Maybe it will show up on today's update? If you get over near that tower in the future, maybe you can connect and tell us your LTE signal strength from your LTE Engineering screen. That would help rule out whether you are connected to the new site or not. Thanks! Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

Why would they build a new tower (King St New Bedford, Ma) but not make it 4g right away? Bobby

Why would they build a new tower (King St New Bedford' date=' Ma) but not make it 4g right away? Bobby[/quote'] I'm stumped. It surprised me, actually. I have thought about this quite a bit the last few weeks. I have three ideas: 1. The site is much older than anyone realizes. Its possible its been there for 6 months or more, but it was just discovered as a new site recently. So it could possibly been installed just before NV really got started in the area. 2. The contract and design for the new site is old and precedes Network Vision. Maybe there were delays in planning, zoning and permitting. 3. This site was added urgently and maybe even using old parts removed from other decommissioned legacy sites. Might as well let these old legacy components be useful and fill in a coverage hole. If this is the case, they will have to add this site to AlcaLu's contract by change order and this would probably be one of the last sites in the market to be converted. All of these are just theories. I have no idea. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

I do know driving on RT 140 near where the site is now I used to roam and drop calls. Now I have all my bars! Just really slow data speed. BobbyBolduc
I'm still waiting for this week's site update. Robert via Samsung Galaxy S-III 32GB using Forum Runner Was unable to pick up LTE on ride home. So disappointing. Someone had to have picked it up for it to be on Sensorly. It wasnt there this morning but it is there now. Bobby
SteaminLoaf
Made an account to report first usable speedtest in my area. I usually flash 4G after toggling airplane mode, then go to 3G. Signal strength is weak at my house (currently -117dBm RSRP, -10dB RSRQ), but just up the road a bit on Rt. 2/ Merriam Ave Leominster I was able to complete a speed test while going down the highway before dropping out. I did not get a 4G signal strength reading to go with this speed test. Dowload: 6.37 Mbps Upload: 4.84 Mbps Ping: 64ms Nearest tower was at least 2 miles away according to Sprint network enhancement page and there's no way to know if this is an LTE tower, or if I was getting signal from one of the other three nearby towers. I'll monitor signal strength next time I go through the area to see if I can determine which tower it is.

I had my phone galaxy s3 in forced LTE mode so I bet that's why it lasted longer than normal.

taubut
coverage.sprint.com was updated this morning, showing LTE as live for the cape. Fairly large area down there is covered, hopefully this means more of Mass will be going live soon!

JoshHuman
I picked up LTE signal last night around 9pm at my house near Davis Sq. in Somerville. It only lasted a minute, but nice to see I will soon have it at home.

BobbyBolduc
Can someone please explain why someone with their phone on LTE only will pick up a tower but not me while I switch back and forth from CDMA only to LTE/CDMA near a specific tower. I pick up 4G no problem at my work but not where he picked it up for sensorly. Bobby

Bobby I think that just has to do with the radio on the EVO LTE. i have been curious also why it seems my EVO doesn't automatically change over to LTE and the other phones seem to retain the LTE connection for longer distances from what ive read. Hopefully a firmware update in the future with fix this.

kw298
I also have an HTC EVO 4G LTE. I have not picked up a 4g signal once; I live in Westie, travel around Norwood on weekends, and work at Copley Square. I ensured I have my CDMA/LTE setting on, and have gone in/out of airplane mode a few times. Never seen the LTE pop up on my screen. Sigh. Den9696
Same problems. Have to restart my phone a lot because it wont reconnect to the mobile network, Bobby I had that issue in the past depending on what rom ive had running. But this phone on a stock rom i havent lost complete mobile network. Just noticing weird radio issue's with LTE mostly. Dont want to wait till LTE is completely deployed to find out that my EVO is completely unable to hold onto LTE service and then not be able to return it for another LTE phone that actually detects LTE correctly. One and only time 4g has came up on my phone without having to do anything with switching the phone from airplane mode. Drove past it a day later and it did not do the same. Was driving and unable to do the cmda lte toggle though. Should still be live over there though.
