The legacy site that just won't stop. Downtown Baton Rouge legacy rebuild. New single band antennas, new coax, and legacy cabinets moved from the roof to the sidewalk during the building construction.
Figured some of you would get a kick out of these.

He wouldn't care unless it was Baton Rouge, on every site and they started infilling with new sites in between too. And I wouldn't blame him.
Still have my email notifications on this thread I see Yes, it would take a bit of work to swing back the yellow side. I still keep an eye on the Nextel sites around town to see if they are making a move yet. The kicker for me is still the downtown area is a Sprint wasteland combined with the no coverage inside the house. However I did notice they finally converted to a full build by the house instead of the LTE GMO configuration. I didn't see any 800 signals from it yet though.

It's okay AJ. You won the Internet. How is it a "problem"? Not for the FCC.
AJ
- 1
-
They signed off on it and put it on their site. Their problem.I am not sure what you mean. The FCC does not conduct the testing. Certified labs submit the authorizations.
AJ
-
Wow.. With that bad of a test report then the real world tests will be interesting.Nope, there are modest RF output discrepancies between band 2 and band 25, band 12 and band 17, and band 5 and band 26.
AJ
Edit.. As in the fcc should have done a better job.
-
Interesting that 12 and 17 aren't both listed the same.Prima facie...
Band 2: good performance (~25 dBm)
Band 4: excellent performance (~26 dBm)
Band 5: good performance (~19 dBm)
Band 12: excellent performance (~21 dBm)
Band 13: excellent performance (~22 dBm)
Band 17: good performance (~20 dBm)
Band 25: good performance (~25 dBm)
Band 26: good performance (~19 dBm)
Band 41: good performance (~25 dBm)

In the wireless world I'm a believe it when I see it type of person now.Any handset that performs poorly in the RF lab will not improve in the real world.

Only half the puzzle though. Like for instance there are no band 29 numbers since it is receive only. I take the numbers as a grain of salt. Hopefully the real world tests will be good.I don't think I've ever seen a device with bad numbers be a good performer. But I've seen midrange EIRP numbers be good performers. Like the Sprint Note 2. And I've seen good numbers be bad or just fair performers.
But anything with sub 16 EIRP numbers, in my experience, has been bad. Like the Verizon Note 3. It's LTE RF performance was awful. Probably the worst Verizon LTE device ever. My boss threw his across the room and destroyed it because he got so frustrated with it.

I honestly don't look at the numbers as we have seen some phones with bad numbers end up being good and vice versa. How's the RF performance?

That would be great. AT&T seems to use patterns of 8 here when it comes to the PSC, i.e. 32, 40, 48
I haven't looked at the PSC stuff yet for a pattern but here's what I have from my notes (figured I would share in case others need it as well)
310-410 AT&T - 1c = 1 carrier(channel), 2c = 2 carrier, etc.
HSPA Pattern
CID 11961 belongs to site 1196. The 1 is the sector/carrier designation.
The sector and carriers are as follows for the first 3 subset of HSPA channels.
1=1c, 4=2c, 7=3c of the Alpha sector
2=1c, 5=2c, 8=3c of the Beta sector
3=1c, 6=2c, 9=3c of the Gamma sector
2nd subset of HSPA
In most cases 4000 is added to the site number, in rare cases I've seen 4600 added. 1196 would become 5196.
The sector and carriers are as follows for the second subset of HSPA channels.
(sectors 4-6 seemed to be skipped)
1=4c, 7=5c of the Alpha sector
2=4c, 8=5c of the Beta sector
3=4c, 9=5c of the Gamma sector
In summary, 11965 would be Site 1196 Beta C2 and 51969 would be Site 1196 Gamma 5c.
LTE Pattern
Last two digits of GCI to determine the band
0F, 10, 11 - B17
16, 17, 19 - B4
08, 09, 0A - B2
00, 01, 02 - B5
84, 85, 86 - B17 indoor DAS
64, 65, 66 - B17 wide area DAS
Example GCI - 02C3CC0F - Remove the sector ID and convert to DEC - 02C3CC becomes 181196. The first two digits are the market/region ID. 1196 again is the site ID and matches to the HSPA side of the site. Occasionaly some sites will use the 4c,5c HSPA site IDs with the 4000 added to the number. I've seen this on older Band 4 upgrades with RRUS11 B4. I've seen them going back to the original site IDs(non-4000 incremented) when they've been converting them to B17/B4/B2 sites with the AIR21 B4A/B12P antennas with RRUS12 B12 with the A2 B2 backpack.

