What's that? I live in DeKalb. Sorry for being a noob

It's the protocol that is used to seamlessly hand off 3G and 4G connections. This is a network mode that is usually seen ahead of 4G rollouts in many markets.

  2. Also I saw some brave individual at tower CH03XC518 putzing around in the high winds yesterday afternoon at the top....after I drove by this morning I saw a small dish was installed. Yay backhaul! And the tower has eHRPD AND its the tower I connect while Im at work! :-D

If you don't mind me asking' date=' what part of the east side of st chas were you by?[/quote']

On Route 64. Between all the car dealerships and Pheasant Run. I was not able to get it automatically had to toggle airplane mode in order for LTE to come up.

  4. Finally had some free time so I drove down to the tower that has 3G/4G complete I can actually see the tower haha. No 4G all but the 3G speeds are pretty amazing. If I had these speeds all day at my house I'd be happy

What network mode was this tower using? eHRPD or EVDO...?

When you get an EVDO connection' date=' does cycling through airplane mode restore it to eHRPD? Or does it stay on EVDO?

    Robert[/quote']

Stays in EVDO. This happened when I was able to get 4G in St. Charles as well....as soon as they took down the LTE signal, it went right back to EVDO. I never saw eHRPD.

But a tower that isnt listed as NV completed I get eHRPD all day long.

  6. I thought it was worth mentioning though while at CH03XC249 it said i was connected to EvDo rev.A instead of ehrpd. This is the first time i have not seen ehrpd in any north chicagoland location since early July. I thought that was interesting.

Ive been seeing this too. When Im at work in Carol Stream....none of the towers I connect to are on the map as being completed with NV upgrades....but Ive been getting eHRPD connection...at least ever since I got my GSIII on release date....

I get this sporadically. A reboot usually fixes it for awhile. Other problem I've dIscovered Is the capItal I's In the mIddle of the words. Turning autosuggest off seems to fix it though.

    Rebooting fixed nothing. Very frustrating.

  8. According to my source....microwave licences for Sprint backhaul for Chicago market were issued on 8/15 and 8/16. Dont have a time table from then. Robert, message me your e-mail and I will forward you what I have. Luckily for you.....they show tower numbers...lol

  9. Elgin is still crawling. No updated backhaul. Still waiting. Sigh:(

Sprint is doing a lot of microwave backhaul in the Chicago market to fill in gaps. I keep watching for small little dishes on the towers in my town. ;-)

Your sig says your GS3 is rooted' date=' which means you would have to take extra steps installing the update anyway. Why don't you just go ahead and do it all now yourself with a downloaded copy of the update zip file?[/quote']

Im not rooted any longer.....should probably make time to change that.....

I'm still irked that I can't latch onto this tower from my home a little over two miles away. But, with potential like this, I can wait.

This could be because of two reason. It seems that the LTE Signal threshold, certain dBm where LTE would connect and disconnect, was set very very high, and the new android update on Sprint phones is supposed to address that. Also, they might just have the tower in some sort of "test mode" where the tower won't broadcast a full strength signal...therefore you wouldn't be albe to get a signal probably more than 1000 yards away.

(nothing I just said has been verified, its just my educated guess)
