  1. I haven't asked the question in a while but is there any news regarding State College which can be shared? For the first time Sprint is claiming this is now an LTE market because there's apparently one site along South Nixon Road that's broadcasting LTE (however its in an area of town I never visit so I havent hit it yet to see if this is true). In any case it got me thinking if we now have 1 patch of LTE hopefully more's in the works. Anyone have any knowlege they can share? I've asked Sprint directly and they aren't commenting aside from saying LTE will be there as soon as we can but I've heard that for the past 3 years too. What's the story???
  2. This thread's pretty much gone totally silent as of late so how about an honest answer from someone who knows. Has Sprint pretty much stalled their build-out efforts or is the LTE rollout ongoing? As you know here in State College we have no LTE whatsoever to speak of and everytime you so much as ask them what the plan is you get the run-around. You'd have to think at this juncture that someone somewhere has seen at least a proposed timetable yet they act as if a date hasn't even been thought about. Its extremely discouraging. Also does anyone know how (or if) you can email the CEO's office directly to ask questions or voice complaints about service and coverage issues? I for one and tired of getting the canned replies from their customer service cronies. It'd be nice to speak with someone of authority to at least feel as though my concerns have been heard.
  3. Unfortunately for Sprint I will most likely not be around long enough to see LTE in State College. I've just had it with promise after promise and delay after delay. Every other provider (including T-Mobile) has had LTE in this market for ages yet not only am I stuck with sucky 3g speeds and often 1X when I'm roaming, but I still have dropped calls, failed data and tons of issues that just aren't worth hassling with. Contract's up in November so we'll see what they do between now and then but I'm betting I'll be bolting then.
  4. So today I sent Sprint a message via their Facebook Page and in a very short time someone got back to me to confirm that a new tower with LTE and possibly 800MHZ service is being constructed right now in zip code 16804 which is the area of the Penn State Campus however they also went on to say that there are still no plans and no timetable available for 16801 and 16803 at all which would be the general metro areas of State College. I guess I am having a very hard time understanding this seeing how they've been saying for ages that our buildout is coming soon. Just how hard could it be? I'm trying hard to be patient but my contract's up in November. Pretty sure if I don't see massive improvements by then I will bounce.
  5. Does anyone have any info at all on the areas in and around State College, PA? I've asked before. It seems that when you drive 20 minutes any direction you have decent coverage and LTE speeds yet Sprint has remained totally silent about what's happening here. At this juncture I think I'd be happy if they just said hey we're running late but its happening in October 2015 if that's the date but I find it very frustrating that they won't say anything. Anyone with inside knowledge whose able to explain what's going on and when in the market?
  6. I hate to keep asking the same questions but I was wondering what the latest is on the State College, PA market? I know many here have said that LTE is quite a way off but a few weeks ago I got a text from Sprint saying that they are in the final phases of upgrades in my area which should result in substantial improvements within the next month (assuming they meant end of February). They link they attached took me to a page which goes on about the benefits of LTE so I took that as meaning LTE is coming. I've also had local linesmen tell me that they've done upgrades and enhancements for Sprint on a few local towers. Just what is this upgrade I was told about and does it mean LTE sooner rather than later? Anyone have any news at all?
  7. This thread's been somewhat quiet for a while now. I am very curious if anyone has heard any news or has any type of update at all concerning State College, PA. It was last January when we were told that updates with new Ground Mount Antennas was in the works and here we are almost a year later with no LTE and no real indoor signal improvement of any kind at all. I can quote many places in town (both inside and outside) where I have little to no signal at all. I'm looking to be patient for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but it would still be nice if there were some kind of news to speak of. Its especially frustrating to drive 10 mins outside of State College in almost any direction and have LTE when the town itself does not. What's the latest?
  8. Does anyone know if that huge pole tower next to the WalMart out North Atherton in State College has Sprint on it? I noted yesterday there were cranes pulled up to the tower and they were installing or upgrading something. Since AT&T and Verizon already have their LTE up and running I was hoping this means Sprint is working on that pole?
  9. Emailed Sprint headquarters and was told State College still see 4g and perhaps some 800 mhz service in about 6 months. Anyone have any news of sites or towers in development?
  10. I find it rather depressing that Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile have all lit up LTE in State College and Sprint's still chugging along with subpar 3G speeds. Given the fact the Sprint Store in State college went bust and hasn't been replaced I am almost wondering if they aren't giving up on this area which by the way with the size of Penn State makes no sense whatsoever. Has anyone heard anything new about when State College can expect some LTE service to go live?
  11. I haven't seen or heard anything lately. I was wondering how the build-out is coming along in State College. I'd assume the ground mounts would be up and broadcasting now but I've noticed as of late really bad service along the North Atherton corridor with respect to dropped calls and weak signal areas so that tells me that perhaps the new ground mounts aren't broadcasting yet or perhaps they are having trouble doing seamless handoffs from one site to another. Also any word at all on 4GLTE in our area? I am aware that the ground mounts installed are capable of handling 4G but no one seems to be saying much about it these days. I am a little nervious seeing how the State College Sprint Store closed several months back and there seems to be no signs on the horizon of a new one opening soon. I'd hate to have just entered into a 2 year agreement with them last November only to learn that they are writing off this market. Does anyone know anything at all?
  12. You'd think they'd be chomping at the bit to get the upgrade finished and in-place. Verizon's had LTE in State College for 2.5 years and AT&T just flipped on LTE in State College last week. I can see what's coming but I must admit as a Sprint customer its getting rather hard to get excited about a company that always seems to be bringing up the rear but then again as of now there isn't even a Sprint Store in town either. The one at the mall went under after Christmas. Want service you have to drive to Altoona. Seems silly to me. I wonder if these guys are taking this market seriously.
  13. Any idea when any of these sites will be up and testing. I assume they'll have LTE as soon as they are flipped on?
