Network Vision/LTE - Missouri Market (includes St. Louis)

So that means they even have started working on it yet?

Probably not. Not at least on things that are visible. They may be working on backhaul. This is the first time we have ever received a Site Dispatch report. We didn't know if it meant work has started, or the request for work is being made. I appreciate you going to check it out for us, so we can know what these Site Dispatch reports mean. I would guess that it means that the OEM is notifying Sprint that these sites are ready and they are about to begin work.

If you can check things out every few weeks when you are in the area, I would appreciate it. It would be a tremendous help.

I live in Joplin, I'll try to check out at least the one site that's in the middle of town and report back, and keep an eye on it over the coming weeks. I haven't been to that one so I don't know how accessible it is.

Unfortunately the site right by my home isn't flagged as "in progress" but I'll report any changes I notice there as well - so far nothing that I can tell. Would pictures of the current state of either one be helpful at all?

This would be a welcome development, if true. I work downtown and have noticed that my signal now waffles between 3G and Edge. Where I used to get anywhere from .80Mbps to 1.1Mbps, I now hover around .15Mbps to .45Mbps on any given day. I've even noticed a handful of dropped calls in areas where I normally don't drop - right along the Highway 40 corridor between Kingshighway and Hampton. Hopefully this means Sprint is tinkering with the network a little in preparation for some NV updates.

Two-point follow-up: Once work begins, what has been the typical timetable to launch? I'm holding off on upgrading my family to 4G LTE devices until I know we'll be covered. :)

Thanks!

Unfortunately, there is no typical. I have seen a site start and then go live in 3 weeks. But that is unusual. I have seen it be 4 months from start until LTE goes live. But that is unusual too. It also varies from OEM's. Maybe I would say Ericsson on average is 7-10 weeks.

Thanks for the update, Robert. This forum has been a godsend. I need to start kicking over some donations via PayPal -- long time lurker, first time poster.

Finding s4gru.com has solidified my decision to jump from AT&T to Sprint. You really should get some Sprint kickbacks for subscriber retention. ;)

If Sprint wanted to make a sizable donation to our PayPal account, I wouldn't object. But it hasn't ever happened yet. :(

I thought your LTE tower starting the market would be your payment! :)

Yes, I suppose. But LTE availability doesn't pay our S4GRU expenses. ;)

That is like receiving socks and underwear for Christmas. Yeah, you need them, but you were already going to get them sooner or later.

Thought I would go check out ST23XC284 the other St Louis area site on the dispatch report and looked for it first on google maps. That area has an excellent aerial view of the area and I can't find anything that looks like a cell site near by. Its bound to be on one of the buildings but I can't se the panels.

May have found it/them.st23cx284.jpg

Thanks for the reconnaissance. It will probably take being on another nearby building to see the work there. Bummer.

It will be interesting to see which gets 4G first the announced Joplin sites or the new 3G site down town ST Louis. I guess it's NV gear, would be kinda dumb put it in just to rip it out.

Did Joplin get announced as a work in progress? If so I will be glued to my EVO LTE waiting for the day that beautiful little 4G icon appears.

It did, several months ago. But it's only been in the last week or so that we've gotten any indication of work being done.

Oh that post, I thought it was something in the subscriber area that I was not aware of.

I hesitated being a subscriber but gave a small amount and got access. Now I speend most of my time in subscriber topics and sent in some more cash. Its about what I would have paid for a movie channel for a month is all I have paid si far, I'm cheap ... its pennies per hour I spend here. Well worth it imho. Anything you choose to give is good for 6 months. They don't renew you for tiny ($1) donations but by then you should see the value or pass.

Road trip results to ST98xc963 aka Lumiere Casino down town St. Louis:

I don't think its taking connections yet. I sat across the street and went to airplane mode for a minute and no LTE and after that 3G was still slow with a poor ping.

It shows on the map the antenna is in/on the hotel part. Happen to see panels or get pictures?? Could it be a building solution?
