I was browsing through the Daytona Beach Community Development website and found a new 150' monopole is seeking approval. What are the chances this is a Sprint tower? I have a feeling this is yet another AT&T tower. In 2012 AT&T put up a monopole in Port Orange. In 2013 they put up a monopole in Ormond Beach. So while I'm hoping it's a Sprint tower, I'm thinking it's another AT&T site. I've linked to the PDF document below. http://www.codb.us/DocumentCenter/View/13131

NSB overall is average. Expect LTE just about everywhere beachside, but If you go all the way down beachside (A1A) to Canaveral National Seashore expect 3G speeds only. When on the mainland, LTE is only along the two main roads (SR44 and US1). Venture too far from them and you'll loose LTE. If you're willing to go just a few miles north, Daytona Beach has excellent LTE everywhere. And I mean everywhere. If you're on ISB (SR92) in front of the speedway you'll get SPARK speeds.

This is from inside my house. It's like this throughout my neighborhood. If I leave my neighborhood and head toward S.R 44 I see LTE almost immediately. I live on Nature Creek Lane in New Smyrna Beach, FL for anyone who wants to look into my issue. I would love to know just how far my closest tower is.

Thanks! That's good news. I live in Port Orange and have an iPhone 6 which is a Tri-Band device. Since I got my iP6 I have noticed that where I previously saw LTE, I now see better/faster LTE coverage, but sadly I still see 3G far too often. Mostly on the west side (west of I-95). If you're on the beach or near the race track it's all LTE all the time.

So what band(s) are in the Daytona area and how would I go about finding out that information? I know that service is at it's best when the track (Daytona International Speedway) is in sight. I'm assuming that's because of Sprint's sponsorship of the NASCAR Cup Series.

Hello all. While I'm getting great LTE coverage in Port Orange and Daytona; When I'm visiting my mom in New Smyrna Beach my experience is far from great. When I stand outside her house data speeds average 3-6mbps down. When I am in the house, speeds are basically none existent at .02-.09mbps down. This concerns me because my mom is a Sprint customer as well and I would like to know that if she had to rely on the Sprint network that it would be there for her. I was wondering if there's any news on LTE or Spark coming to NSB anytime soon. More specifically the I-95/SR44 area. Also when can the Daytona Beach area expect to see Spark?

Just wondering if anyone has any info on when I can expect more widespread LTE coverage in New Smyrna Beach. Right now coverage is pretty much limited to the main arteries (44, I-95, A1A, US1, Flagler Ave, Canal St). Also where are the Sprint cell towers located in New Smyrna Beach?

Well my opinion has changed since July 12th when I posted the above quote. So needless to say I'm keeping my now 8 year relationship with Sprint intact. Mostly because my service over the past two weeks has improved drastically. Could my consist slow speeds have been caused by a faulty device? The reason I ask is because about a week in half ago I dropped my phone (iPhone5) to the point where I had to use my AppleCare protection to get a new one. Well since I've had this new iPhone, I'm getting LTE speeds way more often and my 3G speeds are averaging about a 1mbps. So I'm thinking my problem may have been my phone after all. Opinions?

Exactly! I have stuck around because I was in a contract, but what I see now is that there really is greener pastures elsewhere. So it appears very much worth it now to just pay the early termination fee and move on. And if down the road Sprint actually becomes truly competitive, then I will gladly come back. Over the years I have been very happy with my Sprint service, but as time has progressed, data speeds have become pivotal to daily life and Sprint has just not moved as quickly as other carriers. Blame it on lack of money, city permits, company mergers, etc. The other companies found a way to get it done why hasn't Sprint? LTE rollout aside, the fact still remains that Sprint's 3G speeds are still appalling. I'm more disappointed in Sprint then I am mad. Their giving me reasons to look elsewhere after so many years together.

Well I can tell you after what I saw yesterday I'm done with Sprint. Yesterday I met a buddy of mine at the Port Orange Pavilion for some burgers & beers at Red Robin. He told me he finally got rid of his iPhone 4 and moved up to an iPhone 5, And on top of that he switched over from AT&T to StraightTalk to lower his costs. I told him that surely ST would have slower data speeds being that it's prepaid. Well long story short, we did a speed test and his (non-contract $45/Mo) iPhone 5 kicked my (2yr contract $97/Mo) iPhone 5's a$$. He got 5 mbps down and 1.5 mbps up. I got 0.17 mbps down and 0.02 mbps up. After experiencing that first hand I'm done with Sprint. I'm shelling out way more money and getting way less service. Now I don't know if my buddy's StraightTalk phone is using AT&T or VZW towers, but I know he bought the iPhone unlocked from Walmart. My buddy said those speeds were average data speeds he's getting everywhere. I told him I only get great service in South Daytona and around the speedway. When I get paid again in 2 weeks, I'm heading to Walmart to buy an unlocked iPhone 5 like my buddy did.

Most of Daytona Beach & South Daytona and parts of Ormond and Port Orange have LTE now that are getting anywhere from 4-10mbps down & 1-4mbps up. If I had to guess I would say that the rest of Port Orange & any part of New Smyrna Beach won't see LTE for at least 3-4 months. I think it has more to do with getting fiber to the cell sites then getting the LTE pannels installed.
