    HTC EVO 4G LTE

I updated over the weekend, and on Monday my phone was overheating during my morning drive. Just my usual routine - phone in the car dock and charging, running Waze for navigation and Tune-In Radio. Vehicle temp set at my norm (cool). I've rarely had this phone overheat, and only in the summer previously. Having said that, I have had no overheating issues since Monday morning. May have just been a bunch of background services still playing catch-up since the update. I've also heard that the Qualcomm Enhanced location app sucks a lot of juice; it's possible that that was a contributing factor as well.
  2. Man, I'm glad you guys have finally slowed down a bit. I've been reading this thread (off and on, in my limited free time) for weeks, and for a while it seemed like every time I finished a page, there would be another one tacked onto the end! Seriously though, I've learned a lot from this thread, and wanted to say thanks to all you smart guys that make it happen. Especially Mike; I purchased the Pro version mostly just to show appreciation for all his hard work and responsiveness. One thing I've noticed recently is that when I click on the link to show the tower location, Google Maps just opens up and shows my current location. It doesn't show the location of the tower on the first attempt (even though I know where the tower is located). If I go back to the SCP app, then click the link again, the tower usually shows up. Since I just received an update to Google Maps recently, I suspect that this may be an issue with Maps rather than SCP, but I thought I would put it out there anyway. (This happens on my stock, unrooted, up-to-date EVO LTE). Thanks again for the outstanding app and all the work that goes into it.
  3. I've been reading Douglas Adams again... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/56980471/2014-01-15_08-29-51.png https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/56980471/2014-01-15_08-29-45.png
  4. Robert/AJ Thanks for your thoughts, guys. Bearing in mind that those are best-case results I posted above (typically more like -115 to -120 dBm and 2.5 to 3.0 Mbps down, which is still better than my home DSL), I was hoping for better in the future. In particular a more stable connection; there are quite a few times when the LTE won't connect at all, and the 3G here is horrendous. Just thinking about the future - not much else to do with the weather like it is here today
  5. In line with the original point of this thread... Is anyone aware of any threads/sites that specifically compare RF performance for a given carrier's phones? I currently have the EVO 4G LTE, and as Robert indicated above the 4G performance is poor. At home, I'm lucky to get signal strength better than -100dBm (using SignalCheck Pro), with speeds very rarely exceeding 5Mbps down. I'm about 1.5 miles away from tower at home, and do not really foresee any significant network changes from Sprint any time soon. I'm due for an upgrade in March, and RF performance will be a major factor in deciding on a new phone. While I like HTC devices in general, I'm not wedded to them, and would certainly consider someone else if the RF performance is there. And as long as I've been with Sprint (and as generally happy as I've been with them), I'm not wedded to them, either. If I have to go to Verizon, or (God forbid) AT&T for decent coverage at home, I will. I know that Sensorly shows local signal strength for the various carriers, but I'm specifically looking for *radio* performance for different handsets. Thanks in advance
