  1. Galaxy S3. I'm sorry, I'm too much of a noob to understand how to check signal strength, but when I'd do speed tests on LTE, I'd get 4-5 Mbps and then as soon as I try to watch slingbox, the picture was horrible and stuttered a lot. So I would close the app and sure enough, back down to 3G, and very slow speeds on 3G.
  2. It may just be coincidence but I seem to have similar issues when trying to stream slingbox. I'll have a strong LTE signal and as soon as I open slingplayer to connect to slingbox, I get kicked back down to 3G. I know I'm probably crazy but it just seems that as soon as i try to run any data intensive programs on LTE, I get kicked back down to 3G.
  3. Yeah, a good portion of the entire I-90 corridor west of Rt 53 seems to be very spotty. Although the maps show a few 4G towers along that stretch, I am under the assumption that signal strength must be low. The occasional 4G locks that I get only show about 1.5 to 2.0 mbps of download speed. 4g may lock on but quickly drops back to 3g. I'm hoping they fill in this stretch with more 4G coverage soon as well as 290/53 south of I-90 which seems to be a 4G dead spot as well.
  4. We live out in Carpentersville by Randall Road and have been getting frequent 4G connections in and around our home since we got our new GSIII phones a week and a half ago. However, we have noticed that often when the phones connect to 4G that the automatic time zone switches to Eastern time. It seems (from what I can tell) that the time zone corrects when the phone falls back to 3G. Is this an issue with something that the tower is broadcasting or are there problems with our phones? We are just trying to figure out if we need to talk to sprint before our return period is up. We experienced these problems on our old Epic 4Gs months ago when we went through the horrible service period as the towers by us were being upgraded, but I did not expect to have the same problems on new phones now that the network upgrades were complete by us. Makes for quite the panic when you wake up in the morning and look at your phone thinking you are an hour late for work.
  5. I experienced the same clicking last night around 5 pm as I was calling my wife (also on Sprint) as I exited onto I-90 west from Rt. 53. I'm not sure what this means...
  6. This also assumes you are closer to the city where Wimax coverage is a little more reliable. If you are out in the suburbs where wimax is spotty at best, you are also in the same boat being without reliable data coverage until the upgrades are complete.
