  1. Yea it is kind of weird. Myself and another guy are getting 2 different readings from the same spot. We are getting 4G off the tower near Walmart on Huffman mill rd. and also on the tower in the park just north of the Sprint store on University. We are very close to both so I am not sure why the readings are so low. My guess is they haven't yet calibrated the antenna's but that comes from a guy that knows nothing about towers.
  2. Just got a faint signal that I mapped on Sensorly. I was on University Drive in Burlington.
  3. Yea there is a tower that you can view pretty easily from 840 when you merge onto I40/I85. For some reason I am having trouble running anything under 4G on that tower though. I stopped my car and got out to scan for it. I had 4G locked with full signal and when I run a Speedtest it switches straight back to 3G. Can anyone tell me why that is?
  4. Yea we thought it was pretty odd as well. However we welcomed the information.
  5. That idea came from the Alcatel Lucent guy I talked to. He came in to activate a few LG Viper's to use for testing. Badge said AL, the big black cases that carried the Viper's said AL, and his truck said AL. He was there to activate these Vipers so he can use it to test real time speeds from an actual device on Sprint. His words were that they were putting up 14 towers in the area to test with. Whether he was really that informed is up to anyone's guess I was just quoting what he said originally.
  6. From what I was told by the rep at Alcatel Lucent this is a more complicated market due to the fact that every tower has much older equipment and all of them will need to be completely overhauled. Hopefully he was exaggerating but my Service and Repair Rep for Sprint confirmed this.
  7. Make sure everyone is running Sensorly when you get it or drive around the areas you think it may be. I am keeping an eye on it every day to see how it is playing out. It looks like so far Winston Salem and possibly parts of High point are the only areas getting the test towers. Greensboro and Burlington are still in the dark for now.
  8. My Samsung Galaxy S 4 got a very brief LTE signal while in Winston Salem, NC. This must be one of the first 14 test towers that I was told about by an Alcatel Lucent worker about 3 weeks ago.
  9. This is very true. The strangest thing about this is that I talked with someone that was with Ericsson about 2 months ago and they confirmed that the network updates would start in September when they were contracted to do it. The rep I talked to said that Ericsson no longer has this contract. Any ideas what happened and why Alcatel Lucent has taken over? Could that explain the delay?
  10. That was the same question I had after he left. But considering that Charlotte and Raleigh are still not complete I cannot imagine this market could be 100% by the first of the year.
  11. I work for a Sprint store in the Winston Salem Market and talked with a representative from Alcatel Lucent about the Winston Salem market which includes Greensboro, Winston Salem, Burlington, High Point, and other surrounding cities. He informed me that this area will get a test run of about 14 towers in about 2 weeks but the full deployment will be started around the first of the year (2014). That is a big delay from the August - September we have been told for the start of the full deployment but I am glad I have finally heard some hard facts for this market.