Very nice looking. Definitely couldn't map out any of my sites without this app.
Would it be possible to add a column or two at the end of the CSV file? The LTE GCI without the sector on the end and a band number based on the network and sector ID? I currently throw these in by hand with some Excel formulas. It helps to narrow things down on sites.
-
Neighbors on different bands also show up on mine from time to time. I figured that was done by design of the LTE table on the site. I would watch it jump from band of 17 to 4 then to 2 on the same site.Neighboring cells are other sectors visible to your device. They may be different sectors from the same site, or from adjacent sites. But these are basically all the channels on the same band that your device can switch to as needed. Your device can switch to these at any time. However, a band change would require the network to make the requested change.

I am behind on this thread but I can pm you the pattern I found on HSPA cells. They also translate to the LTE side of the site to match things up.Mike, I am currently test driving my Moto G (2014 2nd Gen) and it seems like SignalCheck takes quite awhile to update itself, I will also test my Moto X (2014) on LTE as well in the coming days. It's great to be using SCP once again!
Also any of you that are familiar with GSM tech is the CID unique when connected to HSPA/HSPA+? I am trying to figure out the pattern (if there is any) to identify the sectors.

It was all about the maintenance, installers, and acceptance teams. AT&T uses Ericsson's gear here and it works just fine.I was just puzzled about him saying ALU gear sucks. But good to know that the Ericsson gear itself doesn't necessarily suck. I just thought I remembered Digi saying otherwise.

You on that 250meg plan?AJ's right though. If you travel out of Sprint service, folks are going to have to be very light on their data usage and use a lot of WiFi. Marcelo said that in order to be able to afford to compete with these new low prices, they would have to tighten up their budget. Roaming costs is one of them.
Since roaming minutes are pretty generous at 800 per month, it just comes down to data. Sprint customers are going to have to become like AT&T and VZW customers...offload to WiFi and do all their heavy data lifting on WiFi. Except Sprint customers only have to do it when roaming. Duopoly customers have to do it all the time.
I'm an AT&T customer. I just had this issue. I was shipping someone something and took a pic of the receipt/tracking number to email them. I didn't want to waste my data to send from the store. So I waited until I got home and uploaded the pic on WiFi. Except Sprint customers only have to do that when roaming.

Sprint needs to stop with the same mentality of having their cake and eat it too showing all that Verizon roaming coverage that no one can use. Terminate that roaming and just stick to your partners you enabled EVDO roaming on.Some of you guys are pie in the sky fools. You want to have your cake and eat it, too. Lower plan prices, maintain "unlimited" data, increase bandwidth deployment, expand native coverage, retain problematic subs. Give me a break. Think about what you are saying. You cannot have everything including the kitchen sink without financially running Sprint into the ground. Lower prices will mean some sacrifices, including some subs who are poor fits for Sprint.
AJ
99% of the customers don't read roaming terms, look at maps, etc. They don't care. They just want to use their Facebook, text and talk to people. They don't look at any triangle or R on their phone etc.
I agree on killing off the abusers roaming on purpose but with that they kill off even more customers. Sprint is in no position to do that.
- 1
-
Luckily you don't run Sprint with your communist fist as they would have zero customers already. It's shocking you approve of a loss of revenue and image to the company you adore so much. And do not let the door hit her in the ass on the way out. Caveat emptor. She has a responsibility to understand coverage areas, service limitations, and fine print terms -- just as with every wireless provider. If that is so difficult with Sprint, then she can go be a mindless consumer, sign up with the duopoly, and not worry about their transgressions against our broadband future.
AJ

Don't agree with that at all. For instance when we went to a non Sprint area this summer, the Sprint line with us didn't think twice about using her phone I have roaming. She pays for the line and expects it to work in the US. You have to think with a regular customer mindset. If she would have been charged for the extra usage for that week I can guarantee you that person will not be a customer any longer. Customer lost for years along with that customer venting to 10 other of her friends, all over a place that person won't go for years. But you can also get a prepaid phone on another carrier for when you visit, or even a mobile broadband device for the trip. They sell prepaid MBB devices on most carriers now.

Cleaned up the changes so it's little less to dig through as there was a lot of 1X scan channel reductions on Cricket, VZW, and MetroPCS. Decent changes on some of the partners like C Spire, they stopped the battery killing constant EVDO scan for Sprint while you are on C Spire. Cellular One roaming in East TX is back (it was removed last revision). Read on...

Fortunately they forced my hand to go a different direction so I am not having that issue anymore. Just speaking for others with high 1+gb roaming in this area. It's not. And Sprint should just let these people go if they are not going to rectify their problem. I received an email the other day from a Sprint site acquisition attorney. I will get around to sending you a message about it later today or tomorrow. It will explain some of the dilemma you're having Downtown.

If you need some help with figuring things out let me know, I'm sure I still have my PRL diff app/code kicking around somewhere in my backups.
