I am having problems with Samsung Pay on my Galaxy S9.  Where on that phone model is the NFC antenna?  Any tips on how to make Samsung Pay work more reliably?
Look into the sales terminal credit card swipe slot and look for the magnetic card reader head inside. Put the center of the back of the phone over that point and slowly move the phone back and forth along the card slot. Sometimes a circular swirl outwards also works. Mentally note where the phone is when you have a success and use that as a starting point every time.

Another slow to release update. Either they're having problems again or they're adding something useful.

Both Sprint and Samsung should be embarrassed at how poorly the s9 has been treated since its release.  VOLTE has been ignored.  Many of the carrier aggregation options have been ignored.   Something abnormal is going on with this phone.  I will be looking at other brands when my s9 dies.   The older s8  was updated much better then the newer s9.

Yep. I'm surprised I got it that fast, usually it's a week or two after an update is released before my unlocked phone can download it. I've been checking everyday.

When I saw it was over 400 MB update I though for sure it was this one. Negative, still just calling plus.

I was told that the S9 was getting VOLTE update. I'm using att right now waiting to see if it updated so the unlocked model can use their VOLTE and not HSPA+ for calls

As far as I know they still don't allow unlocked phones to use VoLTE among other things. My mom's factory unlocked S9+ can't use VoLTE, Wifi calling, or advanced messaging.

If you're talking about AT&T. I have a 1 + 7 pro on AT&T and I get voice over LTE access.

S9 line up still doesn't have it. iPhones and pixel do. Also is yours a att model or factory unlocked? For a long time they didn't allow it on any unlocked phones. They are starting to now tho

With AT&T I have voice over LTE access but not Wi-Fi calling on my OnePlus 7 pro. And I heard that with even the pixel four phones AT&T doesn't even support Wi-Fi calling or volte. att needs to get with the game. Sprint supports it so why not AT&T?

Yeah I might just go back to vzws Visible. Unlimited everything 40 bucks a month taxes and fees included and both wifi calling and VOLTE. No issues.

AT&T is so archaic it's not even funny. Sprint in my opinion with their unlock phone policy is better than them. But I'm in the market for a phone would you still recommend the Galaxy s9 even in 2019?

Yeah. It's supports 256 qam 64 up. 3-5 times CA. My works great. Don't have have the money for a new phone. Only thing with the unlocked model and Sprint is that 25+41 isn't supported where the Sprint model might be. Not sure how it works with the S10 Sprint vs unlocked. For att the S9 doesn't aggregated with B14.

Its almost time for the next iteration of Samsung's Galaxy Phones! I'm planning on pre-ordering either the S20+ or Ultra. Current Rumors have it going on Pre-order February 11.  Let the discussion commence...

Samsung Network Vision equipment are highly distinct and fairly easy to spot compared to the equipment that other vendors are deploying. Sprint is Samsung's first extremely massive American contract (baring Clearwire) so there  should be no issues in confusing these equipment for another carrier which happens often with Ericsson NV equipment.

Below are images of Samsung equipment which includes antennas, remote radio units, base stations, and their mounting configurations.

      Sprint 4G Rollout Updates
      Tuesday, January 31, 2012 - 7:46 PM MST

Since last fall, there had been talk of a Samsung Galaxy Nexus launching on American carriers other than Big Red. Sprint has finally announced several weeks ago that it is the another vendor slated for release in the U.S. Suffice to say, many of us out there, especially those adverse to heading to Verizon and paying its premium prices, are excited about the impending release.
The good news is that Google could be working on an updated version of the Galaxy Nexus. It has unofficially been dubbed the Galaxy Nexus Plus. There is much anticipation that it will be released before Sprint turns on LTE this summer. It’s not the first time an OEM has refreshed a device and re-released it to the market place, which works to our advantage. It’s rumored that the new Galaxy Nexus will have either a 1.5 or 1.8 GHz Texas Instrument OMAP4670 dual core processor. This would be a significant upgrade from the 1.2 GHz dual core processor found in the current Verizon version.
We don’t know anything about official specs, but it’s also rumored to have an 8 MP camera. This is a noteworthy upgrade to the 5 MP shooter on the Verizon model (which has been lauded by many techies). We already know that the Sprint model will come installed with Google Wallet, per previous announcements. Some rumors also point to a beefier battery as well. The phone should have all the other features that’s on the current Galaxy Nexus, so now all we have to do is wait.

    • Good work. Here are the numbers that were origanally thrown around: https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/a-merged-sprint-t-mobile-will-shutter-25-000-towers-and-crown-castle-will-suffer-most
    • The combined carrier expects to save $26 billion in network costs and another $17 billion in other operating costs while increasing network coverage, particularly in underserved markets; and speeding up its expansion of 5G. Those network savings include $4.2 billion in opex savings from retiring Sprint’s network. New T-Mobile will add Sprint’s mid-band spectrum plus 11,000 cell sites to its network, and those will “provide it with enough additional capacity to meet the markets’ projected growth in data consumption and thus avoid the erosion in quality of service that would result from saturating its existing capacity.” https://www.rcrwireless.com/20200219/carriers/insights-from-the-sprint-t-mobile-us-merger-ruling-part-3 Dish “may utilize any and all cell sites that New T-Mobile would otherwise decommission, gaining access to tens of thousands of cell towers ready for almost immediate use,” and it will also have access to retail stores that New T-Mobile would otherwise close, so it can expand its distribution. Marrero also said that in addition to at least 20,000 towers that New T-Mobile will make available to Dish, Dish “has also identified and signed master service agreements for 32,300 towers that do not need structural reinforcement and thus could become operational in relatively short order.” https://www.rcrwireless.com/20200225/carriers/insights-from-the-sprint-t-mobile-us-merger-ruling-part-5
    • I'm hoping they do some sort of Merger Briefing soon.    Hopefully they will disclose the game plan with some numbers thrown in... cell sites, moving customers on or so-forth... a lot of what we are going on is information from almost 1-1 1/2 years ago.   When and if they do, it will be a great meeting to tune into for details!
    • I am not certain this number is still true.  With Dish getting the sites they abandon, the inclination would likely be to retain more Sprint sites. FCC may have forced more rural coverage given 1x800 coverage compared to VoLTE.  We know T-Mobile went through several revisions after those numbers were made public.  Might be better numbers in the merger court decision.
    • Agreed, but I also worry about this autofocus issue because this exists currently on the S10+ that I see occasionally. And it's possible it'll get fixed with software updates, but maybe it's a hardware issue. They changed the way they do their autofocus with the S20 line, so who knows??  I'm trying to get my lease payments cleared up so I can pre-order. As usual, Sprint online says different things than Sprint executive teams. When do the pre-orders stop??
