but said LA.

I flew into LA last night through LAX airport. It doesn't seem to be any better compared to last time I went through LAX 2 years back. Wow data is horrible at the airport unless I'm connect to wifi. I was outside the airport in the shuttle van and was either on B25 or 3G. I couldn't get data to work at all. Shuttle van was on Verizon data using tablet and no problem what so ever.

Does Sprint plan on adding small cells to LAX or do anything? It was a very bad experience.

Verizon has multiple antenna arrays in the center of the airport covering just about every terminal.

Sprint has the airport covered from the outside of the airport property.

So the difference in coverage is not surprising.

One can hope that Sprint will improve at the world’s busiest O&D airport.

Nokia mini macro 2.5, airspan irelay 460, alpha wireless omni directional 2.5 GHz antenna.

All of the Mobilitie sites I’ve come across have had omni directional antennas. Have you heard of any multi-sector Mobilitie sites?

One of the carriers in LA is deploying 3 sector small cells on lampposts with Ericsson gear, but it’s not Mobilitie/Sprint.

I'd like to see densification take place everywhere they currently have native coverage, and build out new coverage into parts of metro areas that have been developed over the last decade.

This would be a smart strategy.  I would add:  Concentrate initially on densely populated areas with good ROI potential.  Generate a great reputation in those markets and combine it with great marketing.

It’s basically borrowing a page from the T-MOBILE playbook.

Then, when the cash starts flowing, build out the rest of the network.

Thanks for the heads up! In Ventura county, it looks like they started submitting permits in October.

Here's a description of one of the permits:

Install (2) new 800/1900 MHz panel antennas, Install (2) new 800/2500 MHz, Install (4) 800 MHz RRHs and [1] new 2500 MHz RRH's.

Any idea of what currently exists at that site?

From the "Only in Hollywood" files:  This site is in the Netflix documentary "Long Shot" at about 29 minutes in.  Cell sites, murder, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and a Dodger Game... who knew?

All Sprint small cells found in the Ohio markets have had their Cascade ID posted at the site, so it makes singling it out a lot easier.  They've all contained 90XS.  For instance, a cascade ID for a small cell found in a Cleveland, OH area suburb is CL90XSB19.  Obviously, the LA market prefix is different.  Also, the signal is quite strong standing next to those things.  I've achieved low -60s RSRP standing roughly 20 feet away from the pole.

A lot of the Mobilitie sites I've seen in this market do have Cascade IDs on the equipment, but you need a really good telephoto lens or binoculars to read them.

So I'm in  the L.A area an coverage is good. Speeds ok.  Almost got 30 on band 25. It's 10x10 here so that helps.  Seen allot of small cells but can't tell if it's sprint or not.  Haven't had band 26 yet.  Also phone stays on 800 voice awhile.  Anyways that's my input

There are a lot of small cells in LA Metro.  Sprint uses Mobilitie and its own oDAS system and mini-macros in the hills.  Verizon has tons of small cells and is on a lot of the Philips SmartPoles scattered around LA proper.  T-Mobile took over a lot of the MetroPCS oDAS system plus a few new strand cells have been popping up on Crown Castle's fiber system.  AT&T has mostly been densifying with macro sites, but that may be changing.

  16. Here's some Verizon ODAS equipment in the Porter Ranch area of Los Angeles.  They use Flexwave Prism gear just as Sprint does on their ODAS sites, but of course the antenna panels are different.  Usually Sprint paints theirs brown as well.

    C3j3T9mm.jpg

Because of the modular functionality of the Flexwave Prism, the outputs aren't labeled by frequency, but by internal module bay.
